"NBA president of basketball operations Rod Thorn and vice president Kiki Vandeweghe acknowledged in a recent interview with ESPN.com that the league office, at least in an exploratory fashion, has weighed expanding the dimensions of the court and the introduction of a 4-point shot.

"No one at the NBA, nor the competition committee, has had any serious conversations about increasing the size of the floor or adding a 4-point line," Frank said in a statement. "Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe were entertaining a line of questioning about out-of-the-box ideas"

Doesn't seem like its going to happen but interesting, nonetheless.

They said it was a BS article ESPN wrote. No one from NBA said anything about a 4-point line.

It would be interesting to see the coaches' mass suicide.

There was talk of widening the court a few years ago, to open up the game, but it would mean losing seats ($$$), so that was out.

Expanding the court should be a priority. The three point shot at the corners is too short for these grown men. I'd like to see sidelines and baselines expanded about 18 inches on all sides. Three point shot at corners need to be pushed back another 12 inches at corners.

Why not a SIX point shot for a shot from back court. Just imagine a successful desperation heave from a trailing team in the closing seconds. What excitement, what skill, what luck, what bullshit.

Not to mention the entertainment value of a coach like Pop reacting to a loss by the 6 pt. shot.

Agreed. These guys have gotten to big and fast for the current dimensions. 7' run around like guards now. They game has gotten to crowded.

You shouldn't cut out one part of the game to improve another. Get back to the physical defense allowed (ie hand checking), but expand the floor to allow guys move around more.

4 point shot and free sex when guarding opponents that should keep people watching...

I wouldn't complain if half court shots back, were made worth 4 points. It shrinks the blowout range.

4 point shot? I can see it now...the comeback of Antoine Walker. Hey, Antoine, why do you take so many 3 point shots? "Because there ain't no 4 point shots!!!"

No way they're adding a 4pt shot imo. What next, little circles along the 3pt line worth 5 like in rock n jock basketball?

Increasing the court size though I can see that. . .like 6-12 inches each side because dudes are always stepping out of bounds on the sides on corner threes and on catch and drives from the same spots.

I always thought the court should be maybe 2 feet wider
