View Full Version : Spurs: Why Was Bruce Bowen Not In The Game When 0.4 Happened?

It was like the prelude to 6 and Pop's insistence on taking Timmy out at the end of the game. He also took Bruce out on that fateful night in the spring of 2004, resulting in 0.4...

Watch closely. No Bruce... I never really thought about this until today, but why???

lol that play is basically brady's tuck rule fumble, tbh

Bullshit no matter how you look at it, and even worse now that we know the refs were actively helping the Lakers back then.

Absolutely. Though I still can't get over the sight of him dry humping Heat personnel's legs. The old coot.

It was off before the clock expired.

It was off before the clock expired.the clock didn't start as soon as he got the ball. Human reflexes are only so quick, and when dealing with such a short time(.4 seconds), I can see why the clock started late. Still deserves an asterisk, though.

Tbh I wasn't even a Spurs fan back in 04. Being a kid growing up in Mi I was a Pistons fan. So I don't have any I'll feelings towards the Lakers because you gave my home team our first ring in years :lol A lot of my friends still hate the Spurs for stopping the pistons from repeating in 05 :rollin

Well, that was the protocol back then. Couldn't be avoided.

Helluva shot by Duncan preceded it though. Forgot about that in the ensuring melee.

It was ... As great as O'neal was he couldnt of hit that shot with a 100 tries ...heck duncan only hits that again maybe 5 out of 100 ...it was crazy clutch.

Timmy was slim and bit more lean muscular back then too ...to bad these guys gotta age. that series had prime duncan/Kobe/Manu and Shaq(tail end) With old and busted GP/Malone and young TP ...
So much talent.

Pop's micromanagement is a blessing and a curse
:tu

this is what I've realized as well. Pop puts so many players in positions to succeed that would be considered scrubs elsewhere, or would get grinded down elsewhere, but then sometimes he just overdoes it. Spurs have too many damn heartbreaks and Pop is part of those fuckups, but then we've also surpassed what small market teams were supposed to be capable of, especially in the previous CBA era.

& the dignity and composure of the Spurs players after Fisher's shot was commendable. Just amazing as the camera pans as the replay is judged. Even if I'd a stayed can ya imagine it?:rolleyes

It was Pop's mistake. No way Fisher could shot over Hedo or Bowen, they should have been on the floor instead of Manu and Devin. That being said, I had the impression Phil figured out how to win that series, it took a circus shot by Duncan to put the Spurs in position to win the game at home, they would have lost games 6 and 7 anyway. The Lakers were better, tbh.
