Didn't see a thread on this, so my bad if there's one already. Mods feel free to lock up.

Any word on Danny? Saw he went to the back and didn't return.

Mid foot sprain. Apparently giving him some trouble before the game even tipped off. Probably isn't a bit deal but I'm sure he will sit out a couple games.

Hopefully he'll be back by the time we play Indiana (next Monday). That's when things really get tough. He should rest as long as he needs though to ensure he's fine come playoffs.

Couldn't have been too serious considering he hit the three before the half. Probably a little sore during halftime and Pop decided not to take any chances. Hopefully he'll back against Indy

Mid foot sprains are a big concern in the nfl because they often end up being the dreaded linsfranc sprain. I don't think it's nearly as common a basketball injury so I'm not too concerned considering he knew about it pregame and still played an played well

Like Timmy did years ago. DG is no Timmy but several players play through plantar fasciitis. It's something you deal with. As a long-distance runner, I've had it a couple times and dealt with it just fine. Now we're talking about a millionaire with better resources dealing with it. He'll be fine.

It's something many athletes deal with and with proper treatment, he should be able to play through it and still do the same things to his ability. If he were an explosive player, then yes, it would be concerning but it shouldn't affect his game.

TVI
03-26-2014, 10:52 PM
Plantar fasciitis was often used as the go to "injury" that teams would list to keep 15 guys on the active roster, back when you could only carry 12 active players.

Hope it's nothing serious. Danny's been important to the team lately.

Who gets the start on Friday?

Chinook
03-26-2014, 11:00 PM
I'd start Joseph if Green can't go against Denver. Keeps the bench together and allows someone to defend Foye.

I'm concerned with PF. Green needs his athleticism to defend at a high level. Kawhi is going to have his work cut out for him.

May be nothing, may be big. Depends on what this shows. I think Pop's "plantar fasciatis (sp)" was offhand, not a diagnosis. He said "all of a sudden he couldn't walk" Could be a foot strain, bone bruise, break. We'll have to wait a see.

"He can't dribble" or "he's a one-trick pony"

to "we need him if we have any chance of making it back to the finals." I never bought that one-trick pony stuff anyways because he can play (great) defense against guards - we need him against Curry, Paul and maybe Harden - and he can make the three pointer. That's already two tricks, and he showed improvement in going to the basket and finishing as well as in the pick and roll game, especially with Tiago Splitter. Danny Green is more of a two-way player than most players ín the NBA ...

When TD had trouble with plantar faciatis he was missing two foot shots. I thought his career was finished. Playing with it can be done, depending on the pain tolerance of the individual, but as anyone who's had it will tell you, the pain is a bitch and sometimes you literally can't walk on it.

After sitting against Philadelphia, Danny Green came out with more energy against Denver than I have ever seen him have!!! I mean, wow! Dude was on fire, what did he drink a 2-liter Pepsi and a Jethro bowl of Skittles (Lamar Odom's standard breakfast) before the game?!? I too would like for him to maybe sit a game or two, or is this the kind of injury that doesn't benefit from that? Might be more sore if he doesn't constantly work it? MY wife has plantar fasciitis.

SAN ANTONIO — An MRI taken on Danny Green’s sore right foot came back clear this morning, and the Spurs’ starting shooting guard message expects to fly with the team to Denver later this afternoon.Green confirmed the news via text message to the Express-News.

The Spurs face the Nuggets on Friday night at the Pepsi Center, two nights after holding on for a 108-103 victory over Denver in San Antonio.

Green started hot in that game, hitting five 3-pointers in the first half for 16 points, but couldn’t finish due to what the team called a mid-right foot strain. Green said he first began feeling pain in the foot Saturday at Golden State, and nearly did not take the floor at all against Denver.

Though the 26-year-old Green will travel on the one-game trip to Denver, his availability will be left in the hands of coach Gregg Popovich. The Spurs did not schedule a practice today, meaning Green’s next chance to test the foot will come at shootaround Friday morning in Denver.

Green's a workhorse. Pop rarely rests him if he can go. But with the B2B coming up, may sit Green one of the games. I'd rather sit him for Denver, as they don't have many perimeter threats outside of Lawson. NO has Gordon and Evans.

I've had it on two occasions and I'm a long-distance runner and I still kept running. With proper treatment, it went away. In DG's and TD's case, we're talking about millionaire pro-athletes with better resources to get better treatment than I had so...DG will be fine.

Only idiots or total newbies thought DG was a one trick pony anywhere in the last 2 years.

His elite (not shut down, but elite), and versatile defense, and elite and clutch 3 point shooting, in regular season, playoffs, finals, make him maybe the best role player on the Spurs, as well as the NBA.

Contenders would be frothing at the mouth to have Green.

Can you imagine him signing with OKC after this season, killing it from 3, and locking up old, slow, beat up, broke J having Parker?

OKC would murder the Spurs with just that one role player defecting.

The Spurs are elite, they are hungry, they are title favorites, but if they lose anyone in/for the playoffs, including key role players like DG, Kawi, or Splitter, then the Spurs are done.

I've been on the Green bandwagon since he began starting a couple of seasons ago. I've defended him plenty of times. Still quite a few (not all, if that's the problem you had) thought Green was overrated. Now that he has an injury scare, there are four pages of get well posts After the Finals many on ST posted about how they hoped he'd take to the gym to improve his dribbling. Hater actually started a thread about whether a team has won a title, without a guard that can't dribble.

Even if Danny made the trip and is listed day-to-day, Pop won't play him for at least for a week or maybe more just to be safe.

When Green hits those 3s, it's amazing! Love his stance much better than Mills' and Marco's.

Mills moves backward and Marco moves forward a bit. But Green's 3s is the best looking one (my opinion).

Green's 25 threes from getting 500 in a Spurs' uniform. I believe he's only 89 from passing up Elliott. That's including the playoffs, though. Add 76 to the numbers for regular-season totals.

Green is a 3 and D guy, who can barely dribble(I think he's improved a little). He's an important piece for the Spurs, but to say he's anything more is a reach.
