Awesome for the Ravens. They go from a team who could keep everyone they really wanted a maybe pick up a bargain FA or two to a team that can be legitimate buyers if they want.

Very nice. Houston has some players on the roster that are making too much money that they were going to have to possibly cut. Perhaps they can keep them now.

Yup...give Ozzie even 1 dollar more in cap room and he'll make miracles...can't wait to see what they do this offseason.

This won't make too much a difference. Will just drive up rates for free agents

:lmao Everyone predicting that Flacco's contract would kill the Ravens

Ozzie is a beast, tbh....

Why don't we wait for the ravens to do something before laughing at those people

Don't have to, Ozzie's track record of excellence gives him the benefit of the doubt.

Now that reports have put the salary cap as high as $132 million for 2014, the same source has said, once again, it will be higher.Per the source, the cap could be a “few million” higher than $132 million. If this means $3 million more than reported, the cap could be as high as $135 million. That would amount to an 9.75 percent increase over last year, the biggest spike by far since the 2011 labor deal was negotiated.

this is more useful for teams that were above the cap that suddenly don't need to make any cuts. for teams like Oakland with spending money, its just gna drive up the prices for FA's..

that assumes your team wants to spend all its capspace this year but they'd be foolish to have that mindset.

not about my team specifically. in general, i dont think teams that had money to throw around are going to benefit as much as some think. this helps teams like baltimore, seattle though. teams that are planning on spending are now going to have a more difficult time outbidding since everybody has more spending money

The champs are still gonna cut some...gotta pay for Bennett and Tate. Maybe go for a OL, too. Also gotta pay the acoustic people for their wonderful job at the CLink.

Joseph, Daniels, and Manning can all get the hell out. Brice McCain too.

luckily for the hawks, their QB is still dirt cheap. He's eligible for food stamps, if I'm not mistaken.

Seriously, the Ravens need some more Texans cast-offs. Daniels and Manning would be awesome.

Leach was obviously hard to let go. Jacoby Jones' underproduction was a product of a shitty special teams' coach. Manning, Joseph, and Daniels are all old and can't stay healthy. Plus Joseph sucks now no matter the defensive scheme.

I'm fine with Baltimore squeezing the last year or two of good production out of them like they did with Pollard.

Yeah, 2015 is when the costs go up--that's when Sherman, Wilson, and Thomas are due mad money...

Ravens should just draft Amaro

Not a fan. If Evans, Watkins and Ebron are off the board, I wouldn't want then Ravens to draft a pass-catcher until 27 or so. Too many good players available to reach.

But you want to spend free agent money on Daniels?

Big difference between using a first-rounder on a backup TE and signing one who's been cut (in this scenario) and who has familiarity with the system. It's not like Daniels would get big money, and he wouldn't count against comp picks.

^Yeah, that pretty much cements the Flacco deal won't hurt the Ravens like the detractors had hoped for.

^the seahawks also look a lot scarier with that, and won't lose as many pieces as the detractors would have hoped

if only Al Davis was around so we could use this cap room to make some Tommy Kelly, Deangelo Hall, and Javon Walker esque signings

I hated playing with the Raiders in NFL Head Coach 09. It took years to get rid of all those contracts, and I ended up having to start Andrew Walter for a few years. And that was before the Seymour trade.

Sure. But Andrew Walter. I don't even know who that guy is outside the context of that game. He was randomly rated 86 overall. I thought he was their QB of the future for a while there.

He was a beast in college, left with a bunch of Pac-10 records at the time. I just read up on him, apparently after he retired at 27 he went back to school, got an MBA, and is going to be running for the House of Representatives for Arizona in 2014 :lol

Interestingly enough, I have attended a Raiders win where Andrew Walter started at QB. It was in 2006 season against the defending superbowl champ steelers. granted we had less than 100 yards of offense, but 4 interceptions, 2 for TD's and we won.
