View Full Version : NBA: Andrew Wiggins is gonna be a star

They might not win today against WVU.. but he is the sole reason they even had a chance at the end.. His stat line with 20 secs left: 41 points, 8 rebs, 2 assists, 5 steals, 4 blocks with Embild (or however you spell his name) not playing
If anyone takes Parker or Embild first they are making a huge mistake

HE will get the chance to change that narrative with his play inthe big 12 and NCAA tournaments.
I still have my doubts on him, but I still say you pick him or Embid first since they have the most trade value.
Kid will be a star but true Lebron/Durant superstar?! Doubtful.
He is more Paul George.

Him or Embid is going to look great playing next to God. Once the Lakers get their top pick and with God's resurgence the league better watch out. High chance the Lakers win the title next year in 2015.

I think Exum will be a better pro. Here he is balling against the likes of Jabari Parker, Randle, etc.:
HAdbE72z2VE
He has elite size for a PG (6'6") and has the frame to pack on a few pounds to also be able to play SG. Later in his career he'll even be able play SF as well.
He graduated from High School in November and has been working on his game with Kobe's trainer - not to mention he signed with Kobe's agent. He's also rumored to have been seen court side at Laker games.
We've gone all in on the tank mode. I'm hoping we go no better than 3-16 the rest of the way to virtually cement our chances of having a top 3 pick. This kid will not go any worse than #4 overall. Hopefully he pulls a Kobe and tells teams he'll only play for the Lakers. :)

You know this kid is shooting sub 40% near the rim right? He literally has no finishing skills. Once in a blue moon, he plays a good game, and his supporters blow his performance out of proportion. Wiggins was getting touch fouls today. Even on Durant's best days, he doesn't get as many weak calls as Wiggins got last night.
Just read this to see how badly has been playing this year. Only morons like Wiggins and his school hype.

Don't be ridiculous. That's called a "superstar treatment" and I hate to break it to you bro, but that's pretty much how your shooting guard became a "superstar".
That's a part of the game now. LeBron, Durant, Harden, Westbrook all get them. If he can translate it in the NBA, he will become successful before you know it.
He's not like LeBron.. he's not going to come out immediately and go for 20-7-5. But in three years we literally could be seeing a top five player in him.

Yeah, James Harden could literally become Michael Jordan in 3 years.
Oh wait, that is never going to happen. Non-existent skills can't become elite ones.

I can guarantee Wiggins will become a superstar if he ends up with the Lakers because he will be tutored by God on how to win. With God by his side Wiggins will become unstoppable but if he plays with another team he will be just an above average player and nothing more.

Wiggins has no offensive skills in the sense that his skills are non-existent compared to generational talents gets picked top 3. Don't kid yourself. You obviously don't follow college basketball if you think he does.
Wiggins is merely athletic and elite defensive potential.

His jumpshot is about as consistent as LeBron's was going out of St. Mary's give or take. Players develop. Potential is also a concept you must put into the factor. Not just his skills now.

Yeah, LeBron could play PG in the NBA. Wiggins can't dribble the ball without turning it over. Inconsistent jumpshot, inability to finish, has weak handles. What does he do well again? Jump high, run fast?
We got Gerald Green for that.

And what was MJ as a freshman? Pure athletic talent with average shooting skills, just like Wiggins right now. It doesn't mean Wiggins will be another MJ, but he has the physical tools to be the best SG in the league. He can draw fouls & finish fast breaks easily, great defensive fundamentals, quick feet, decent rebounding ability, he can shoot the 3 at an average clip as well. MJ didn't have elite shooting ability as a freshman and averaged 2 apg in his 101 college games, if you purely looked at his stats you wouldn't see some kind of GOAT potential, just a very athletic wing with medicore shooting ability, though he did shoot 44% from 3 on 2 attempts one year. But if you look at his game most of his buckets were dunks & layups, he would just catch the ball & drive, you didn't see the elite playmaking that he had in the NBA.
The only reason people are down on Wiggins is because he didn't live up to the media's hype in terms of being some outworldly talent that would destroy everyone right off the bat.
The shooting form is there, from the looks of it he will be a decent shooter, the athletic tools are obviously there, the defense is there, the finishing ability is there, he just needs to work on his ballhandling & perfect his shot & he will easily be an elite SG/SF.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuMHNesNPQU
His form looks like a hybrid of Steve Blake/Jodie Meeks, can't see why he wouldn't be a good enough shooter in the pros when he perfects his form.
Saw this game. Kid is raw, and already getting tons of whistles.

Mostly right, except the finishing ability is not there. He is finishing ~40% on the year, extremely alarming and mediocre.
Everything you mentioned boiled down to potential (ie skills that do not exist today, but might come later)? Why the double standards? Why not LaVine or Gordon? Gordon is arguably more athletic than Wiggins and more elite defensively.

Andrew is raw but if the Lakers pick him he will be a superstar on the same level as Durant or Lebron. The reason for this is because he will have God teaching and training him on how to be a great player. Under God's tutelage Wiggins will be unstoppable.

It's not even being a "beta" or lacking "drive," Wiggins just doesn't have the handles and playmaking skills to take over games the way he was expected to, and he sucks against zone defenses.... when his jump shot isn't falling, he becomes very limited in the half court....
Wiggins is very flawed and a loooong way off from being "the next LeBron," he'll most likely never even come close :lol

He has been on a tear lately. Last 5 games: 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 dimes a game shooting 50/56/93 from the field.
January stats: 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assist, 2 steals per game shooting 49/36/87 from the field

best part about Wiggins is that he goes 100% on both ends, which isn't a common trait among young players. he's developing much quicker than anybody really expected offensively. good thing for the league. its never a bad thing to have more emerging stars. could you imagine having Wiggins and Kawhi on the wing together :lol

Still needs to work on his shot selection. Too many long twos. Either go three or drive to the basket more. He's too quick to be checked effectively by one guy so he will be trapped a lot. The next step is working on his vision and passing.
I was literally the only person on the board who said it was a terrible trade. Why would you put a slow big who is terrible defensively on a team with kyrie irving and Lebron James? Those guys should be getting out and pushing the ball sometimes in transition, and need a defensive anchor since neither are post players. Kevin love absolutely doesn't fit those criteria. At least rigging would play D and get out on the break with those two.
