most spurs fans will argue that Manu deserved it in 05. Duncan was the leading scorer in the series, but Manu should have been the fMVP. i remember thinking this at the time and even getting mildly upset (not that i could be upset in the minutes after a chip). but similarly, we all know Pau was the true fMVP in '10. You could argue in 09, but I'll grant you that one, even though Kobe shot 43% of the field while Pau shot 60

Kobe should have 1, Duncan should have 2. if the spurs played anybody worth a shit in 07, duncan probably would have gotten it that year, but we had a matchup against fucking boobie gibson so parker had a field day

Not really. Manu did nothing but score in the series. Duncan averaged 20 (on admittedly a poor FG%) and 14.1 boards in the series against the best defensive frontline of all time. Ben Wallace, the league's best rebounder, averaged only 10.6 boards.

Duncan had way more responsibility on both ends than Manu.

Couldn't care and Duncan unlike Shaq the year before anchored the defense, rebounded, blocked shots and most importantly took over in Game 7. Stopping Duncan was all Larry Brown wanted in that series.

On 2 bum ankles, he took the Spurs home. That's alpha right there. Kobe on the other hand was too busing shitting his Dick Greyson bed against the Pistons.

Ultimate point is Manu had little impact on the defensive end since he was hidden on Prince (an average offensive player) while Bowen was tasked with guarding Hamilton/Billups, so he had more energy for offense. Duncan was in the trenches against the league's best defensive player and Rasheed, a great post defender in his own right. Short of Shaq, put any other big from that time (KG, Amare, Brand, Yao) in there and the Spurs probably get swept.

And think about this, Shaq, still near prime, averaged only 7.6 boards against the Pistons in the series prior (ECF).

Manu was definitely the offensive MVP, but I don't think anyone can argue that he was the overall MVP.

The primary reason I abandoned the team I should geographically root for is because of Hollywood fucks like that. Some transplant moves out here from Bumfuck, Nowhere and is suddenly a Lakers fan because it's the "in" thing to do. Carr didn't label you the Fakers for nothing. Everything about the organization, from Jerry wanting to be Hugh Hefner to Jeanie's fake tits to their celebrity fans is phony and plastic.

Try living in Southern California. Then you can witness that "aggravating contingent" as it hypes your beloved Lakers.

Everyone team has a myriad of fandom, Midst. To believe we're only the one and not one of 30 is wrong headed of you. Our own dear Deads is such a fair weather type, but, I don't hold it against him. Your people upstairs are constantly jumping in & out, but, I don't keep track, or, remember them the next time I go up there. Fandom is a personal thing and no two people are alike.

once again with TS%...Kobe shot 40% and 42% from the field in those series' :lmao
The douchenozzle must be astonished that the Phoenix Suns of the early 2000's never won a title.

But you're the worst offender given your proximity to Hollywood.

You can't see it because you were there from the beginning, rooting on the Lakers when they were the NBA's version of the Boston Red Sox/Buffalo Bills. And Nicholson was your only celebrity supporter, really. Then Showtime happened and all the assholes came out of the woodwork.

Watch how it will happen with the Dodgers if they win a ring. Alyssa Milano is their only passionate celebrity fan right now. If the Dodgers scratch, you'll see the Beckhams et al turning in their Purple and Gold for Dodger Blue.

You're blinded by your Laker hatred, so it makes conversing in a civil manner with you very frustrating, Midst. And it's a shame, because I crave good debate.

Everyone knows Los Angeles "sports" fans are the most fickle and fairweather. This isn't news and has nothing to do with "hatred."

If the Clippers win, you'll start seeing more celebrities at their games (in fact, you're seeing quite a few now). Angels, same shit. Suddenly every celebrity was a lifelong Angels fan when they won a World Series. Kings, same thing.

It's annoying to witness as a real sports fan because those assholes haven't "suffered" enough to deserve it. They were never there during the down times.

In your words, they can only take.

Every fan base is like that. You're just fixated on the Lakers.

Your fans take. In the Finals last Summer, now you can't sell your arena out.

Spurs attendance this year is no different than any other year.

Meanwhile, the Clippers are selling out more than "LA's team."

Kobe + Duncan would have been a crazy ass duo.

Thank Christ I wasn't even here then. I came runnin' at the precipice of 4-4. I didn't even know I hated Duncan then.

Of course. You're a post-Pau arrival who was inspired by a guy you've since thrown under the bus for the other guy who didn't inspire you to post.

We might not have ever known how good Duncan was then. Kobe's 30 FGA a game would have killed any semblance of post play.

titles won as undisputed alpha still favors Duncan tbh:

Dunc: 3
Kob: 1
