Jack Kelly's South Memphis Jug Band
Sleepy John Estes
Kansas Joe McCoy+++
Memphis Minnie+++
Tom Dickson

Before Elvis there were The Crows, they are one of the very first and most important of all the early vocal groups. This being their signature tune.

So I buy this compilation CD, it was those famous field recording done by the Lomax;s back in the 30;s and 40's. While all of it was good this one (which I knew nothing about) simply stunned me. It was recorded right there in some church in Clarksdale Miss in 1942. In a word......amazing!

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chester"Howlin' Wolf" Burnett was born and raised in Mississippi, he grew up listening to Son House, Robert Johnson, Willie Brown and this guy, the king of the Delta, Charley Patton. I know what you're thinking,.....what the fuck? It does take awhile to finally....get it. Wolf has mentioned the influense.
