Well, I hope it wasn't like that one flight that left Brazil and lost radio contact and literally fell from the sky. Terrible way to die in my opinion. I'm a pessimist but I would love to see some survivors in this story. Where is Denzel?

That plane from Brazil was a Airbus that had a frozen airspeed indicator. This one was a Boeing 777 and
is supposed to be one of the safest planes made with a good safety record.

If you've ever flown over an ocean you'd know that there's a lot of water to cover to find one relatively small plane (probably only pieces), plus they don't radar planes the entire trip. They keep radio coms but when they lose that, there's no tower monitoring radar to see the plane disappear.

they should've restricted the searching area along the line of the oil trace. The pilot knew the plane was gonna crash so he discharged the oil before the plant hit the water, which means the plane shouldn't be too far away from the oil trace. The trace points to the direction where the plane was heading, but it's quite obvious the yellows are too dumb to figure it out tbh.

I bet that if the UN promise to grant the country which's first to find the crashed plane the right to claim the entire South China sea, the plane would be found within an hour from now, tbh. The biggest irony is that all those countries want to claim the sea but they can't even find a fucking plane within what they think as their own water territory, which's pathetic.

Traces drift with the current, so it's hard to know their location and if you're off as much as 500 feet you totally change the cone.

A lot of people are saying it's linked with terrorism but IMO human trafficking is just as likely especially from this part of the world (Southeast Asia). It would be smarter for them to go through a connecting airport in a different country(Beijing) rather than straight to the destination country (Europe etc) bc of how they check passports during boarding/exiting.

There are reports that the plane might've turned backwards so for all we know they s&r may be looking in the wrong part of the ocean

I guess you can pretty much rule out survivors/plane landing somewhere. In this day in age, 2-3 days without communication is an eternity and even if survivors survived the initial crash, could they really last this long in open waters?

I seriously doubt the "oil slick" sighted was from the plane. There wouldn't be enough hydraulic fluid to be that large, and fuel wouldn't be as visible.

A Chinese family successfully rang the mobile phone of a passenger on board Malaysia Airlines plane MH370 which is still missing after it lost contact with the ground on Saturday.
A video clip of a man dialing the number of his elder brother was shown on Beijing Television's news bulletin. The call got connected, but no one picked up.
The man, who did not give his name, spoke to reporters at a Malaysia Airlines briefing in Beijing. He claimed that he made a total of three calls, but no one answered.
Desperate family members have asked Malaysia Airlines to use satellite technology to pick up the mobile phone signals of passengers before their phones run out of batteries.

I doubt it. The news accounts show no debris yet. Some floating debris should have been spotted by now. I will assume the two or more with stolen passports took over the plane, flew under the radar, turned off the trackers, and landed or crash landed it on land someplace.

they were obviously terrorists and it's a legit terrorist attack, which coincides with the knife slaughter that took place just a few days prior. they attacked the plane's electronic-controlling system using computer virus, with the purpose of taking control of the plane and launching a terrorist attack on beijing in a way similar to 9/11, but their technology turned out to be insufficient to accomplish such a mission. They paralyzed the plane and caused it to dive in the sea. There're prudent security checks at the airport but it's basically impossible to keep all passengers under check when the plane is already in the sky imho. Terrorists could sneak into the plane's controlling unit and upload the virus into the plane from an iphone, a laptop or shit. This case marks the start of a new age of hijack/terrorist attack imho, they no longer need guns or bombs to hijack a plane.

Sadly, the plane might have crashed at angle not allowing it to float. What's even worse is that, it's possible that every single passenger is with the plane deep in the ocean/sea..making it extremely difficult to find.

I know this is going to be a really dumb question, but can phones be called even if it's sinked in water or does it get broke if it stays long enough in water?

Bill_Brasky

^when you call an international number or a number that's traveling, you hear the normal ring a couple of times, then once the signal reaches the person you're trying to call the ring tone changes based on whatever region the phone is in.

Still, the only way they are going to work inside the aircraft so far away from land is if it has a cell repeater inside. Once the plane no longer functions, they would be too far from a tower. If this is fact, it could be what I suggested. They flew under radar and landed, or attempted to land elsewhere.

I would think it's possible they attempted to belly land the plane on water, and it sunk. That would explain no floating debris found yet.

Yeah, because I spend most of my time on here trolling--anyhow, it is an interesting case although it is a tad different than the Air France Brazil/Paris flight that disappeared for 5 days in that the AF flight was finally located near a underwater mountain range vastly deeper than where the Air Malaysia flight was last heard from. The technology has gotten better and though it is probably not going to be a great outcome, hopefully they can find the black box/voice recorder and find out what truly happened. They have what? 30 days before the ping of the black box/VR signal goes offline?

Was it due to the pinging of the boxes? I don't recall. I remember seeing the episode of Air Disasters (a great show if you're into things like airplane crashes and their causes...like the cargo door shitty design that doomed a Turkish Airlines' crash in the 70's Lockheed L-110 TriStar) but I don't recall if they found it because of dumb luck or they were able to ping it. Whatever the case, this is an interesting one being that the Boeing 777 is supposed to be one of the more safer airplanes out there.

I figured it was 30 days--that doesn't give search teams enough time and so an ocean crash is always that more difficult. Not that any crash is easy. I was amazed that there was another crash in Queens, NY like right after 9/11. Sad time for the families and hopefully they'll find closure to this tragic event.

Police were tonight probing a mystery Iranian called "Mr Ali” who bought the tickets for passengers who used stolen passports on the missing Malaysian plane.

"Mr Ali” purchased the flights from a travel agent after insisting he wanted "cheap” tickets.

There was still no sign of the Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 which has disappeared without trace.

Authorities admitted the incident was an "unprecedented mystery” as they struggled to make any headway in the investigation.

The FBI became involved when a Thai travel agent admitted she had arranged the travel for an Iranian customer she only knew as "Mr Ali.”

Grand Horizon travel agency owner Benjaporn Krutnait said she had been asked to book inexpensive flights for Europe on March the 1st.

Eventually she purchased the two tickets for the doomed flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and on to Amsterdam.

One of the most eerie rumors came after a few relatives said they were able to call the cellphones of their loved ones or find them on a Chinese instant messenger service called QQ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent_QQ) that indicated that their phones were still somehow online.

A migrant worker in the room said that several other workers from his company were on the plane, including his brother-in-law. Among them, the QQ accounts of three still showed that they were online, he said Sunday afternoon.

Adding to the mystery, other relatives in the room said that when they dialed some passengers’ numbers, they seemed to get ringing tones on the other side even though the calls were not picked up.
The phantom calls triggered a new leve

In a strange twist, Malaysia's military believes it tracked the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 by radar over the Strait of Malacca, far from where it last made contact with civilian air traffic control over the Gulf of Thailand.

A military source confirmed with Reuters that the Boeing 777-200ER with 239 on board changed course and made it to the other side of the Malay peninsula.
"It changed course after Kota Baru and took a lower altitude. It made it into the Malacca Straits," the military official, who has been briefed on investigations, told Reuters.

"The last time the plane could be traced by an air control tower was near Pulau Perak, which is on the Straits of Malacca at 2.40am.
"After that, the signal from the plane was lost," he said.
Incidentally, Malaysia Airlines first statement on the missing jetliner on Saturday said that air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane at 2.40am but it was later corrected to 1.30am.
It was also reported that a Singaporean air traffic surveillance and control unit also picked up the signal that MH370 "made a turn back before it was reported to have climbed 1,000 metres from its original altitude at 10,000 metres”.

The plane reported went off radar and its last known location was 065515 North (latitude ) and 1033443 East (longitude).
This is also supported with police reports made by some east coast residents, who claimed that they have seen huge lights and a plane flying at some 1,000 metres above sea level off Kota Baru.
However, search and rescue (SAR) authorities have failed to find any sign of the plane in the waters of the South China Sea.
Indications that MH370 might have turned back have since led the SAR operations to be expanded to the Straits of Malacca and the Andaman Sea.

CNN) -- [Breaking news update at 1:23 p.m. ET]

The Malaysian Air Force has traced the last known location of Malaysia Airlines flight 370 to a spot above Pulau Perak, a very small island in the Straits of Malacca and hundreds of miles from the usual Kuala Lumpur to Beijing flight path, according to a senior Malaysian Air Force official.

The official declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

If the Malaysian Air Force data cited by the source is correct, the aircraft was flying the opposite direction from its scheduled destination and on the opposite side of the Malay Peninsula from its scheduled route.
Previous accounts had the aircraft losing touch with air traffic control near the coast of Vietnam.

(CNN) -- Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was hundreds of miles off course, traveling in the opposite direction from its original destination and had stopped sending identifying transponder codes before it disappeared, a senior Malaysian Air Force official told CNN Tuesday.

If correct, these are ominous signs that could call into question whether someone in the cockpit might have deliberately steered the plane away from its intended destination, a former U.S. aviation investigator said.

"This kind of deviation in course is simply inexplicable," said Paul Goelz, former managing director of the National Transportation Safety Board.

However, veteran pilot Kit Darby, president of Aviation Information Resources, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that mechanical problems could still explain everything: A power failure would have turned off the main transponder and its backup, and the plane could have flown for more than an hour, he said.

According to the Malaysian Air Force official, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media, the plane's transponder apparently stopped working at about the time flight controllers lost contact with it, near the coast of Vietnam.

China's State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense announced the discovery, including images of what it said were "three suspected floating objects and their sizes." The objects aren't small at 13 by 18 meters (43 by 59 feet), 14 by 19 meters and 24 by 22 meters.
The images were captured on March 9 -- which was the day after the plane went missing -- but weren't released until Wednesday.
The Chinese agency gave coordinates of 105.63 east longitude, 6.7 north latitude, which would put it in waters northeast of where it took off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and south of Vietnam.

not likely tbh, otherwise why haven't they found any fragments yet? If the plane was shot down and an explosion happened, a good amount of fragments would've been scattered all over the surface of the sea, which would've been easily discovered imho. The fact is, the plane was electronically attacked and was paralyzed, the pilot lost control of it and the plane done head down all the way into the sea in one piece. And I don't think chinks could launch a fighting jet or long-range missile to shoot down a bowing 777 in the airspace of another country's without notifying the US radars.

if trimming the population was their motive to "shoot down" the plane, as you put it, then it doesn't make much difference when there were only 130 something chinks on board, imho. Chinks could've just sent some tanks to the crowded urban streets and killed more people without wasting no missiles. Population is in proportion to tax income so the huge population is an advantage to the chinks government rather than a disadvantage, tbh.

U.S. officials have an "indication" the missing Malaysia Airlines (http://abcnews.go.com/topics/business/airlines/malaysia-airlines.htm) jetliner may have crashed in the Indian Ocean and is moving the USS Kidd to the area to begin searching. It will take another 24 hours to move the ship into position, a senior Pentagon official told ABC News.
"We have an indication the plane went down in the Indian Ocean," the senior official said.
The official initially said there were indications that the plane flew four or five hours after disappearing from radar and that they believe it went into the water. Officials later said the plane likely did not fly four or five hours, but did not specify how long it may have been airborne.

Two U.S. officials tell ABC News the U.S. believes that the shutdown of two communication systems happened separately on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. One source said this indicates the plane did not come out of the sky because of a catastrophic failure. The data reporting system, they believe, was shut down at 1:07 a.m. The transponder -- which transmits location and altitude -- shut down at 1:21 a.m.

This indicates it may well have been a deliberate act, ABC News aviation consultant John Nance said.

"They" being...?

My guess it that it was something like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_South_Dakota_Learjet_crash

On October 25, 1999, a chartered Learjet 35 was scheduled to fly from Orlando, Florida to Dallas, Texas. Early in the flight the aircraft, which was cruising at altitude on autopilot, quickly lost cabin pressure. All on board were incapacitated due to hypoxia — a lack of oxygen. The aircraft failed to make the westward turn toward Dallas over north Florida. It continued flying over the southern and midwestern United States for almost four hours and 1,500 miles (2,400 km). The plane ran out of fuel and crashed into a field near Aberdeen, South Dakota after an uncontrolled descent.

After they lost contact with it, a couple of military fighter flights got a visual on it, as it continued to fly until it ran out of fuel.

They need to be looking along the line of a circle with a rough radius dictated by how much fuel the Malyasian flight would have had when it lost contact.

Since they know how long the plane had power, they can guess its flight time, which was probably dictated by the amount of fuel on board.

Take a line with the last known speed and direction (i.e. velocity) that has as its starting point the last known location, contains the destination, and ends at about the point where it would run out of fuel. Start there, then simply follow a circle around based on that rough calculation.

My 2 cents. Total guess on my part. Interesting to theorize about at this point, though I have little doubt this will, or has already, created a fucktarded conspiracy theory somewhere.

I was thinking the cabin depressurized as well, but damn what are the chances that happens AND the transponder loses power?

I was thinking the cabin depressurized as well, but damn what are the chances that happens AND the transponder loses power?

Heard an interesting bit about how the planes are designed last night that might have an answer.

My memory of what they were talking about from one of the aviation experts:
When the planes get failures, the planes are designed to keep power going to the controls as a priority, meaning if there is not enough power to run all the systems, the plane is designed to mechanically prioritize where the power goes.

I would guess, based on that bit, that the transponder is not a high-priority when it comes to that "pecking order" since things needed to actually keep the plane in flight would probably be higher.

Losing power to the transponder would be consistent with a mechanical failure scenario, based on that.

Heard an interesting bit about how the planes are designed last night that might have an answer.

My memory of what they were talking about from one of the aviation experts:

Makes sense. It's the least zany idea I've heard yet, so probably closest to the truth. I immediately thought of Payne Stewart when I heard the circumstances.

The fate of flight 93 maybe?

All scenarios are still on the table. But the Malaysian PM gave a press conference last night saying that the aircraft last ping'd a satellite 7+ hours after takeoff. Radar also shows erratic ascent/descent of the plane that very well could have been an attempt to render the crew/passengers unconscious.

All speculation at this point, but i think it's a fairly good chance it was hijacked. Why we haven't heard a terrorist group take credit can mean several things but to me it's either because a) the flight was intended to do some 9/11 type damage over land but crashed before it could do so b) hijacking the plane was only another a step in the terrorist plot.

Hoping they find it soon because it must suck to have family on the plane and be dicked around with contradicting info from the Malaysian, Chinese, and US govt tbh.

Interesting none of the experts have commented that the plane turned back and crossed back over the peninsula at the border of Malaysia and Thailand. Was this be design of the pilot to confuse both the Malaysian and Thailand radar? Second, if indeed the plane increased it's altitude to 40,000+ feet, was this also be design so as to get the palne so high, no possible cell calls could be attempted while crossing back over the peninsula?

So, the planes computer flight plane was changed by someone in he plane either at the airport or in the air to make that left turn, the plane completed the left turn and then the co-pilot said good night to the Malaysian air traffic control. Was the timing of that turn by design as the pilot exited Malaysian airspace and should have been entering Vietnamese airspace?

Sounds like a very well planned and orchestrated operation. My guess is that only one of the pilots is involved and that would be the co-pilot, who probably incapacitated the pilot shortly after take off.

According to investigators, the flight path change was fed into the plane's computer 12 minutes before the final communication to Air Traffic Control. Yet the pilots communicated no distress or problems whatsoever to ATC. So this would lead one to believe that either the pilots were in on it, or perhaps doing the bidding of hijackers under duress. As far as hijacking goes, pilots have been trained post 9/11 to protect the integrity of the cockpit and not let their planes be converted into missiles, even if the lives of the crew and passengers are being threatened. Suppose the pilots decided to violate that policy and open the cockpit door to hijackers. They still should have been able to send a coded distress signal to ATC before doing so.

Some have suggested that the pilots encountered a mechanical/electrical failure or fire, and that whatever happened was quick enough that they did not have time to send out a distress signal. In that case you would expect to find wreckage in the South China Sea where it disappeared, but the plane was in the air for an additional 7 hours, and it's immediate diversion off the original flight path has it hitting three navigational waypoints in a row. The plane was being flown in a purposeful manner, which means if there had been a problem with the plane, the pilots would have been able to get out a distress call. And up to this point the 777 has a flawless safety record, and the plane disappeared at cruising altitude in between the hand-off between Malaysian and Vietnamese ATC. If you were going to divert the plane, the best time to do it would be over open water in between ATC hand-off, which is exactly where this plane dropped off radar. The most dangerous part of air travel is takeoffs and landings. Once you're in the air, cruising altitude is usually the safest part of the flight. I don't buy that something happened to the plane.

And if this were going to be some sort of suicide/kamikaze mission, you could just push the controls forward right after takeoff and get it over with. No time for the other pilot to react or even transmit and you're pretty much guaranteed to go down. There's no need to fool with flight path changes and disabling comms. And in the case of the Egypt Air pilot who intentionally took his plane down, it was discovered he had serious legal troubles at home and his life was falling apart. Nothing in the background of these pilots seems to suggest anything sinister. For the plane to have continued on for 7 hours and to be flown in the manner that it was, by somebody who knew how to program flight path changes, disable comms and navigate commercial air corridors and navigational waypoints, that would suggest either one or both of the pilots or another pilot on board that commandeered the cockpit. And what are the odds that you would have TWO mentally unbalanced pilots in the cockpit together, or TWO pilots on the take carrying out some sort of mission? For it to continue on for 7 hours and to be flown in an expert manner, that would tell me that either one of the pilots managed to neutralize/incapacitate the other, or...

Could the plane's flight controls have been hacked? When the pilots last communicated, they may have been unaware of any problems or that their plane had been compromised, thus explaining no mayday call or distress signal. And then the pilots were unable to regain control over the plane, unable to communicate with any ATC, and whoever hacked the plane programmed its path over the ocean and its eventual fall from the sky when it ran out of fuel. The plane would have hit the water largely in one piece and thus sunk to the ocean floor. And the intentional turn off of transponders and ACARS would mean by the time the authorities realized there was no wreckage in the South China Sea, the plane would be on the bottom of the Indian Ocean, where the emergency locator beacon's signal can't get out.

We are a technologically advanced enough civilization that Stuxnet can be used to neutralize centrifuge processing at an Iranian Nuclear Power Plant. Could we not also use technology to bring down a plane? Stuxnet is believed to have been smuggled into the Iranian nuclear plant via flash drive. I wonder if somebody had both electronic and physical access to the plane or if that's possible. Program it so that something goes wrong and causes the plane to depressurize, knocking everybody on board unconscious, including the pilots, and then the autopilot follows the course change programmed into it. And the general ballpark area of where the plane likely went down is over open ocean in the Deep Indian Ocean, where weather this time of the year makes recon missions extremely difficult. Difficult to reach because of the fuel needed to get there, difficult to observe anything because of the weather. If you wanted to crash a plane and make if difficult if not impossible to find it, this would be the place to do it.

The failure was electronic rather than mechanical imho. Some terrorist aboard attacked the plane's electronic system using the computer virus stored in his (or her) iphone, which paralyzed the plane's navigation as well as communication systems and caused it to "vanish", and to fly hundreds of miles off its intended route before diving into the Indian Ocean.

And yes, I'm pretty good at math which's well testified by my math score (139 out of 150) in the chinese college entrance exams, which you didn't have the guts nor the brain to even participate in, tbh.

You're kidding right? That's the Malaysian airlines flight that made big news when it originally got shot down in June or July (can't remember) of 2014, has nothing to do with the disappeared Malaysian airlines flight.
