Favorite non-Brown would have to be Edward Reed. There was none of the preening, look-at-me BS from Reed we saw from Ray Lewis: just great, clean, hard-hitting football. Ed Reed is a man's man.

You guys would probably think my favorite player of all-time is Manning, but he's actually #3 on my list.

1. Dan Marino - My old man is a huge Dolphins fan and I can remember watching Dolphins games with him when I was a kid. Grams would always get me a new Marino jersey for Christmas and I'd wear it proudly to school, at which point I would catch shit from absolutely everyone including the teachers because "it's not a Cowboys jersey!" I used to think I hated the Cowboys because I didn't want to be in the same fanbase as my stepfather and stepbrothers, but maybe it's due to some deep-seated rage toward all of the 4th grade versions of a bunch of people I know now that are dead, incarcerated, homeless or on their 7th attempt at the police academy exam. At least I hope that became their lot in life. I bet the teachers were suicides. But I thoroughly enjoyed watching Dan the Man, and he's probably the player who made me start to love the game of football so he gets the number one spot on my list.

2. Reggie Wayne - The early fascination with Marino probably had a lot to do with the fact that I would later become a Colts fan and root for Manning, who's pretty much the same guy as Marino just with a Super Bowl ring. But Manning isn't my #2 either. It's Wayne. I don't really know why that is. I'd always felt like Reggie Wayne was the NFL player most likely to be a total thug gangster in real life, but was intelligent enough to elaborately conceal it. Who knew that'd end up being Marvin Harrison? But I guess I just pick up on things in Reggie's interviews when people ask him stupid questions or try to get his opinion on a take that doesn't need his opinion. It's not a Gregg Popovich-level mind game he plays with reporters or anything, but more like he finds a way to say "Nigga I'da fuckin' kneecapped yo bitch ass if you asked me dat shit on da street" in a completely intellectual way that doesn't seem to imply that on the surface. Maybe I'm the only one who sees this, but according to pretty much all of my friends and co-workers, I'm "weird" or they "can't figure me out" or some nonsense. Anyway, when Reggie decided to stay with the rebuilding Colts when he could have easily gone to another team for a perceived better shot at a title, that pretty much locked him up as my favorite Colt ever.

3. Peyton Manning - This guy is probably No. 1 on almost every Indianapolis Colts fan's list. Obviously the Baltimore folks love Unitas, and pre-Manning era fans might cling to some player people barely remember, but fans in my peer group probably indisputably love Manning the most. Not me. At one time, he was my favorite player, but after he sabotaged the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, I lost a lot of respect for him. I always knew he was still a Saints fan because of his dad, but the way he threw the game at the last minute was despicable. It's only fitting that he went to Denver and put up an even worse Super Bowl performance. Conspiracies aside, Manning is fun to watch in the regular season and I look forward to him dethroning every record Favre has except consecutive starts and career interceptions. He's already passed him in Super Bowl losses, so the other records should fall in due time.
