View Full Version : Why have we not signed Lamar Odom to our last roster spot?

Yes, I know he's sucked and been a team cancer for the last two years. And I may have answered my own question. He's 34, shouldn't be washed up at that age. And he's a stretch 4. Yeah he may just keep the bench warm a la McGrady, but seems we couldn't do much better with the last roster spot, and there's a chance he could help, albeit a small one.

Same reason why every other team hasn't signed him.

Those are the only ones we can sign. You were expecting Danny Granger or Caron Butler?

I still think that their are better options without any of the potential drama. If a forced to chose between signing him or Captain, I would still pick captain over him.

Nah I prefer Daye, actually.

Besides.. isn't Odom overseas? Color me crazy but I believe those types of foreign contracts still hold importance when discussing a comeback to the NBA. And oh yeah, Odom sucks.

We have an extra roster spot even after Daye. Odom is in Spain trying to launch a comeback. If he shows promise in the next month, he'll be on the Heat roster. You gotta sign them before other contenders want them.

Lamar Odom is literally addicted to crack and has been fat for years. Are you serious scro? Let's pick one of the hundreds of NBA prospects who isn't addicted to crack.

Lamar Odom Has Poor Debut For Spanish Club Baskonia

Odom played just six minutes to finish the first half, grabbing two rebounds while committing three fouls.
The 34-year-old power forward showed a lack of match fitness and touch after 10 months out of the game as he also missed a three-point shot attempt.
Odom did not return in the second half of the Euroleague game as coach Sergio Scariolo said Odom’s body was dealing with the aches and pains of a long layaway.
“That’s normal at his age after being 10 months out of the game. But he’s left a good impression,” Scariolo said. “They are typical muscle problems so we just want to be cautious. We’ll see how he is tomorrow.”

Odom's back is injured and he is out at least 2 months after scoring 2 points and eating 93 blow pops, 44 bags of skittles, 71 Nutrageous, and a Sprite in 23 minutes of playing time.

Phil Jackson looking into Odom. Probably not as dumb an idea as some people here think. The original point was that he is damaged goods, but at 34 and his skill set, he might be redeemable if he isn't too damaged mentally. I don't know if that is the case, but if you wait until he recovers and is easily recognizable to others as being worth signing, then you won't get him. It's a risk, but a small one, and if it doesn't turn out, no big deal, but if it does, then there is a potentially high reward. As we've seen on the Spurs, some players can play well beyond 34. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/10769490/phil-jackson-new-york-knicks-mull-adding-lamar-odom
