Fuckem if the locals don't like it.

Cuba would be a lot more open to capitalism if we removed the embargo, but the power structure in Washington is still pissed that Castro let Russia put military-grade nuclear weapons into the waters protecting Cuba....could have started WW3 if Kennedy had listened to the Chief of Staff and invaded Cuba...

Repugs especially, jingoistic/war-mongering assholes always needing a external enemy to strut their bogus national security/USA-supremacy cred, are the main block to dropping the Cuba embargo.

Fuck normalizing relations. I'm talking about kicking their ass, stealing their cigars, sending all those old cars to the Barrett Jackson auction, reopening the casinos, etc. Plus, if some old mexican in a rowboat can catch a 20' Marlin, the fishing must be awesome!

Well, are they asking for our help like the government powers of Crimea asked Russia for?

Besides, the way our government continues to unfold for the worse, would we be dong them any favors in the end?

If greasebag troll Sheldon Adelson wanted to build casinos in Cuba, the grovelling Repugs would ANNEX Cuba.

While many politicians understand that money can be used to shape public opinion, it is cheaper to go with the status quo. The money is used to shape public opinion and perception, but we have yet to get to the point where dollar bills enter the voting booth.

And yes yes I know go fuck myself you are going to hold on to your memes no matter what. I will save you the need to post it.

the status quo, for politicians, is whatever their paymasters say it is.

"where dollar bills enter the voting booth."

The candidate who spends the most win 90% of the time.

Adelson et all spent $100Ms in 2012, didn't do very well, but they learned, and are back disgorging $100Ms.

your naivete is hilarious.

eg, Americans overwhelmingly want mj decriminalized, but BigPharma/BigAlcohol don't, so mj stays Schedule I and not even discussed in Congress.

Most Americans are more progressive than Congress, but 1%/VRWC/UCA pay politicians to block progress, maintain the status quo that was purchased to be rigged in 1%/VRWC/UCA favor.

Almost every big problem, every big social issue in America, Americans want solutions, progress, but there enough astro turf tea bagging whores financed by BigMoney to block ALL progress. aka, the Tyranny of the Minority.

I never said that they didn't listen to the money, jackass. I said that it is cheaper to go with the status quo. While Cuban expatriates and the like will always be belligerent towards normalizing relations, an ever increasing amount -including those that lobby- just don't give a fuck. What wealthy group is lobbying actively against Cuba?

Oh and http://beta.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/499 that bill hit the floor last year. Not talked about? You need to pay better attention and quit having your RSS feed do your thinking for you.

http://beta.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-bill/499.

and I said the status quo that the politicians conform to is defined by big contributors.

eg, Obama ran on a very popular public option, but status-quo-definer BigInsurance paid Baucus not to even bring it up.

499 probably won't get out of committee, and if it does, Boner probably won't allow a vote on it, thanks to $$$$ of BigPolice/BigPrison/BigAlcohol/BigPharma. end of 499

You said that they were not allowed to talk about it. I showed you a bill that ws presented last year with a cursory search. Youre wrong for all your moving the goalposts.

and 499 ain't going nowhere, will demonstrate my point that Big$$$ counts for much more than your (disenfranchised) people's "status quo"
