View Full Version : If Steve Nash won MVP, why isn't Kawhi #1 MVP candidate?

.850 win percentage with him, .533 without him.

Length and athleticism are the only reason this team looks young and not old and has a chance against Miami and OKC.

#1 record in the league by at least 3-4 games by the time it's done.

Kawhi should win MVP. #3 in voting at least.

If you could only keep 1 of the following players for the playoffs, would you really keep Duncan or Parker over Kawhi?

Kawhi really only dominates on the defensive side of the ball in order to be a serious MVP candidate you have to be a two way player like Nash. :-) or at least have really gaudy numbers in the common stat categories.

OK Nash really only played offense but that makes numbers.

MVP needs offensive numbers ... Nash had the points and assists.

Kawhi homers are worse than Manu or Parker homers these days, tbh. :lol

This guy is more of a Center/point guard hater than a kawhi homer. Every single one of his posts is how the spurs would be better without duncan/parker or big centers and small pg's can't win.

I've always agreed with Barkley on Nash. He should never have won MVP and he should never have been thought of as an elite PG because he couldn't lead his team anywhere despite having boatloads of talent around him. I'm going to remember Nash as the worst defender at the PG position of all time. And I'm going to remember that Tony Parker and a bevy of other PG's destroyed him in the playoffs every year. And that he should have retired 5 years before his career ended.

But as for Kawhi being MVP...I'll agree that MVP should never be about stats. But still. You do have to be a 'go to guy' and right now, Kawhi just isn't one. He's still too timid and if the Spurs really needed a bucket they'd put the ball in Manu or Tony Parker's hands, not Kawhi's.

kawhi just won't get the level of consideration. mvp is for flashy players like durant and james.
