2nd best record in the west with a lot of injuries
30 seconds away of the title last year while built in the exact same way
This year spurs could make a first round exit like they could win it all depending of injuries, Parker being back in shape, Kawhi out of his shooting slump etc...
That's still better than 25 teams out of 30

Ok, is it a bigger risk to try to 1)bring in a athletic all star potential type player even though it may open up other holes(players traded to get him), ruin team chemistry while the player learns the system, or cause future setbacks(lose draft picks) OR 2) keep the team as is, hope they get healthy with the injured players getting back to top form by playoffs and also hoping they can beat the top teams at full strength knowing this may be the best chance in a while to get back to the finals.

Manu can't drive anymore, nor even shooting threes, Splitter is still Splitter. What do you hope guys, what do you hope?

OP is a little premature on this take but if the TDL passes and the Spurs don't make a move they're fucked. This isn't last year where all their competition is injured and they sleepwalk through the West. There's 4 teams that could beat San Antonio in the WC this year--including the Thunder who would stomp their asses out. Houston would beat them too.
Also, :lol at people who say "this forum has fallen off:cry"...yeah, I guess it happened around 2007 when you stopped winning championships. Funny how that works.

I understand the panic from fellow Spurs fans. Timmy's time is running out as is Manu's. And realistically this is probably it if Tim is to get a 5th ring, that is if last year wasn't it. BUT, the trade deadline hasn't passed yet and the Spurs could be trying to make a move. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Panic if nothing happens and the deadline has come and gone. I know I will be upset. But I still love this team, always will. It's been an amazing run and I am trying to soak up as much of this as I can. I just look back and remember how amazing Timmy was when I was in high school. Now I feel as if maybe I took some of it for granted. You just get so used to greatness and how easy he made it look. I suppose it is human nature. Now every shot he makes, every rebound, every time he schools a young guy I just soak it up and marvel over his greatness. I'm in a pure enjoyment phase right now. The pain from last year is still fresh, but we have to enjoy every bit that is left. My kids are so young right now they won't really remember any of this. Yet they plop down and watch with me and cheer for Timmy and the Spurs in their little jerseys. Enjoy this while it is present. These are the times we will look back on and tell the stories about. These are the memories you grow to love.

And this is the right way to be a fan now. Despite our record, the team is not in a good place. Even at the beginning of the season before guys were hurt, the team looked as if it had never played together before. Though we are winning often, speaking relatively, we have not shown the capability of beating other Western playoff teams.
It doesn't make you a better fan to look at the record and go "scoreboard!"
The University of Hawaii football won a shit-ton on games a few years back playing pussy-ass spread offense type shit, but that doesn't they were as good as Alabama. Look at our record and project forward. Take into account competition. Remember the injuries of our conference last year and take those into account. Be honest.
Ignoring problems just makes you a faggot.. We need to cut out the head-in-the-sand bullshit and fucking do something.
"But we beat the Lakers without Kobe and almost beat Miami."
You either win or you lose, faggots, and we're losing the games that matter...every game that matters.
It's not ok.
And before some faggot says some loser-minded shit:
Yes I'm gonna be here when Timmy is gone and we're a fucking lottery team. I've been waiting to draft early for like 8 years. That shit is almost as exciting as winning it all.

If we don't make a trade, I say call it a season. No need in putting extra mileage on the big 3 so sit them out until next year. In the mean time let kawhi run the team and get the experience necessary to become an all star next year. Trade your high draft pick for some legit talent and make one last go at it in 2015. The heat will suck by then and I don't see okc or Indy being able to defend their title

Tim is not Tim of last year yet but he has been balling since the early season slump! He has had some monster games! He still has it left. Parker I agree, he is banged up and just limping at times compared to his play last year when he was an MVP candidate. Manu has looked alot better this year. Splitter is still SPLITTER, yep soft and hurt. I agree on half of that there.

That trade failed in ESPN trade checker, this is the only one that works for the Spurs:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lf2hfu8
Add in a first rounder and I wonder if that's to much value for Pau. Who knows how much he has left in the tank, Splitter will at least bring it defensively for the Spurs. Anyway if Gasol had to part ways with the Lakers trading him to a contender like the Spurs would be classy. I doubt this happens, Gasol's contract is $19 mill a year and the Lakers last game he was watching from the bench.

This team is in the dumps spiritually. Blowing the championship is still an open wound. The injuries, bad losses, and loss of a couple key assistant coaches have drained this team. I just am not seeing much joy in their play with exception of Belinelli. They get pushed around more easily and are nowhere near where they need to be defensively. Spurs have limited physicality to begin with, but absence of Kawhi, Green, Tiago and the fact that the big three are wearing down just gives opponents more opportunity to get a lead and keep it, or to outpace the Spurs in crunch time. They need to get healthy, win at home consistently, and string together some consecutive wins against quality opponents. Portland is going to be a tough start to 2nd half of the season.

Rebuild time.. Title hopes are realistically done with all the injuries..Trade Duncan and Ginobili and let them retire like they did with Bowen. Maybe we can get somebody Greg Monroe from Detroit
God this forum has fallen so goddamn far.
Besides the Bill Russell Celtics, no team wins it all every year. No big two/three wins it all every year either. The fact that ours has won three(+ one, before we even had a big three) is more than enough. After every era of champs, there's a rebuild stage, it's natural. Idk why people are so butt hurt.

Blowing up a team that was just seconds from a championship is beyond asinine. Tim, Tony, and Manu have been the Spurs' gravy train for a long time, and the owners would be stupid to put an end to that prematurely.
What's in the team's best financial interest is to advance as far as they can in the playoffs, and they wouldn't get back enough talent and/or picks to do shit anytime soon. The Big Three put fans in the seats and make the team relevant. Their value to the organization is way, way more than their value as trade pieces.
Besides, the sad reality is, the Spurs are going to get lots of chances to land high lottery picks after the big three retire.
