61 points on 12FTA? Seriously?

Has anyone ever scored more than 60 with less than 20FTAs?

Didn't you also call Stephen Curry's game against the Knicks last year the greatest offensive performance of the decade?

Today's performance was insane, but I'd give it a few days or weeks to see how it sets in.

Short memories! Only deal with the now and forget about the past games that were just as impressive or moreso.

Kobe scored 65 against the Blazers in 2007. He took less than 15 FTA if I remember it right.

I stand by Curry's game as one of the top 2 or 3 of the decade. Only Kobe's 60+ against Portland was better (and Lebron's now).

81 and 62 in 3 quarters were aided by a shitload of freethrows.

I would say Great Satan dominated a shitty team that would not be in playoff contention if they were in the west. This is probably the most overrated offensive performance of the modern era.

Hopefully we can lessen the pain by ringing this year. It will be a tall task getting out of the West, however. Let alone winning the Finals.

That won't lessen the pain. Ringing in '14 and 6 are stand alone entities. You'll never get over last June. And you shouldn't. Any Spurs Fan worth his salt will take that to his grave. You've been touched, scarred, educated. You know it all now. Before you only knew victory & purity. Now you know boundless pain.

& in a sense you'll be better men for it. Your count will always be light 1, but, thru this endless trial you've had an awakening in parts of your mind and heart and soul you never realized was living within your countenance.

Now, now you know.

Pretty rare feat.

What's impressive about Lebron's (and Carmelo's) performances are the number of shot attempts. Kirb's Portland game was awesome. No hate there.

Jordan's 63 against the '86 Celtics (@Boston...they had the best home record of all-time that year btw) was far more impressive. Those '86 Celtics were one of the greatest teams of all-time, and were amazing at home that year. For a 22 year-old sophomore player to go in there and drop 63 points is insane. Much more impressive than a 61 point game (albeit with noticeably more efficiency) in the regular season at home against the Bobcats.

Kobe scored 65 against the Blazers in 2007. He took less than 15 FTA if I remember it right.

65 points on 11-12 from the FT line, so he had the same amount of FTs as Lebron.
23-39 shooting
8-12 from 3

7 reb 3 ast 3 stl

And it was a close game and he hit some epic clutch shots, so it's not like he padded his stats being up 20 in the 4th.

tbh, that game is often considered a turning point in Jordan's career, where he realized that no herculean effort he could make by himself would ever put him over the hump. That is, he needed help to make it to the top. The fact that it was a loss is quite significant, and I'm sure that Jordan (a guy who was all and only about winning), would say the same. A great performance, but a stepping stone/learning experience to later greatness nonetheless.

And Lebron could have taken even less shots, 2 of his buckets came off put-backs from his own missed layups.

That is, he needed help to make it to the top. The fact that it was a loss is quite significant, and I'm sure that Jordan (a guy who was all and only about winning), would say the same. A great performance, but a stepping stone/learning experience to later greatness nonetheless.

In the Jordan at 50 interview he said that exact thing, he would've rather win with 20 points than lose with 63 (or something along those lines, can't remember the exact words he used)

Kobe against Portland was probably the best performance I remember.

Shit, I forgot about Melo's game.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201401240NYK.html

On only 10 FTs (but 2 more shots).

Melo: 23/35 FG, 6/11 3FG, 10/10 FT, 13 REB (1 off), 0 AST, 0 TOV, 62 PTS
LeBron: 22/33 FG, 8/10 3FG, 9/12 FT, 7 REB (3 off), 5 AST, 2 TOV, 61 PTS

Very close. I had to dig through the play-by-play to see how many possessions they each used.
Melo: 35 FGA, 3 for FTs (3 two-shot fouls, 4 FTs were technicals that don't use possessions), 39 total
LeBron: 33 FGA, 5 for FTs (5 two-shot fouls, 2 and-1s that don't use possessions), 2 TOV, 40 total

Melo's numbers were very slightly better (1 more point, 1 fewer possession used, more rebounds), but LeBron had 5 more assists and didn't get 4 techs to help him out.

Not taking anything away from his night, but this is by no mean the greatest offensive performance of the modern era. You could argue it isn't even the best of the season with Melo's explosion against Charlotte. Personally that was the best offensive game of the season and Kobe's 81 is hands down the greatest scoring performance of the modern era and arguably all time. I dont' care that he got a good amount of free throws, he scored fucking 81 points

I can see get jollies on the small numbers:::5, 4, 17, 16, 2, 1, but, this shit is just Media driven nonsense.

This, tbh. 81 points is ridiculous considering Kirby's a guard. You could argue that he played against the Raptors that game, but Lebron stat-padded his way against the fucking Bobcats.

Also I have no idea why the team you play, regardless of being a good defensive team or not, has any bearing on these type of performances. If scoring 81 against a shitty Raptors team is so easy why hasn't anyone else even come remotely close to doing it? Or if 61 against the Bobcats isn't impressive how come stars aren't doing that every night?

61 points on 12FTA? Seriously?

Has anyone ever scored more than 60 with less than 20FTAs?

There had been a few.

:sleep

there's at least a dozen players this season that have had better games.

this is sarcasm right? its incredible that i even have to ask but on this board you can never be safe. Not only are you saying there have been a dozen different games that were better (implying the same player could have put up better performances a couple times), but you are saying 12 different players had better games.

go ahead and show me 12 players who put up better numbers than 61, 7, 5, 8 threes

the win was basically bagged by Miami after 3 quarters but the Great Satan continued to play and added 10+ points to his stat line only to notch the 60 mark. Kobe who is god never stat-pads that same pathetic way as the bald Satan did last night tbh

Dominique knows that the Great Satan's performance was not worthy of praise. This guy is very overrated he would have sucked if he came in the league around the same time that God entered.

That's not what I'm saying though. Like when people say lol bobcats, if its so easy to do this to them why does it so rarely ever happen

If I were a Heat fan, this might frustrate me:

The four-time MVP finished with 22 points, one night after setting a club record with a career-high 61 against Charlotte. He acknowledged before Tuesday’s game that he was “extremely tired” and that he spent most of the day sleeping.

Maybe one day he'll mentally get it so that he can hit the 70 win mark like MJ did.

Only because of last june. You keep him under your heel there and you're big man on campus. Your Duncan is safe & secure living the high life, sans the shit bag, your Pop is smokin' big fat Cubans, & I'm glued to the Lazy Boy.

Would that have made you happy to see the Kang denied, or upset because it adds even more to Duncan's legacy?

I was happier to see Duncan lose, but, I wanted to see the truth about the Finals, the whole story. We never got that. We were hit by a 50 foot tidal wave and coronation for James.

But, it's not like I had a lot of choices. I had two. And I didn't want to see James suffer. I want to see Media suffer and that would have happened had the Spurs hung on, but, then I'd have to come in here and get absolutely ravaged by you animals.

---

In other news::: within the last 15 minutes Cowherd picked the Spurs to come out of the West. He changed from his initial pick of the Warriors.

If Parker gets and stays healthy I like us against anyone, including the Thunder. It'll be interesting to see how little Russell reacts if they fail to make the finals this year. I'm betting it won't be too pretty.

Right now Houston looks like a bear. I don't envy anyone trying to knock them out if they keep playing like this.
