What if the Lakers drafted Dominique Wilkins #1 overall instead of Big Game James? I wonder how many rangs would Magic have had with Nique running fastbreaks with him. I'm thinking about 8 tbh.

Career averages:
Nique: 24.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 2.5 apg
Worthy: 17.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 3.0 apg

Discuss sons.

Worthy was a better help defender and passer.
And he was quicker

So overall a better player for Riley 's system

Scary thought. However idk if Wilkins would of settled into a 3rd banana role well.

Theres no doubt they would of been tough to beat, considering Wilkins was a great 3 point shooter

Maybe the steal by Henderson in '84 wouldn't have happened. On the contrary, Nique might have choked more games than Worthy did

put wilkins in a role where he didn't have to be the focal point of the offense and i guarantee he becomes a better defender.

Lakers really didn't defend tho. I don't think of the Lakers in terms of the 1999 Spurs, or 2008 Celtics, or the Bad Boy Pistons in the '80s when I think of a defensive juggernaut... Well, unless we talking the 2001 WCFs. :lol

Magic would have made Nique average about 35ppg a few times. He had a few 30ppg years playing with Spud Webb. :lol

With the offense of the Showtime Lakers they really didn't need to defend until they faced the Celtics in the Finals. They got swept in 1989 because Scott and Magic were injured. That was the end of the Showtime Lakers, a golden era in basketball for sure

3rd banana? 2nd at worst. He is a scorer/finisher 1st and foremost. Hell, B Scott led us in scoring one year IIRC. I'd argue that Nique should eat 1st offensively. Let Magic get everybody else involved.

IIRC, I heard that many teams/players in the 80s labeled Wilkins as one of the most selfish players in the league at the time..

The Sporting News also had a players poll where Wilkins was voted the player in the league that gave the least effort on defense:lol..

Pretty much the 80s/90s Carmelo, tbh..

This too.

Between Big Game and Human Highlight Reel, I'd choose the guy who's known as Big Game

Indeed. I'm still pissed with Riles for their 2-a day practices while they were like 11-0 in the playoffs - waiting for a foe. No doubt in my mind we 3peat in the '80s if not for him running the Lakers in the ground. Just think - we should have 3peated in the '80s. But MJ is the undisputed GOAT? Magic should be sitting on 6 rings. Laker haters need to GTFO with that bullshit tbh.

He'd eventually be the 2nd banana. I said 3rd becuase Kareem still thought he was a number 1 until about '85.

Worthy was a great player that fit well in the Lakers squad..

i think a better question would be the Raptors team with Tmac and VC

How did you get in the military without a Green card son? It's honestly not a bad idea though. It would have been a lot better had Bush setup a recruitment office right there on the Rio Grande for niggas to send to Iraq. Would have never gotten all the bad press then with all the new positions opening up daily tbh.

FWIW that was Cleveland's pick. They traded it to the Lake Show for Don Ford a few years earlier. :wow

IMO had the Cavaliers kept that pick they would have used it on Clark Kellogg, FWIW.
