7-3. This should be just good enough to get the top seed, esp. given that Ok should beat us at home with the LOOONG layoff and our b2b. In addition, I predict we match our franchise 17 game win streak by beating NO in San Antonio, but lose the away game to Indiana. The Pacers should get up for that game, and the spurs cant play perfectly forever.
1 NO W
Although NO is playing well, they are missing players and this one is at home. I would not be surprised with a loss, but the Spurs are playing too well to lose to this team.
2 @ Indiana L
Explanation stated above.
3 GS W
We own these guys and we are at home. This is the game the Spurs will try hard to win out of the b2b.
4 @ Ok L
They have 4 days rest and we are away on a b2b. Thanks anyway.
5 Mem W
They are 8-2 and dangerous, but we are at home and, given their dearth of fire power, this should not be too close.
6 @ Min W
Team to respect but they are 5-5 and have no edge now that the playoffs are out of reach.
7 @ Dal W
8 phx W
Not a bad opponent but they don't have the bigs to keep up.
9 @ Hou L
This just makes sense. Away game against a bad matchup. OTOH, they are missing their defensive-minded, starting pg. We will see how they have adjusted to having Lin play a bigger role.
10 Lakers W
They might not even show up.

I think we have to go 6-4 at the worst if we want the #1 seed. 7-3 or better would be preferable.

9-1 with the obligatory hack job at oklahoma on a b2b.

Don't sleep on Memphis, Dallas or Phoenix... they're playing for their playoffs lives, and they'll bring it. Hate playing teams like that at this point in the season... but c'est la vie...

Spurs should just relax in the games against Dallas & Phoenix ...giving either of them a chance to snag the No 8 spot. While they could try to score vanity wins against OKC, HOU and IND. Rest of the games, Pop should and would rest up as much as possible. I will be satisfied with 6-4.. but it will most likely be 7-3.

With both OKC and San Antonio having played 72 games and with one head to head meeting (assuming the Spurs lose that game) If the Spurs finish 7-3 then OKC would have to go 10-0 to finish #1.

nope... but I'm not sold Pop going all out on that next game, with the playoffs around the corner and the tiebreaker already decided... that's a game they can drop...

7-3 =62-20
8-2= 63-19 (ties franchise record from 06-07 season)
You must have looked at their record before the record updated, or your basic math slipped...
Spurs current record is 56-16. 56+7=63.

True.. I guess I've seen this movie before where one of us says spurs won't win and then San an smokes em. I mean, my logic for my faith in the okc game comes from an irrational hunch haha

I can absolutely see the Spurs beating OK, in OK, on the second half of a b2b and after playing 4 games in 5 nights. I just doubt it.
If we DO, then the spurs probably start getting seriously more rest. OK is not catching the Spurs for 1st if we beat them.
Just to make the math clear, if we played OK next game and won, the Spurs record would be 57-16 and OK would have 53-20.
With 9 games left, they only catch us at that point if we go 5-4, giving us a 62 and 20 record, and they run the table. That is simply not going to happen.

We won 63 in 05-06 season not the 06-07 season. I think we won 59 games then? 63 our most and we lost to Dallas that year I believe. 62 Wins we lost to Houston, I would settle for 61 wins and #1 seed and a title!

You're right it was 05-06.
in 06-07 we went 58-24 and won the title.
I looked back and saw that season, The Spurs had six 5+ game win streaks (including a streak of 7 and 11 wins)
this season the Spurs have won 6 straight, 11 straight and 16 straight.

I just hope this season does not turn out to be a HIGH win season and then ending in failure as the other two 63 and 62 wins seasons did for the Spurs! Those left a bitter taste in my mouth! 011 team winning 61 did not as I believed they were a fluke team and relied on 3's to win games and little D! I never had faith in that team, the teams afterwards though I felt could win it all.

remember last year's Lakers, where they had a ridiculous FT advantage so they could make the playoffs. shit I'm hoping OKC doesn't get that, they already receive more of a hookup than anyone else. I gotta hope Silver isn't as obnoxious as Stern.

I don't think there's any way for anybody - including Silver - to be as obnoxious as Stern. How that guy's not in jail is beyond me. Among a million other transgressions, he makes a referee/point shaving scandal go away by crucifying one ref...and gets the entire league to buy into it. Who odes he think he's kidding? We all saw the 2002 LAkers/Kings series. We all saw the Fisher shot, which was allowed to count...then the rule was changed the following season. We all saw him hand-deliver Gasol to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, making an irrelevant Laker team instantly relevant. And as a final send-off, he nixes a Chris Paul trade to the Lakers (the ball dominating CP3 never would have fit with the ball dominating K. Bryant), and instead gets them Dwight Howard AND Steve Nash. Unfortunately for Stern, K. Bryant ran Howard out of town.
So we'll see what Silver cooks up for the Lakers. He'll probably get them Kevin Love, but we all know the Lakers are too far gone after signing Bryant to that ridiculous, franchise-killing deal.

7-3 imo. They lose @MethKC, @Dal, and drop a game at home to someone, prolly Memphis. If Davis plays tomorrow night and the Spurs sit everyone that'll be the home loss.

As long as Pop doesn't give games away by resting half the team, we should go 9-1 or 10-0......however, knowing Pop, he will rest 2-3 key players every other game, and we will still find a way to go 7-3.....thanks to our quality depth.
One positive, Daye, Baynes, and Joseph should be getting plenty of playing time for the remainder of the regular season, which can only help if they are called upon to participate in post season activities.

I predict that they will attempt to make history and will try to win out the reg. season. Pop will rest who is going to rest but it seems that everyone on the team, 2nd & 3rd stringers included, are playing with a purpose. Not sure what that can be but one could easily assume that if Timmy privately announced to his teammates this would be his last season, they would want him to go out on top in the regular season as well as the postseason.

I am sure they will try to win every game. But that does not mean we burn our starters every game from here on out at their regular season averages of minutes or above, regardless of whether OKC can catch us.
For OKC to catch us, we have to go 6-3 or worse, and OKC has to play near perfect.
If and when OKC can't catch them for 1st, the Spurs top 5-7 rotation players will not hit the floor for more than 15 minutes a game until the playoffs start.
You can't get hurt if you don't play, and the probability of getting hurt is obviously related to the amount of time you play, so why take chances?
Now, during the playoffs, will the rotation shorten? Yes. Will the Spurs play tim, manu, and tony more minutes than their season averages? Definitely (unless Tony continues to suck, which I hope is not the case).
