Pop has no interest in manipulating the East standings. He's obviously committed to locking up HCA throughout the playoffs, which the Spurs are on course to do. Miami will likely be East champion and the Spurs should be more concerned with having four out of a potential seven full games at home against any opponent, including OKC, the team that will be the largest hurdle to winning back to back West titles. In all honesty, the Spurs should try and win this one, because Indy is reeling and the Spurs could use a comfortable cushion heading into Thursday's game in Oklahoma.

so given that logic and the fact that we most likely will go 3-2 at worst in the next 5 games. I see spurs should still be able to keep home court throughout. In other words it would take a small collapse for Spurs to give up home court to the OKC Thunder. Hell, they could even get upset by some Eastern playoff team and the Miami-Indiana ECF everyone expected for the entire year could actually not happen. I'm not saying it's likely, but one has to concede there's a chance of someone upsetting them and they've really never looked weaker. They fucking lost to CLEVELAND a couple days ago, I mean jesus christ, this may still be the season but their play in almost every game but the one with Miami has been severely worrying.
If they can make it to the ECF, I think they lose to Miami either way, home advantage or not. Even that last home game with Miami where it's the most recent one where they showed any competitiveness or life, even in that one they let it get way closer than it should've been and almost choked. Not that I don't think it's possible that they can take Miami down in a seven game series, but it'd mean Hibbert and George having to return to the potential from the beginning of the season that they haven't been consistently showing. That's possible, maybe they're sleeping and will finally wake up for the playoffs, but personally I think the "coasting because it's the season" excuse is flimsy and shitty for everyone other than the current NBA champion and even then it's pretty flimsy.
