View Full Version : LeBron James complains about the jerseys after the game.

I just saw on Inside the NBA on TNT, that LeBron James complained about the jerseys they wore tonight, because he doesn't like short sleeve shirts and it feels like they tug on him when he shoots. Nothing related to the Spurs, just thought Spurs fans would get a huge laugh out of how much of a whiner and girl LeBron is. Once again refusing to give SA credit.

this has been a universal complaint about the jerseys since their inception. they suck ass and look terrible. the more the stars bitch about them the better so the short-sleeves don't become the standard.

I agree they look like shit and could possibly affect a player's game, but it didn't seem to be bothering Timmy. Js.

What a load of horseshit IMO. For me personally when I went to the park every night to play pick up games I could be wearing t-shirts, tank tops, under armour shirts, my polo shirt from work, and whatever was clean in my dresser. Never did I think a shirt was affecting my shot. If I had a bad shooting night, it was just that...a bad shooting night. Those things happen. Plus at the NBA level you can't make those types of excuses, especially when players spend hours of repetition on their shot. Hell, when they're warming up before a game don't they have t-shirts, sweats, long sleeve shirts, those sleeves on their arms, and whatever else they got on? Wouldn't all that crap mess up their shooting rhythm?

Personally I never shoot in anything with sleeves. I can definitely feel it affect my shooting arm as I'm rising. I'm a spot up shooter though so I like to have that rhythm.

LeBron shouldn't be making excuses but I think i would actively hate shooting in those "jerseys". They look terrible and seem to be affecting more than just LeBron.

Sleeves can effect your shot. . .but I would assume they wouldn't release jerseys with narrow shoulders so they actually did. If you're wearing a big shirt it really doesn't effect your shot at all. It's only when you're wearing something with narrow shoulders or a jacket. . .not a fuckin light stretchy jersey with wide shoulders that's designed NOT to effect your jumper. :lmao

The Spurs didn't seem to have a problem making shots last night. Neither did most players.

But having said that. i reckon he hasnt recovered from his 61pt game and felt it more than us.

Another reason he's not the best of the best, when you are you dont complain about jerseys and say you're tired.

Good on LeBron for complaining. They look like shit. The more high profile players complain about them the better to hopefully finally get rid of them. They look like amateur high school or college kids in those stupid jerseys. BTW I've never worked out why those college ballers actually wear short sleeve t-shirts under their jersey wtf, they not happy with how their biceps and triceps look or something, they got bad skin or hairy shoulders and are too shy to wear a proper jersey I don't know? The sooner they are outlawed the better imo

I could agree LeBron that it's difficult to take a shot with a fitted sleeves which I experienced when I'm playing with a slight fitted t-shirt but no because he's an professional athlete. :downspin:

Sleeve...means "Kawhi" in Akron/Ohio. It's slang!

When you get right down to it, the NBA is all about the Benjamins. Sleeves, No sleeves, Throwbacks, Nicknames, Camouflage, El or Los Anything. Do you think these "El/Los" jerseys are REALLY about celebrating hispanic/latin american heritage?

Honestly the whining about the comment in this thread is lamer than the comment itself. They're shittyass jerseys and he even conceded that he wasn't making an excuse for the loss, I mean it's not like he could anyway since everyone wore those shitty jerseys so if he's arguing that they potentially hamper a player's shot then that applies to the Spurs as well.
If this is a step in the direction of stopping the NBA from trying to cram those lameass things down everyone's throats then that's great.

This, basically.

If it helps to get those horrible things killed off, I'm all for the complaining. I'd love to see a team flat-out refuse to wear them.

1/7 vs Lakers on 12/25
1/11 vs Western Conference All Stars on 2/16*
1/7 vs Spurs on 3/6
*It was the All Star Game but one would think in a game with such little defense he would hit more than 1 Jumper.

He had already said he didn't like the jerseys before the Christmas game

I wasn't looking at the shot chart, but those #'s from the Laker game are not accurate. He was 0-4 from 3 and 7-14 overall, though watching the recap videos, he only hit 1 mid range shot and the rest was post ups and dunks. But I didn't realize the trend of his 3 point shooting.

I will say this. If they bother him so much, he doesn't have to wear skin tight jerseys to show off his physique more. Plain and simple. They warm up with short sleeve shirts, but they're looser. He could have worn a bigger size. He should have known this after the X-Mas game and definitely after the ASG.

Same rason why novels started coming out with differing jacket covers for the same title. Hoping to sucker some schlub who wants the complete set out of his money.

Everybody commending Lebron saying that the sleeved jerseys changed his shot is a moot point. Queen James came off a 61 point game, and has been known for taking it to the basket this whole season. If he truly was annoyed at the sleeves, then he should just stop bitching and take it to the basket more. Oh that's right, he couldn't against Kawhi and the Spurs.

Yes, it can seem like whining but if he was asked a question, can't blame him. But the more players complain, the more likelihood they'll be abolished. Remember the synthetic rubber ball they made the players use a few years ago? The players complained enough that they eventually stopped using them. The NBA equipment director even said as much about the long sleeve jerseys. He said if the players disliked them he wasn't going to force them but to his knowledge he hasn't gotten a lot of complaints.
