:lmao "tougher requirements." i think you need to be braindead to not score an 1100 on the SAT considering its out of 2400. and thats guaranteed admission :lol

The university receives about 15,000 completed fall semester applications and, under the old policy, offered admission to 78 percent, said George Norton (http://www.mysanantonio.com/?controllerName=search&action=search&channel=news%2Feducation&search=1&inlineLink=1&query=%22George+Norton%22), assistant vice president for student affairs.
Under the new policy, for instance, the required scores for guaranteed admission for students ranked in the second 25 percent of their high school class will increase from 960 to 1100 on the SAT and 20 to 24 on the ACT, Norton said.
Romo said the students who will be turned away because of tougher standards would be better served by attending community college.
Under the new requirements, transfer students will need a 2.25 grade point average, rather than a 2.0.

Depends on how gay tbh...

i'd need about 400million, some movie theaters, and stake in the Dodgers to overlook this mess tbh...

i wasn't really trying to talk shit, hence why i didnt bring up my school. a lot of my good friends go to or graduated from CSUN which is my local version of UTSA. they aren't bad schools, but they also don't go around trying to justify how great csun is or about their 79% admissions :lol

wut? you are already in law school? unless you meant you are trying to get into law school next year. i'm currently waiting to hear back from law schools, my apps are already in

biochemistry. was admittedly a mistake, i could have graduated in 3 years if i went with something like poly sci. but i wanted to test the waters, and didn't really commit to law until after my 3rd year, at which point i just decided to ride it out. i don't have a stellar gpa, but my lsat should get me in somewhere. i think we've had this discussion on another thread tbh

I don't know if law school is a smart choice unless you goto a top school. I know way too many people that are having a hard time finding a job. Its a lot of time, money, and hardwork that could be useless. Now combining it with an MBA or something to work your way up the corporate ladder? That would be smart.

*60%

If you wanted the info you could've asked instead of looking for a two year old article. And what am I trying to justify exactly? Where you and others go wrong is by comparing a 45 year old branch university to century old academic powerhouses. That's ignorance on your part not mine tbh.

i didn't accuse you of comparing it to elites, you yourself said it was ranked in the 600's... but lets just keep things level. where are you getting 60% from? can you show me where you got this, because i've been on google for about 15 minutes and haven't seen any reported number anywhere near that. most are near 78% if not more.

like i said earlier, i'm not going to hate on somebody for going to UTSA, but i am going to call somebody on it if they try to make it seem better than it is. just calling a spade a spade

I don't think you'll find a single person telling you it's a good idea unless you're going to a tier 1 school. Everyone has to know at least one unemployed lawyer.

I wouldn't bother with a law degree and MBA. Get work experience then go back and get the MBA or try to get your company to pay for it.

ah i didn't catch that the second time around. still, it guarantees admission to a pretty low SAT score, which i guess says more about the applicant pool than anything. it also says they accepted 95% of students 10 years ago, though i don't know when you went there.

but i'll give you the :tu for shutting me up about about their current acceptance rates. i eat my crow when it's served

yeah i've heard this quite a bit, even from the practicing attorneys at the offices i have worked at.

i applied to 9 schools, 4 of which are tier 1. whats frustrating is that my lsat score is plenty good for pretty much any of these but i sorta sabotaged my gpa a bit with my biochem major :lol

Oh shit i didn't know you were (are) a biochem major. I'm assuming you're still in school cause you haven't finished the research component of the degree plan (assuming UCLA requires it)...that's usually what fucks up people tbh

Oh okay gotcha. Have you already finished physical biochemistry? That was the worse of the worse tbh and I only took it because friends of mine were taking it and it satisfied advanced science hours.

Intro Biochem and Medical biochemistry are easily my favorite classes.

Ive said it on here before, 10 years ago what was said about UTSA was true. Now not so much. Youd be hard pressed to find a university that has made the strides UTSA has the past decade. Also Im sure it ranks more favorably against universities that are its equal age wise. Im a super senior like you I guess(changed majors in year 2 which fucked me up), so Ive been a part of the change tbh.

You can have your opinion of the standards but the fact remains that theyre not that much different than the standards of most universities in the state outside of UT, A&M and Rice. The notion that you can only get a good education at the elite unis is dumb too imho. Ill gladly take my engineering degree from good ol UTSA over some arts degree from UT for example.

pChem wasn't fun, but my least favorite was probably inorganic chemistry. biochemical methods at ucla is proably the equivalent of medical biochemistry. didn't really care for the class, but yeah it was paradise compared to the others. at this point i'm just catching up on labs mostly, while tacking on some upper div electives. at ucla the labs aren't always conjoined with the class

i agree with pretty much everything there. like i said before, i have no problems with UTSA attendees/grads. especially agree about the elite schools thing. a vast majority of the attonreys i have worked with/for did not attend tier 1 law schools yet are doing fine. though with how saturated the market is with young attorneys, that is probably changing

I dont get why people harp on a guy that actually went to college. Dont care if its ranked low. Dont you get the same kind of education?

How many members here can say they actually went to college at all? A handful would be my guess.
