NaVorro Bowman could realistically return midseason, per Harbaugh.

We need a long range speed receiver, something we tried with Moss and Jenkins. Moss too old, Jenkins too dumb. While Vernon Davis is fast for a TE he's not that fast. We need a low 4.3 guy with some legit track experience.

You guys need a defensive back/wide out, Patrick Willis can hold the fort while bowman is out, plus Brooks & Smith

This. I wouldn't rush back--he's still in his upward prime so to come back after an injury prematurely can really affect how the rest of his career may be jeopardizing. Dude is only going to be 26 this season.

It would be sweet if he loses again @ the CLink in the playoffs and he leaves and becomes coach of the Bengals...All jokes aside...The relationship between Baalke and Harbaugh is toxic now. I think if the 49ers win it all next year, Baalke is gone. If they fall short once more; then Harbaugh is gone by his own volition. By the way, has anyone seen the new Buccaneers unis? Kinda taking a page out the Ducks (Oregon) with the oversized logo...

the team has begun contract negotiations with quarterback Colin Kaepernick, (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1130583/colin-kaepernick) and reportedly they're going well."There are many miles to go on this, of course. Any Kaepernick deal will be very large and any agreement involves many different leaps of faith…," writes columnist Tim Kawakami. "How long a deal will it be? At what salary? How much guaranteed? This could break off on any of those points, at any time, and remember Kaepernick is still under contract for the 2014 season so there's no great imperative… except to get this settled here and now. (And to get Kaepernick paid at a proper level.)"
Kaepernick's contract, which will pay him about $973,000 for 2014, runs through the end of next season, but since he's helped the team to back-to-back NFC title games and a Super Bowl (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/superbowl) XLVII appearance, he's on pace to make at least 12-15 times that per year for a new deal.
The Mercury News reports that the so-called floor on a deal would be $15 million per season, though the paper also raises the possibility of an average between $20 million and $22 million.

like i said in the main thread about the cap, the cap increase doesn't help spenders like my Raiders, since it will just drive up FA prices. however, for teams like Seattle or Baltimore, the cap increases will enable them to keep players they normally would have had to cut. these guys are more interested in retaining guys than signing big name FA's

Of course. It might extend seattle's window though, and make the Flacco deal less crippling down the road. 20 mil per year on a 150 million cap is much easier than on a 120 cap

It makes Flacco easier to cut in 2016 if they have to. Functionally, that gives the Ravens more leverage when they renegotiate his deal in two years.

Anything over $8-10 mil is ridiculous. He's not a Superbowl winning QB and is inferior to Romo by a hefty margin. Niners would be better off letting him walk after next season. If he shows improvement and they win it all, then you can talk a Flacco-type deal.

I knew he was going to want a huge payday, especially after the exposure he's gotten. I wouldn't mind a Flacco deal if they win it all though.

Why did the Niners even draft the guy if they didn't plan on using his speed? He's not a banger and never was, ya get the guy out in space, not unlike what we see with Sproles. Fuck using him as a kick returner, stick his ass out in space. Pitch outs, dump offs, screens. He's obviously a situational player. They never used Ted Ginn Jr right either.

4.5-4.6 range in speed when he came out--not sure what it is now with injuries this past season. Dropped a boatload of passes and that may cost the 49ers in key moments. Was pretty good the 2 years prior and didn't have a QB that is decent like he will have in SF. There are a ton of ego in that wr corps so it'll be interesting to see how they keep Johnson, Crabtree, Davis, and Boldin satisfied. I would guess Crabtree is 1st, Bolding edges 2nd as the slot and possession wr, and Johnson is 3rd as the outside leftside receiver. Kaepernick has no excuses to not force a throw into Crabtree during the playoffs.

49ers OLB Aldon Smith pleaded "no contest" to three felony weapons charges and misdemeanor DUI on Wednesday.

Smith is apparently ready to accept his punishment and get back to football. His sentencing hearing is set for July 25, the week the 49ers report to training camp. The weapons charges stem from a July 2012 incident at Smith's home, when he threw a party and shots were fired -- not by Smith himself -- that hit two partygoers. Smith's DUI arrest happened last September. He faces a maximum of four years and four months in prison. This paves the way for either the team or NFL to hand down a suspension. Smith will likely miss multiple games. He also has the misdemeanor LAX "bomb threat" incident left on his plate.

USA Today's Tom Pelissero confirms it's a "matter of when, and for how long," Aldon Smith will be suspended following Wednesday's no contest pleas to three felony weapons charges, and DUI.

Pelissero expects the NFL to "come down hard," noting that alcohol and guns "are two of the league's hot-button issues." Pelissero compares the situation to that of ex-Bears DT Tank Johnson, who was suspended eight games in 2007 following a weapons charge. The totality and repeated nature of Smith's transgressions are worse than what Johnson did. Eight games would be nice.

This was no surprise. Putting our fan support aside, does such an individual not deserve to do some time behind bars? Imagine living in a community full of people like Aldon.

Anyway, this was expected. He'll miss less than 6 games, putting into consideration the games he already sat last season. But this does put winning the Division with Aldon/Bowman out & such a young secondary quite difficult.

Yeah, if Aldon is out for a significant time, adding no Bowman, then they certainly have a problem. Although they're still the second best team in the division, and not too far off conference wise. They have a DB I like, Tramaine Brock. Not LOB worthy, but still pretty damn good.

After experiencing knee soreness in two practices last week, Marcus Lattimore was considering whether to continue comeback attempt.

At least it wasn't a first round pick, and millions of dollars (Harvin).

Its whatever; at this point we have to hope Bowman and Smith can come back and be factors. If not the season is over. Hell, might be anyway with the way the schedule pans out and how bad Kraep has looked.

Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was ranked the No. 55 linebacker nationally. He chose Wisconsin over scholarship offers from Iowa and Louisville. (2 * recruit by Scout)

They go 1-1 with the Seahawks, beat the Cards, and the Charger game is up in the air (if they get the Chargers of the past few weeks it could prove to be their easiest game).

Borland the rest of the way

That's unfortunate, I actually like Willis, and that's coming from a prime rival. That defense has been stout regardless, only surrendering above 21 points twice this season. With teams scoring above 17 just three times.

God damnit. At least Smith and Bowman will be back soon, and it helps Borland looks promising.

Not easy to win back to back on the road. The Giants at home coming off a loss won't be easy.

Losing Willis really sucks, but I know Borland is gonna step up. He was one of my all time favorite Badgers (along with Watt, R. Wilson and Melvin Gordon) and the silver lining is that he is going to gain a lot of expierence. I really think he will be a future star, but I do have a Badger bias.

Can't wait to see Aldon and, hopefully, Bowman back!

Sorry Avante, you're my boy and all, but I don't consider you a true 9ers fan... I've never met a San Fran fan that gets a hard one on for a division rival... I've never met any fan that pulls for a divisional rival lol.

I'm referring to hehateme, and Rudy Gay (robz)

Roids must have finally caught up with him. This clown entered the league as a speedy pass-rushing OLB/DE and became a dominant interior lineman :lol

I own a half dozen Niner ball caps. A Niner clock. A gigantic binder of Niner football cards, page one....

Y.A.Tittle
Joe "The Jet" Perry
Hugh "The King" McElhenny
Abe Woodson
JD Smith
RC Owens
Leo "The Lion" Nomellini
Bob St.Clair
Billy Wilson

Now add Niner sweat shirts, candle holders, incense holders and other...stuff. Yep, a life long Niner fan/freak. I could teach Niner history starting at day one. Not a Niner I'm not aware of.

So you're wrong about that.

I just keep it real, not silly about it.
