Or the new Queen James.
Back in 2007, James White! was a deep bench player for the Spurs. During the playoff run that season, he was called on to simulate the best wing player on opposing teams during practices. That included LeBron for the Finals. During the Alamodome celebration, Bruce talked about White's role and said that he was nicknamed Queen James as a result.

As a Texas fan this is pretty exciting. Damion James had a ton of athleticism and potential as a Longhorn. Don't know what's happened to him in the NBA though. He was never a great shooter and sometimes he wouldn't give full effort. He was never really a polished all around player which was disappointing considering he looked like Lebron at times on the offensive and defensive end.
Hopefully he's refined his shooting game and can contribute. I'm sensing that were going to be resting a lot of starters soon and that he could see some minutes in the upcoming games.

Never knew that. Thanks for sharing. I guess simulating Lebron for Spurs Finals practice is something White! and McGrady have in common.

The Spurs have lost one game since adding Daye, and none sincw getting Kawhi back. Could we be looking at a negative loss total with James on board?

That Suns game was a one-in-a-million loss tbh. Spurs should be given it back.

Is that why he's played a grand total of 34 NBA games spread over 3 seasons, and none at all this year?

Danny Green could shoot when he got here, and DJ has never hit an NBA 3 pointer. They're the same age, BTW.

Not trying to imply that Damion James will ever play a role similar to Verde's. Just saying that if they keep digging in the rough long enough, they are eventually going to come across another diamond. That's what the Spurs do.

Going by Hollinger odds, James has a 40% chance to be the second 2007 Longhorn to get an NBA ring, joining Dexter Pittman. Two other 2007 Longhorns have an 8% chance combined.

Extremely doubtful. He was only on two 10 day contracts that coincided with the end of the season. They sent him home instead of keeping him with the team through the playoffs.

I wanted James on the roster so that Rick Who Could Not Get Into The Sweet 16 Even With Kevin Durant Barnes would see the second player from that team get an NBA ring. But alas, the Spurs didn't keep James.

Well, Wikipedia says he has won a championship.
On June 15, 2014, James won his first NBA championship after the Spurs defeated the Miami Heat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami_Heat) 4 games to 1 in the 2014 NBA Finals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NBA_Finals).
