We no longer need to worry about OKC catching up and getting the 1st seed. Now, our sole focus (aside from staying healthy obviously) should be on whether the Clippers can manage to sneak into the 2nd seed. They're 1 game behind OKC right now. OKC and LAC play on Wednesday. OKC will be on the road and on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, while the Clippers will be coming off 3 days of rest. If the Clippers win that game, they'll be tied with OKC in the standings but they'll own the tiebreaker.

Spurs should go all out to win their next two games against Minnesota and Dallas. Then, rest the starters til the playoffs and throw the game against Phoenix. It would be much better for OKC to face Phoenix in the first round than Dallas, and Dallas just can't match the Spurs so that should be a sweep for the Spurs.

The way I see it we'll really struggle to get past OKC if we meet in the WCF, but they are far more likely than us to get knocked out before then.

I'm hoping the Suns take out OKC just for comedy reasons. It would be hilarious for Durant to get the MVP and then go out in the first round like Dirk did in '07.

The Spurs are staring down a potential West Semis matchup with Houston and the Rockets have not been a fun opponent this season.

That's true, but having watched a few Houston games I'm strangely confident. I just have a feeling Pop will be able to game plan against them.

I've done a complete 180 tbh, I used to feel confident against the Clippers and fear the Rockets, but the way LA has been playing lately I'm glad the Thunder has to play them in the second round (and if they lose Wednesday, possibly without home court)

You better hope the Spurs don't face OK City since they can't seem to beat them this year. You better hope the Spurs get the easiest path possible because we all know they are not really all that good in the playoffs as compared to the regular season that they can take on anyone and win.

Some people on this board really confuse me. I get that not all fans are the same; some are overly optimistic even when things look bleak, and others are overly pessimistic even when things look great. But some people on this board almost sound like they want the Spurs to fail. It honestly sounds like they're hoping the Spurs fall short so they can say "See! I told you I was right!"

Maybe they're just trolling. Maybe they're just setting the bar low so they won't be disappointed regardless of what happens. All I know is that it's pretty amazing that some fans could be so unenthused with a team that looks so promising. And anyone who watched the Spurs in 2011 and this year should realize this team is completely different. Compare the roster from 2011 with this year's roster and it's not hard to see the improvement. Hell, look no further than the fact that we're not giving Bonner serious minutes anymore.

I'm not guaranteeing #5 or anything, but shit, this team looks better than any team we've had since 2007. I think we have just as good of a shot as anyone to make it out of the West and stop Miami from 3-peating. All we have to do now is hope for everyone to stay healthy and show up come playoff time.

Our defense is not good and our offense stalls when our ball movement isn't on point. We could very easily lose in the 2nd round. Our lack of iso talent really shows in the half court. We have almost no one who can at least draw fouls consistently. Let's hope Kawhi can bring the goods in the playoffs.

Ranked that high, it's as close to great as it's going to get with the type of offense we run.

I'm NOT saying this team is a reprise of the '99 Spurs or reminiscent of the Bowen-era defenses, but it's FAR from "not good."

Much closer to "great" than "not good," tbh. Come on now.

In some alternate universe, everything is exactly the same except the Spurs won the title last season. In that universe's Spurstalk, it's one constant slurpfest on the main board.

A quick check of betting sites shows the Spurs as a 3:2 or 8:5 favorite to win the West, and the second-most likely team to win the title (3:1 or 7:2) behind Miami (2:1). The pessimists here are either just trolls or are still feeling championship blue balls from last season.

What makes y'all think the Clippers, fresh off of an emotional series against the Thunder, and smelling blood in their first ever WCF, would be an easy out? And better yet, what makes y'all think the Rockets would be an easy out?

Mark my words, there will be no remotely easy path to the finals and to a championship. And true fans should appreciate the path and the challenge, regardless of the results.

I don't know if the Spurs can get out of the West, let alone go all the way. But OKC has to be the biggest challenge for the Spurs, and by far. So if Clippers knock them out, the Spurs would be in a better position, though not necessarily a >50% chance.
