View Full Version : The Viability of Suicide

From what I've gathered, there are two types of Spurs fans on the board:
A.) suicidal ones ("first round exit, here we come")
B.) blind homers ("I'm not worried about Dallas...")

Whatever happened to the moderates, the Rudolph Giulliani's if you will?

Beating the defending NBA champs on the road, you will note, is not really a birth right for the Spurs even if you guys did win 2.5 championships in the not so distant past.

A similar principal applies when predicting Cowboy games; I won't take a win in Indianopolis for granted next year because we had a good run back in the '90's.

This Spurs team, in 2014, is a very respectable third best in the mighty Western Conference Playoffs...

How are you counting those tbh? I've heard 3 and 3.5 before. never heard 2.5.

Moderate here. I think we'll beat Dallas but wouldn't be surprised to see it go 6.

I'm a moderate but no particular fan of Giuliani.

I think it is not homerism to recognize that the Spurs certainly SHOULD take Dallas. While some machoists may claim that a sweep is inevitable, I think more of what you are hearing is that the Spurs are expected to come out of the first round with a big win, regardless of how many games it takes to get there. So sometimes people in here say things like 'Dallas is toast' merely as a way of saying that we will win, eventually.

The mighty LeBron, Wade, and Bosh should be embarrassed that it took an old Ray Allen and Mike Miller to save their season tbh

Get the fuck outta here. Only a "blind homer" wouldn't be worried about playing the weakest team in the western conference playoffs?

Terrible criteria. Terrible thread.

I'm embarrassed for the people who actually took this shit seriously and chimed in saying they were moderate Spurs fans. Who gives a shit what some random, unintelligent fuck thinks? You ain't a homer if you fully expect the best team in the NBA to not be worried about the worst playoff team in the west.

Suicide is always viable for Laker fan. They can only dream of their own 6, since they won't even sniff being close for at least another half decade.

The best team in the NBA went 0-8 against OK City and Houston, two likely opponents.

OP's comment: "(Blind homers): 'I'm not worried about Dallas'"

My comment on that: "Get the fuck outta here. Only a "blind homer" wouldn't be worried about playing the weakest team in the western conference playoffs?"

You're talking about the 2nd and 4th seed when we were talking about the 8th seed. That's irrelevant man.
