Some positives are that the Spurs defended Durant okay and that Leonard isn't a pussy who is afraid to shoot a shot that isn't wide open or a layup.

Holy shit, I hope this a joke thread. Don't sweat this loss, OKC isn't shit and the Spurs didn't quit. This game was just what Pop wanted to get a mental re-set. I hope we get the Thunder in the playoffs but I'm not sure they will make it. Tonight was a glorified practice.

if Kawhi guards Durant most of the game every game. I can guarantee you he will be in fould trouble at least 50% of the time.

David Stern controlling the Refs even after retirement.
Add another 40-50 minutes of the Big 3 plus Kawhi and not coming off a back to back in the playoffs, I put little into the result here.
Just gotta hold two game lead in loss column, which is helped by Thunder having B2B tomorrow in Houston, one at Clippers (I imagine Westbrook rests night before that game against Kings). Pacers game as well in.

yeah, but even today he held him to 28 points in 26 shots, and this is with 4 days of rest... this Thunder team is weak, tbh... huge difference when they had Harden off the bench...

we've known all along that OKC is our toughest matchup, even moreso than Miami. they have the same perimeter athleticism, but with a solid interior defense. I think it also hurt that we were on the 2nd of a b2b, 5th game in 8 days or something like that, and OKC was coming off 4 days rest and the game was in Methland. A lot of factors against us in this game, but the team showed in the 1st that they can still grind out points against this team.
The issue is, we aren't going to get our fancy pocket passes for layups against them. That's been their gameplan against us for a while. They challenge us to score 1 on 1, and play the pnr in a way to give us jump shots, which we're going to have to take/make. Even if we aren't scoring, we defend them pretty well. The issue is when we start committing turnovers and they start getting runouts... we ended the game with 18 turnovers. They're the toughest matchup, but it would be foolish to say "the spurs can't beat the thunder"

Sterns ghost loomed large this game. back to back 5th game in 7 nights thunder off for 3 day aside. The refs, first half in particular were as bad as you will ever see. Which lead to Kahwi not starting the 2nd half and what a surprise the thunder go on a run in the 3rd quarter. No Manu and Pop threw the towel in early. The non-calls become layups against this team while we can't even look at them without a whistle. The nba agenda is so transparent fuck those cocksucking son of a bitches.

inconsistency is the issue. we got hammered in the paint plenty, westbrook had some blatant reaches from behind parker, etc. the spurs were getting fouls called for the same crap on the other end.
although the officiating was already poor in the 1st half, we held a lead. we lost the game with turnovers

Well, when one team can hack and foul at will and not get whistled, then they will have a decisive advantage in the turnover department.

They let themselves get flustered by the swarming defense of OKC and TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS! They score 30 fucking points off turnovers and win by 12. Sure, you can't be perfect but even if they didn't go for those stupid little pocket passes in the heaviest traffic, they're in with a chance.

One of the issues is that some of our shooters (mostly Green and Beli) are so used to getting WIDE open shots that they kept passing on decent shots, forcing some other players to take horrible shots to beat the shot clock. Green and Beli need to grow a pair and shoot when they get a decent opportunity, because those WIDE open shots aren't coming against such a committed defense, not matter how many extra passes you make.
Mills let it fly and the difference was obvious.
The passing wasn't crisp last night. Spurs will have to string together 4 perfect games to beat Thunder in the playoffs.

Good eyes. On top of this, last night we got some horseshit calls (two no-calls on Ibaka fouling Timmy on layups close to halftime, Kawhi's touch foul on the screen, and the idiotic double technical on Timmy and Fatty Perkins), and Beli couldn't hit the side of a barn.

Not going to blame the officials here.
Beli couldn't convert because he was covered.
Patty Mills because of his size is alway used to being covered, so he scored by finding his shot.
Green was also tentative, he should know that in this type of a game, he's shouldn't expect wide open shots.
It is a good thing they lost. Regular season wide open shots are not going to be there in a playoff game.

The Spurs are clearly scared of OKC. They get stagefright every time the two teams meet. They start uncharacteristically throwing the ball away and turning the ball over, they start missing easy chips at the rim, and missing wide open jumpers that they normally hit in their sleep.. they clearly get over excited and rattled. They scramble around and just can't seem to execute. They are clearly intimidated. Parker seems to be the most rattled of the Spurs, and he's our engine, he's our quarterback.... The Spurs do not appear confident when they play OKC. They seem very tentative.

if the refs do what they did yesterday, does not help the team to change their style of play, at the time of balance, the Spurs will be removed from the game. Yesterday was only five minutes full assaulto (like game 6), and voila, the game got out of control.

refs are always gonna be bad, just gotta take that into account, spurs pulled the foot off the gas, or probably just ran out of gas, but look at the first half, that's prob how a playoff game would be against okc, plus manu, and a bit more effort and taking it serious.

It's a sobering loss but a needed one, Spurs need to realize the intensity and officiating that will occur at OKC.

It's unfair that we should have to not only worry about the opposing team, but also the refs. Life isn't fair, though. I still believe we can beat them in a 7 game series, with or without home court. As long as we win our games at home, I think we can steal a game in OKC.
