How so? Are you saying Pau Gasol was the savior(even though Buss Sr. and West/Wallace in Memphis got that deal done) and carried Kobrick? But I digress....I hope Buss Jr. stays owner of the Lakers for many future generations. How can any anti-Laker fan hope for anything different.

Not surprised Meeks can go off for 42 in a game. I mean, MVPau just makes life so much easier for perimeter players.

Look at it this year, even Nick Young averaged about 17 ppg, and his per 36 is almost 2 points more than his previous career high.

And Meeks? He's averaging over 15 ppg, while his previous career high was a little over 10 ppg, and his per 36 is almost 3 points over his previous career high.

Then there's Kent Bazemore, averaging almost 15 ppg since joining the Lakers when he was averaging 2.3 ppg with the warriors, in the same year!

MVPau has made life so much easier for his perimeter teammates, just the ultimate teammate for them. If you are a perimeter player and want to get a good contract, sign a one year deal playing next to MVPau, stack up great stats, then sign for an inflated deal and be set for the rest of your career.

LOL, that shows your supreme idiocy. Kobe was clearly a better player from 2005 to 2007. All statistics and casual observation shows as much.

Ignoring the change in the entire frontline and attributing the change in the Lakers from first round fodder (or non-playoff team) to a championship team to Kobe being better was just absolute stupidity.

What kind of logic is this? If he was shooting more, passing less, and trying to do it on his own makes him better? I mean who was he going to pass to? Kwame? Smush? Cook? Stop amb. Gasol comes to la and becomes an all star, and kobe gets no credit? Are you telling me that the kobe who shot more, passed less and got eliminated from the playoffs twice , let's not forget that suns series... Is better than the kobe who passed more, trusted his teammates and won?

You know I can't ban Kool, that's why you are pulling that condition. Besides, this place rarely, if ever, ban anybody. But once DPG put out the conditions, you are too chickenshit to take up the challenge.

Don't be obtuse. "You" tried to ban Kool & myself. We settled your hash by tacking me to the Tree of Woe and daring the House of Ellis to drive the nails. Mistress of the House wisely & demurely declined.

Nice try though. Next time?.....There'd just better not be a next time.

& I ain't fuckin' around.

What a horrible thread. This place bemoans Kool, but counters with this shining example of hoops talk.

If Kobe was who cares?
Meeks scored 4o points for a bottom feeder.
Kobe not even playing for said bottom feeder.

Thread worthy?

Seems to me that he just speaks the truth about MVPau, and Kirbystan wants to dismiss it as "mire and muck" :downspin:

Amazing how it's "in for penny" when it's time to spam The Count or 6, but it's "nary a cent" when Capri loses a bet :lol

Once again, treating like Caron Butler and Lamar Odom never existed.

Kobe had teammates, not great teammates, but enough support to get a supposed top 10 player of all time to the playoffs, and now you are trying to say that Smush, Cook and Kwame were his only teammates? Please, just stop.

And since when is passing more and shooting less the sign of greatness? If that is the case, John Stockton is better than any player who ever played. I would like to have Muggsy Bogues on your all time team over Jordan, because Bogues "shot less and passed more".

If anything, that Suns series, in that game in particular where Kobe refused to shoot, showed the true character of Kobe, and whether he really valued winning over everything.

Since when did I try to ban anyone? I don't have the authority nor do I have the desire. I voted ban Kool just to show that he was even LESS funny and brings in even LESS points than you do, which is a pretty hard thing to do to begin with.

Hey, I am trying to extoll the values of MVPau, an important cog of two Laker championship, and then these supposed "Laker fans" come in try to undermine the importance of such a fantastic player. It's akin to someone coming in and saying Magic/Kareem/Worthy had no effect on the success of the 80s Lakers.

Of course I know what I am doing - telling the truth. And yet kobestans can't handle the truth. Merely singing the praises for a laker player apparently is slinging feces. I don't even know what to say. You know what? My favourite non spur player of all time is Magic, I suppose I am flinging feces just for satin that.

It's pretty obvious I have no regrets with regards to the topic at hand.

But regardless, we should be celebrating the success of Meeks, but you and your kind are turning this into a Kobe thread.

So sad.

Great point. That's why I tried to steer the conversation away from Kobe, and have it focus on Meeks and MVPau in general. Just two great Lakers in an otherwise miserable season.

True.

Meeks is definately getting more than the min.

Lakers pay up the big bucks, it it eats into that cap.
