Lebron was arguably fouled twice on that play and if it was Prime Kobe, Wade, Durant etc etc they'd get that call. They missed the goaltending too. Whatever. Another "Intriguing storyline" for ESPN.

That Chicago team was reliant on an Autistic PG and the Heat had just gotten together. The Nyets are stock full of vets that can score and play D (and absolutely hate the Heat) and the Heat are a bit fatigued. Champs prolly win but it's their worst matchup in the East unless the Pacers find themselves.

If the Heat play the Nets in the playoffs then they are going home early. As bad as Indiana has been I still see them taking out Miami. No way they go back to the finals.

:lol The Nets are just the latest cute regular-season East team that LeBron haters have bandwagoned onto since the Bulls, Celtics, and Pacers have failed....

When the Heat make the Finals again, the same people will start crying about the "weak East" even though they keep picking new teams to beat Miami every year :lol

Indiana will lose to Miami in 6 with the home advantage.

They don't have home advantage now so they'll lose in 5.

:lol pinning your hopes on faggots like Lance Stephenson and Paul catfish George

And Brooklyn? Oh please they're not gonna beat Miami in a 7-game series. You should kill yourself if you even think they have a chance.

Heat are just paper tiger they're going to be exposed again this year tbh. They were extremely lucky they encountered the naive thunder in 12 and that they had manu playing on their side through the crucial game 6 last year, but good luck won't knock on their door 3 years in a row imho.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts on why they wont win this year. A lot of people have been traumatized by The Great Satan that they now believe he's invincible and can't be beaten. I just laugh at these fools just watch playoff time when the Great Satan loses they will all come out nowhere and start saying they knew the Heat were going down from the beginning.

It we lose, we lose. All good things come to an end. But we've had the league shook since the summer of 2010.

That is not a foul. Read the NBA rule book. On a dunk or straight-a-ways layup, if a defender makes contact with both the hand and the ball, its considered a block, as the hand in that instant is considered part of the ball.

If he had hit him on the wrist, it would have been a foul. Go read your NBA rulebook and you will see the officials got the call right.

The word "layup" isn't even said once in the rules. "Dunk" is mentioned once referring to an alley oop with under .X seconds left. A "block" is never even defined or referred to outside of "block"ing fouls.

Tbh, the officials can literally do whatever they want at the end of a game regarding contact like that. It's how we're able to say "the officials would never call a ticky-tack foul like that at the end of the game" referring to Plumlee's offhand vs Lebron.

The quote is

e. Contact which occurs on the hand of the offensive player, while that hand is in contact with the ball, is legal. .

and is brought up again in the incidental contact section

The hand is considered “part of the ball” when it is in contact with the ball. Therefore, contact on that hand by a defender while it is in contact with the ball is not illegal.

You can tell they were just giving themselves leeway with that one. (esp by putting it under the "incidental contact" section.) That way they don't have to call a foul every single time someone's hand hits the other guy's when going for a steal. Or even so when a player hits the other player's hand and the ball goes out of bounds it isn't out on the ball handler & they don't have to issue a foul. This kind of leeway makes for an actually watchable game.

If you're going straight by the books, none of the qualifiers that you wrote should matter. You should be able to hit a guy's hand while he's shooting no matter what and have it be legal. We know that's not how it's actually called.

The NBA released an officiating memo regarding similar situations (but with jumpshooters, although they didn't say jumpshooter. Only shooter)

http://www.nba.com/media/Point_of_Contact_Jan_27_2014.pdf

Here are the guidelines we have reinforced with referees.

Before the shooter releases the ball, any contact to the shooter’s hand, wrist or
arm is illegal and a foul will be called.

& since there is no distinction between a dunk and a jumpshot in the rules this should also apply to dunks or layups. But these aren't actual rules, just guidelines--non specific ones at that. But they're also more current than the rules are.

...So basically any call the refs made on the floor could be the right one. It's not really clear cut in this case. Anything that's this close should be an okay call.
