How does winning the genetic lottery make you more capable of analyzing a sport that anybody can learn?..
Being tall and athletic doesn't equal intelligence:lol..

LaRue Martin was selected No. 1 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1972 NBA Draft. During his four years with Portland, Martin averaged just 4.4 points per game, the lowest of any former NBA No. 1 pick. He was benched after his second year with the team, soon becoming a role player with minimal impact on the game. Martin was eventually traded to the Seattle Supersonics, followed by an immediate retirement from the NBA.

I'd have to disagree. They wouldn't do well in the private sector outside of the NBA, however they have managed to maintain and improve themselves and parlay that to a lump sum that would allow them to retire after just a few years if they were conservative. Most aren't so it seems they are just stupid, but they hang with guys who are also rich, so it's all relative. Only Matt Bonner conserves his money, but then nigga cannot even get a shoe deal.

Spurs should have no problem beating them in 5 or maybe 6. No way a team that ranks 17 in defense would advance to the conference finals. The top teams in the west are at least in the top 12 in both categories.
(Offensive Rtg & Defensive Rtg)
Spurs 4th & 5th
Clippers 2nd & 7th
Thunder 7th & 5th
Houston 4th & 12th
last season 4 teams that made it to the conference finals were no worse than 7th (Miami)

We were a freethrow and rebound from beating the Heat last year and we got noticeably better since last year. I know the West has better teams this year but it's worth noting that we're a well-oiled machine with a chip on our shoulder.
Blazers are too green, the Rockets have Dwight Howard (enough reason to not advance to the Finals), and the Clippers and Warriors match up poorly against us. The only real threat to us is the Thunder tbh, and there's a chance we might not even play them. If we do, we've got a battle on our hands for sure. I'm already stressed out.

I don't have a problem with Chuck's opinion because...well, its just another opinion. But some of the things he said (Spurs don't want to play Memphis, those boys in the middle give the Spurs a hard time, they beat the Spurs 3 years ago in the 1st round, Spurs are 2-8 against top 3 teams etc.) are just terrible reasons to use. Ernie and crew were laughing and shaking their heads at his nonsense. Chuck was actually getting defensive because they were calling him out on his BS.
After Shaq and Kenny said the Spurs had the best record in the toughest conference and were therefore the best team, Chuck responded by saying "the regular season doesn't mean anything" and the guys followed with, "So why should we care what the Spurs regular season record against Houston and OKC is?) He looked pretty stupid and had no answers. Good TV. :lol

Their ability to generate money is directly related to more intelligent people(agents, marketer, lawyers, etc) benefiting by putting the players in positions to make their own money, though, which wouldn't be available if they didn't have the super-human genetics IMO..
The same could be said about others. If you are a chemist who works for Dow, your ability to generate money is directly related to more intelligent people who built a system that allows you to make money as a chemist. Certainly no one would need a heavy equipment operator if there wasn't heavy equipment.
I don't think their wealth is directly proportional to their intelligence, not even close, and there are some who get through that you wonder how they walk and chew gum at the same time without choking on it and falling, but on average, from HS on up, there's a lot of decisions made by them that have a direct effect on whether or not they ever play in the NBA.
Genetics affect more than just the physical size and ability of a person. It also affects their ability to rationalize. The same genetics that make them 7'2 and 300lbs makes them black and cross eyed. They have the luck of being born black and poor, probably being raised by a single parent which means being raised by their grandmother or their HS friend's family. Then there's those rich Jewish or white kids with the luck of being born into a wealthy family that can afford to send them to school. The lawyers and such who enable players to make money have some good fortune of their own in that regard. I just see it as people maximizing their earning potential. I think about that when I see a 7'2 dude walking around an airport pushing wheelchairs. You know he never played.

I didn't say NBA players don't have skills:lol..the majority are in the league because they're genetically gifted, though, which enhances their ability to use those skills at a higher level..
We all know niggas that can hoop, but don't possess the height/athleticism/quickness, etc..
Tim Duncan is 7-feet tall with the wingspan of a mutant, of course he's genetically gifted..
Isaiah Thomas is 5'10, but he has a 39 inch vertical and rare agility/speed..
Certainly there are some players that made it purely on skill, like Patty Mills, for instance, but that's rare..

My point is simply that being a pro athlete isn't the same as being a lawyer or an engineer or a doctor or possessing an expertise in a certain subject..
Any subject or profession requires years of studying and learning, which is how those people become "experts"..basketball is a subject that anybody can study if they dedicate enough time to it..being a pro basketball player doesn't make somebody an expert or more credible than the everyday nigga that took the time to thoroughly study the game, but wasn't gifted with the tools to become a pro player..
You don't have to understand the game to be an NBA player, as we see all the time:lol..
I find it comical that a nigga like Barkley, a man that has admitted he only watches 1-2 games a week, can be more credible than a person that watches and studies 15-20 games per week, simply because Charles was genetically gifted enough to make it to the pros:lol..
bottom line is that sir charles is lacking in the analysis department. he's there for entertainment value alone. there's a reason kenny is the only one that ever breaks down film.

Middle class, sure, but once they begin to look like they might be college material in basketball, they get the royal treatment. Why do you think Lebron was driving a Hummer with gold rims in HS? His mom was single and poor as fuck.
I'm sure there are middle class people who eventually join the NBA. I don't see how it pertains to the discussion though. If there are idiots who are genetically gifted, and if they owe their success to lawyers, then who do the lawyers owe their success to? Or are all lawyers hard workers who were raised poor and in single parent households? I know a few lawyers from childhood, and they were the wealthiest of the crowd then and now.
Chris Paul was genetically gifted but also a hard worker and no idiot. His brother Cliff though worked his way up through insurance seminars and became a big agent. They are twins. One isn't more gifted than the other, they just chose different ways to serve the white man.
I'm sure there are middle class people who eventually join the NBA. I don't see how it pertains to the discussion though.
They have the luck of being born black and poor, probably being raised by a single parent which means being raised by their grandmother or their HS friend's family. This is what I was referring too. What does being black and poor have to do with winning the genetic lottery. If both of your parents are tall, then you have a good chance of winning the genetic lottery. It has nothing to do with race or income. If anything, kids coming from wealthier families have a better chance at making the NBA.
Why do you think Lebron was driving a Hummer with gold rims in HS? His mom was single and poor as fuck. LeBron isn't your everyday NBA player. He was hyped up by the media, because they were desperate for another MJ.
Or are all lawyers hard workers who were raised poor and in single parent households?Huh? That's what I'm saying about NBA players.

Genetics don't just affect physical size and athleticism. They also affect mental and psychological growth. Then there's the genetic lottery where you were born wealthy. Let's be honest, it cannot be much easier for a poor person raised by a single mom to become a millionaire than for a rich person who was raised by both parents, who has a trust fund, who got college paid for, who attended a prep school, who was groomed into a upper management position by associates of dad or the grand father. We consider those people to be hard workers and intellectually gifted, but one lottery is just as lucky as the next, and without all that support, they might be just a drug addict (some become that anyhow).
LeBron isn't your everyday NBA player. He was hyped up by the media, because they were desperate for another MJ.
If you've ever gone to school with a guy who was highly recruited for college ball you'd know that they get treated differently by the teachers and by just about everyone else they know who knows they might be millionaires in the future. It's not just Lebron.
Huh? That's what I'm saying about NBA players.
Name some really dumb NBA players who were raised in middle class families.
:lol Maybe I'm misunderstanding you and we actually agree.
Probably and probably not.

Of course Charles is knowledgeable about basketball. However the most knowledgeable person in the world cannot analyze a specific team without watching more than a handful of games. Otherwise they fall back on trite, out of date information.
We see it all the time from fans. There are still fans who when they describe the Spurs are describing the Spurs of 2005. They have no idea that the Spurs are no longer the half court slow it down team that runs its offense through Duncan. It is only this season after last year's finals that many fans have caught up.
Charles is not as clueless as a lot of fans, but he often makes statements that do not fit the current team.

They stopped short of calling him an idiot but I wouldn't say they didn't call him out. They were all pretty much laughing at him.
Same old story from spurs fans
:cry someone doesn't love the spurs :cry the spurs don't get no respect:cry ...year after year after year after year after year...
Whatever dude, I was merely making an observation. But keep thinking you're cool and edgy because you're using the crying emoticon. Lol, what a rebel!

He's right. Parker's playing like shit. Manu is the same tired old shitbag he's always been. The only dependable people on our team are Duncan and Leonard.

Note to Sir Charles"
Spurs are 62-18 overall 38-12 against the Western Conf. 32-8 at home 30-10 on the road. 31-16 against team above .500 (BEST in the league) Also, just for fun, the Spurs are 31-7 on back to back games. Oh yes, they are 31-2 against teams under .500.
OLD SPURS ARE NOT DONE.

Which wouldn't have occurred if the 80s had today's media coverage, where Dad Killer could have never been marketed if the public knew how much of a piece of shit he is in real life:lol..
Bullshit people like backing winners help them forget their shitty lives and jordan delivered 6 times. Same reason nobody cares about hgh collusion

Chris Paul was genetically gifted but also a hard worker and no idiot. His brother Cliff though worked his way up through insurance seminars and became a big agent. They are twins. One isn't more gifted than the other, they just chose different ways to serve the white man.

90% of them would either be dead, in jail or working a minimum wage job without their genes, obviously..
"Most NBA players are stupid" is oversimplified generalization about those players.
Some former NBA players are smart coaches, executives and businessmen. Martin, Bill Bradley, Kevin Johnson, Jamal Mashburn, Larry, Doc, Phil, etc, but if we accept this assumption about stupidity as true, the problem runs deeper than that.
Sadly, education and college degrees could be the least valued in society. If we ask some children who they idolize or who are their role models, they'll answer with their favorite reality star, rappers, fashion model, etc. They won't answer about hard working people, or Nobel Prize winners.
The youth love those guys because they're the example of success in our communities. Make easy/quick money, luxury and ostentation, show have big money in every imaginable way.
It's human nature to look up to someone that you find inspirational, especially while at a young age, and many of us know teens who think it's okay to emulate the reality stars, emulate guys who use drugs and alcohol to escape life challenges.
Why the NBA players should be different from the rest of society?
Like many kids in these times, they have grow up without strong parent's presence, living in a society where make easy/quick money is the only goal, in a society in which selfishness -instead of solidarity- and consumerism are rife, etc.
I don't know, but as part of this society, it's not uncommon to blame others for our own mistakes.
