View Full Version : Did Duncan play 39 minutes so the hyperextended knee could stay warm?

That hyperextension he got in the 1st quarter looked nasty...glad he got to return and play, but for some reason, I kept getting flashbacks to April 11th, 2000 @ Sacramento when Duncan had a similar looking injury while slamming lefty over Scot Pollard. He left the game and returned immediately to play the rest of the game, only to get a diagnosis of a torn meniscus and did not return for the rest of the season. I hope this is not de ja vu.

He'd play through it at this point of career. Could be his last shot at the big dance.

Well that's a craptastic thought

Timmy will play one more game and then sit out the last 2.

I hope he will play the Rockets.

Timmy didn't have the Publisher in 2000, so that thought is fucking moot!

It should be the only game he plays.

Unless he is hurt, in which case the rest of our season is seven games. Sweep.

MPG/min v DAL

Timmy 29.2/39.17
Kawhi 29.1/35.57
Manu 22.8/28.36
Tiago 21.6/28.06
Patty 18.8/35.39

Glanced over some past games since the team got back to having the full roster and I didn't see guys going well over 30 often, as their averages suggest. With Patty as kind of an exception with TP resting, I'd lean towards Pop getting playoff rotations set and having the team physically set for extended minutes.

He still should rest against Phoenix. Not because of injury, but because of the minutes and the back to back.

There is no way you get a torn from that little movement in the knee. Basically his knee shifted and he will have some swelling for about a week. So he should be just fine for the playoffs. His knee bent far worse last year and it was just a severe sprain. I have seen this very thing happen many of times and no one I have know torn anything. They Hyper-extended their knee and were back playing in a week's time at nearly 100%. Its a common BB injury. Nothing serious. Of course, no injury is better. But at Least he will be wearing another knee brace to protect both knee.

You can tear an ACL with much less.

That is if you come down hard on your ACL like Rose did, you can blowout your knee, but the knee would shift much more than that. Duncan barely jumped and he landed on his foot wrong. Can have easily have been an ankle sprain instead of a knee sprain.

He's not playing. Apparently he was limping pretty good after the game. Shut him down til playoffs tbh.

Fuck. I'm worried that knee is gonna be a recurring problem throughout the playoffs. :(

Pretty much this... Pop tends to play them a little more when they're going to get extra rest. He will have 3 days off now as the next game is not until Monday

truth tbh. I tore mine doing a simple crossover last summer, a move that I've done millions of times before that with no problem.

I'm damn surprised POP let Duncan continue to play. Guess he is going to be ok. Someone said he was limping after the game...that's a little nerve wrecking, but last years injury looked way worse. He had to be helped off the court iirc and they listed him as day-to-day. Let's see what they say today.

Hope TD recuperates and that this does not recur.
