Hopefully they will learn their lesson, don't hire a Black coach, tbh, especially a proven failure like Cheeks..

Joe Dumars should be next, I don't know how he still has a job, tbh..

Because of that historically lucky "throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" team he assembled in the mid 2000s.

:lol true..

I didn't mind the Josh Smith signing, assuming he was going to play PF with Drummond at C..

I have no idea how you sign Josh Smith to a big contract, yet play him at SF:lol..wasted Monroe's trade value, too, he still had some trade value around the league during the off-season, but now everybody knows he's a one-dimensional big that can't defend anybody..

I haven't been paying much attention to the Pistons games, but I did not like the Josh Smith signing, Smith takes away many shots from Monroe & Drummond.

Was listening to local sports station The Ticket in Detroit and they were talking about how basketball came out with a metric similar to WAR in baseball and josh smith is last in the league in costing his team points and quality of shots and shit like that. Can't remember what the hell it was called though. Anyone heard of this?

It was a Grantland study IIRC, usage % + efficiency..

Both Josh Smith and Jennings were in the bottom 20..

Dumars' is on borrowed time. I suspect he wasn't fired as well because his contract is up at the end of the season anyway, and maybe Gores will save him some dignity. Dumars should have been gone after 2008, and at the very least when Gores bought the team. What a clusterfuck of a situation. The thing is there is some talent on the team. It was just constructed so fucked up. I hope Gores is keeping Dumars around to this season so he can make a trade at the deadline. Ship Monroe out and start acquiring players that fit with each other.

That would be a good move. Hollins is solid, if you can get around his gimpy ass hands.

Tbh I heard they were moving the team to Mexico, where the jobs are.

His tenure seemed really fast. How many seasons did he coach there? The NBA does not give coaches that much of a chance. The Pistons have fallen on hard times. From 2003 to 2008, they were the best team in the Eastern Conference and then the wheels came off.
Damn, this was this first season as the coach. The NBA treats coaches like shit. The Pistons are only a half game out of the shitty 8th seed and they canned Mo. pathetic.

Who do you think could take over Dumars? Anyone you prefer?

No opinion on Cheeks. Don't know shit about him.

You have any take other than 'he is black?'

Yeah, he's a re-tread with no history of coaching success. His finest work was coaching a little girl through the national anthem.

Cheeks comes from the Larry Brown school of coaching... he was an assistant under Larry during Phila's Finals run on 2001... he then went to the Jailblazers as head coach, but could never get past the 1st round... his career has gone downhill since then...

The NBA treats coaches like shit.

:lmao Seriously?

This was Cheeks' THIRD head coaching job... Vinny Del Negro had 2 HC jobs, Mike Woodson is on his second, Mike Brown is on his third, Randy Wittman is on his third, Richie Adubado had three HC jobs, Tim Floyd had two, need I say more? The NBA treats mediocre and bad coaches quite well, tbh....

There's a reason why Pop is the best coach in the modern basketball era, the Alex Ferguson in basketball, just check the records of teams coached by Pop's students...
