I was reading @quixem's timeline on twitter and read some interesting stats. I'm on my phone so I can't embed the tweets so quotes will have to do for now.

Sorry if a lot of you have seen these already, but I know not everyone is on twitter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

@quixem: Milestone alert: Tim Duncan is now 19th on the all-time scoring list, passing Patrick Ewing (24,815)

The Spurs won their 29th road game, tying the franchise-high set by the 1994-95 and 2005-06 teams

@quixem: Spurs finished a full month with a perfect record for the second time in franchise history

@quixem: Parker: "Pop said this morning was a playoff game, so I was like 'I'm going to play now.'"

@quixem: Parker on Diaw: "Boris was aggressive. We felt we had an advantage on Scola. They don't have to double them. He's got that big butt." :lol

@quixem: Parker on playing against George Hill: "It's always hard to play against your little brother. I love George, one of my favorite teammates."

@quixem: Parker on Kawhi: "Pop is really hard on him. He wants him to be like Bruce Bowen, and he's doing a great job. He's even better offensively."

@quixem: Pop: "We never set goals to win a division or x-number games. We just talk about being the best team we can be come playoff time."(Take notes, Pacers)

@quixem: Pop: "Tony set the tone for us with his aggressiveness offensively. He moved the ball, scored himself, created a lot of situations for us."

@quixem: Spurs have 33 double-digit victories. Franchise record: 40 by the 2000-01 and 2004-05 Spurs.

@quixem: If the Spurs finish 6-2, they'll set a new franchise record with 64 wins.

@quixem: Some perspective: Spurs have more double-digit victories (33) than 13 NBA teams have wins. :lol

@quixem: Over the last three seasons, the Spurs' winning percentage with Kawhi (.785) is higher than Miami's with LeBron (.739).

@quixem: For that matter, the Spurs' winning percentage with Kawhi (.785) is also higher than OKC's with Durant (.714) over the last three seasons.

jesseGladsaget: @quixem The Spurs are 115-27(.810%) with Kawhi in the line-up since RJ was traded.

No doubt! Also, I believe that the Spurs are 50-7 this season when Leonard is in the lineup!

Parker: "Pop said this morning was a playoff game, so I was like 'I'm going to play now.'"

I have mixed feelings about this quote. But truth be told, I don't want him going 100% against the Pelicans in February and March.

Yeah, he was injured on March 1st last season going hard to basket in a game v. the Kings.

Injuries can't be completely avoided unless he's inactive, but he can change his level of aggressiveness to minimize the chances for injury.

Here's a short excerpt from an IndyStar article. I know it's not from anyone on the Spurs or Pacers, but it's a nice analogy complementing the Spurs, and sadly digging at the Pacers.

"A word about the Spurs: They are beautiful to watch, and they will win the NBA title this time around. Offensively, they are a Matisse, a Picasso; the Pacers, who stand around a whole lot, are like a finger-painting. The lack of movement is excruciating."

This isn't just a winning streak. The Spurs are just crushing teams. Since the All Star break their average point differential must be astounding.

and yet we are only 3 games ahead of the Thunder and could end up playing WCF on the road

the winning streak just shows the shit state of the league. Making anything more out of it is silly

I think people are forgetting how dominant OKC looked before Westbrook went down this season. They were crushing teams with ease. Spurs/OKC is a toss up, that's if the Spurs make it out of the 2nd.

Why go 100% when the last 18 games have pretty much been decided by the end of the 1st quarter? He isn't trying to be lazy, he's just been playing the way the games have been dictated and fortunately, he's been given the luxury of keeping his foot off the gas and saving himself for the playoffs.

The Thunder might not make it out of the 2nd. The clippers are no joke and they'll be playing with a chip on their shoulder.

Yea seriously. I knew he'd be a pretty important piece and someday possibly the main piece on this team but I guess I didn't realize the subtle impact he really makes on the games. I guess that's kind of the defensive specialists calling card though.

K is a much better scorer and rebounder than Bruce ever was, a more significant contributor, and nearly as good a defender. He's still young, and humble.

Bruce is still way ahead on one-on-one defense. (Heck, since I started watching NBA in 1990s, I can't think of many players who are better than Bruce in that area.) But Kawhi is better in help defense, loose balls and rebounds. Of course, it's no comparison on offense.

But sometimes, being a historical defense specialist and 3-pointer only shooter may make Bruce a better puzzle of a championship team than Kawhi. Let's just hope Kawhi can help the Spurs conquer #5.

Kawhi reminds me of Scottie Pippen with his ability to disrupt the offense from the small forward position with those long arms.

Right. No team that's ever played with swagger because of doubters has ever done anything. Not the Mavs in 2011, or the Saints in 2010. Motivation doesn't exist and doesn't push athletes, right? Jordan never did SHIT when people pushed him.

Great stat re: winning % with Kawhi. If Pop let's Kawhi and Boris defend LeBron at the arc, maybe Kawhi has a better winning % than LeBron in the 2013 Finals.

Indy's 18-12 against the West and 35-11 against the East. I know it's fuzzy math but if you project those winning percentages over a full west schedule, they go from being a 58 win team to a 54 win team ... essentially in line with Portland. Pretty easy to crush teams when you're traveling a lot less miles and have three other good teams in your conference (four if you give Brooklyn the benefit of the doubt).

Indiana-17-12 (.586) vs West. If they were in the west, they would play 52 games in conference (a 30-22 mark, based on that percentage)

they would play 30 games against the East where they are 35-11 (.760). They would project to have a 23-7based on that percentage

53-29 which would place them 4th in the West

Your math is pretty darn close.

I guess jet lag keeps me from being able to do simple addition and subtraction. Either way, less impressive than Miami's 20-8 record against the West. Indy does give the Heat matchup problems with the bigs but I think Miami can turn it up a notch. George has been reeling since the new year and that has taken all air out of their offense. Funny how all the pundits were calling him the #3 guy in the league early on.
