Usually every weekend in Mex once water temps get up. This years been different as we've been catching yellowtail all though the winter as well. Upcoming season should be a good one.

Take a kayak.

Iv'e been kayaking at the coast since the 90's. I was fly fishing back in Lighthouse Lakes before it was called Lighthouse Lakes and I had the whole place to myself. I've got two Wilderness Systems Rides...

Lots of idiots with kayaks now. Not saying you are one of them, but almost all the kayak accessible spots are fucked up now by dummies that don't know what they are doing and are just driving through and scaring the fish off.

I pretty much quit kayak fishing after they started selling them at Academy.

Its the idiots in the shallow running boats that try to scare up redfish, the people just milling about in kayaks don't scare near as many fish. Light house lakes is the playground for the new kayakers, it's great for a paddle. But to fish, the parts of Brown and Root the shallow boats can't get to. Oysters and islands keep em out. Rationing by inconvenience for the kayaking. Put the kayaks in the boat and go to lakes on the backside of St Joes. Full of fish, no one, around.

Peace out to all who fish.

I've done OK at Brown and Root but not great. Lighthouse Lakes used to be really good for sight casting to redfish before it got so crowded. My favorite place to launch is down by the old navy channel and either go out on the other side of the spoil islands or cut back into the redfish cove area. Also like launching at Bird Island and jumping across to the King Ranch shoreline.

There are some great spots in Brown and Root, they are just very tough to fish and require a long paddle, but you won't see anyone.

Are you talking Ingleside when you say old Navy channel? I have fished by the big old abandoned demagnetizer for the mine sweepers?

Yeah, Ingleside. I launch at the end of the road by the oil rig construction yard with the big crane.

I like that place. It's full of mangrove snapper in August. I've caught all kinds of stuff over there.
I launch from where the boats do. I will have to google earth yours, sounds closer.

Yeah, that's fun. I've caught several stripes in Cabo. We were going for blues this trip but no luck. One of those "should have been here last week" trips...Did pick up a quad of big 30-40# Mahi's though...that was pretty exciting...it was assholes and elbows there for awhile trying to get them all landed.

At least I can post pictures of the things I do with other men, unlike you.
