If SAS predicted that the Heat will win it all. The whole team can already start booking an early vacation in the Bahamas without playing the season.

SAS loves the Heat and hates the Spurs so it is not surprising that he would pick the Heat. He is not the only one though that is predicting the Heat to win it all. Matchups don't look good for Miami if they play San Antonio.

I'm not saying that SAS is not a racist, but your example was horrible. Rasho and Christian are not good players and Sheed was one of the leaders of an NBA Champion. Rasho and Laettner are not even in Sheeds class of a player. Obviously he can't pick the Spurs, then his show would not get ratings and his personality would not get ratings cause he would be like almost anyone else. Also you always look for who is gonna knock off the champion. Miami probably does have the best chance if the new Heat can transform their games to fit a system.

I partly agree, but if he doesn't pick the Spurs because of ratings, then that makes him a sellout and the worst kind of analyst. I beleive he is not racist but is biased towards black players from the "hood"

I agree with that. Players from the "hood" or Philly one of the two. I think he has an infatuation with Shaq alsom, besides him being one of the best centers of all time, is that Shaq can make any interviewer or journalist look good with witty quotes and quick one liners. And I do think he is a sellout, but its easy to pick the team that should win it or has won it, its more compelling to hear why someone else will win it, unless you are a Spurs fan. Also some people on this site get too antsy the second people bad mouth the Spurs. They are NBA freaking champions, people are gonna criticize you, you are on top, they have to try and pull you down.

where is it written that they have to try and pull you down intentionally? If there are legit questions about a champ repeating, that is fine and there will be but the intentional lack of respect is unneccessary. The Spurs stars are either quiet or international, which in the eyes of SAS is akin to being white and therefore inferior. The Lakers got respect as the defending champs and so did Detroit and both rightfully so. What happened to the respect given to a defending champ? I understand how players are going to give it there all when they play the Spurs...you always want to do your best against the current champs to see where you are in your game but that is on the court. The players give their respect to the champs...why can't the media? Used to be a respect and sportsmanship thing....sadly that has all gone out the window in today's sports world.

I beg to defer on the Detroit one, they didn't get any respect from the media until they start playing the Spurs (no idea why). And over the last decade or so, you can notice that a team in a large media market like the Lakers and the Bulls get much respect from the media, while teams like the Rockets, Spurs and Pistons get far less.
My theory is that its all homerism. It's not exclusively a fan thing, media personnel and analysts are homers too. And once there is enough positive reviews for one team, the ball is going to start rolling, and other analyst are going to have to agree to it or else make them look like idiots (see how many people picking the Lakers in the 04 finals despite the fact that Detroit matches up very well with them, and btw, I picked Detroit in 6 in that series, and was chastised by my friends, calling me a Laker hater ... even though I must admit I MAY be biased against the Lakers). It's a lemming effect, and bigger media markets can make this work much easier than small market teams.
It's like a movie review, have you watched the Blair Witch Project? That movied sucked like hell, but once the bandwaggon started rolling, there is no stopping it.

After a promotion that was pretty hyper even by ESPN standards, the debut of Stephen A. Smith's hourlong Quite Frankly ESPN2 talk show Monday drew 0.3% of U.S. cable TV households, 0.1% on Tuesday and 0.3% on Wednesday. That's slightly below what ESPN2 averaged in the show's 6:30 p.m. ET time slot for July — and below ratings for ESPN/ESPN2's recent coverage of the U.S. Open of Competitive Eating.

I am not going to say anything about Shaq but Wade looked pretty messed up in that final game. Miami was up 3-2 before Wade got injured. I feel Miami should've beaten Detroit and will next year. Indiana is better than Detroit to but Wallace took Artest out of the season. Detroit always finds a way in injuring or taking out a key player to get far until San Antonio showed them what a healthy team can do. Malone with the Lakers, J. FYI You guys lost to a Spurs team that had Timmy playing on two sprained ankles, DB didnt even get to play cuz his back and leg was injured, and Manu hurt his leg in game three. So yes, we played injured teams, and so did you. Truth is, most teams are hurting around playoff time. Its what happens when you play an 82 game season. SA and Detroit beat teams that were hurt. But SA was also hurt. And Detroit could not beat a hurt Spurs team. Spurs=World Champs!

^^^ Ok now you lack credibility we earned our title last year and our return trip to the finals! Dont even give me talks on injuries when you faced a Depleted seattle team and a suns team. And calling us Dirty? sheesh. Well you are not really a spurs fan anyways when you are scared of miami. You win a world title have 90% and over of the core coming back and your pissing your pants on the heat. True spurs fans are enjoying the offseason but your not one of them. I hated losing the finals still do but you make it out to sound like you have it worse them me this summer!

The last I've checked Pistons were healthy while Ginobili was hobbled and Devin Brown was injured. Why I am concerned with the Heat is because they have gotten much better while the spurs are the same. I can't see the Spurs win it unless they get somebody who can stop Wade or slow him down. Bowen is on his last legs and any signs of slowing down will kill San Antonio against Miami. That Duncan injury was the result of Detroit being dirty also. It should be called Detriot.

Ill still take my chances with Bowen on Wade. Did you watch Bruce in teh 2005 playoffs??

Last time I checked Miami hasn't proven anything. They proved they can make the playoffs. Big deal. They also proved they can lose in the playoffs. As much as everybody thinks Miami's "Dream Team" is going to roll over the competition they will find it much harder to beat a re-motivated Pistons team, even with Flip at the helm. And Indiana has more to prove then any team now in the East. They are going to have a bigger chip on their shoulder than anybody. I wouldn't be suprised to see Miami get eliminated in the first-round by the newborn Cavs.

Ummm last i checked it takes a team to win. You cant stop a star you can only make him work harder. Spurs staying the same should be a good thing you idiot. They have their core intact they dont need to make any more major moves. You have your team locked up and your pissed about that go figure. You are not a spurs fan anyways. From reading your comments and from what others have been saying your a fake fan but thats typical. Learn the game before you post stupid stuff like that.

we faced a depleted suns team ?? Its ridiculous to think JJ could change the 4-1 series

outcome to the point where the suns would win. And as far as the sonics go, that guy who went down with the ankle injury, forget that guy, who is he. And as far as Lewis,
it was noted by everybody that seattle actually got better without him in the lineup.

I didn't say the spurs had to make any major moves. I thought they could've brought another shooting guard who can lock down quick players like Wade. Maurice Evans would be my pick. The stupid thing is you saying that Wade and Shaq getting injured had no effect in that game 7. If Ben Wallace went down would that effect the game? It is obvioius that Detroit has had more luck than any team in the league when it comes to their teams injuries vs. other teams injuries. Think before you type next time.

Is this thread still laughable? SAS, a prognosticator?

Well, if they do win it all then maybe he's got something. But until that happens, it's still just a guess.

So he MAY be right this year. But it will be the first time! And thats only because of a poorly timed Manu foul.

Also, I am not so sure MIA can beat Dallas (assuming both MIA and DAL win in the CFs).

And a ragged Pistons team, and a great Dallas team, and a weary band of Suns fan, and a tired out Duncan in OT, and a Heat team that's stepped up their game, and and and..........

He likes the heat because their star players are african american. It's funny how racist he is. He sucks as a sports reporter to, never have I seen him pick an underdog, every week "his team" changes depending on who is doing good.
