Wrong question.
What you should have asked if you had any sense, which you don't, was which Texas universities consider themselves Ivy League schools?
And if you ask me, I won't tell you.

Here, I will post a news article from a respected source to support my claim there are no Ivy League schools in Texas.
In the next month, Kwasi Enin must make a tough decision: Which of the eight Ivy League universities should he attend this fall?
A first-generation American from Shirley, N.Y., the 17-year-old violist and aspiring physician applied to all eight, from Brown to Yale.
The responses began rolling in over the past few months, and by late last week when he opened an e-mail from Harvard, he found he'd been accepted to every one. School district officials provided scanned copies of acceptance letters from all eight Monday. Yale confirmed that it was holding a spot for Enin.
The feat is extremely rare, say college counselors — few students even apply to all eight, because each seeks different qualities in their freshman class. Almost none are invited to attend them all. The Ivy League colleges are among the nation's most elite.
"My heart skipped a beat when he told me he was applying to all eight," says Nancy Winkler, a guidance counselor at William Floyd High School, where Enin attends class. In 29 years as a counselor, she says, she's never seen anything like this. "It's a big deal when we have students apply to one or two Ivies. To get into one or two is huge. It was extraordinary."
For most of the eight schools, acceptance comes rarely, even among the USA's top students. At the top end, Cornell University admitted only 14% of applicants. Harvard accepted just 5.9%.
But Enin has "a lot of things in his favor," says college admissions expert Katherine Cohen, CEO and founder of IvyWise, a New York-based consulting firm.
For one thing, he's a young man. "Colleges are looking for great boys," Cohen says. Application pools these days skew heavily toward girls: The U.S. Department of Education estimates that females comprised 57% of college students in degree-granting institutions last year. Colleges — especially elite ones — are struggling to keep male/female ratios even, so admitting academically gifted young men like Enin gives them an advantage.
He ranks No. 11 in a class of 647 at William Floyd, a large public school on Long Island's south shore. That puts him in the top 2% of his class. His SAT score, at 2,250 out of 2,400 points, puts him in the 99th percentile for African-American students.
He will also have taken 11 Advanced Placement courses by the time he graduates this spring. He's a musician who sings in the school's a capella group and volunteers at Stony Brook University Hospital's radiology department. Enin plans to study medicine, as did both of his parents. They immigrated to New York from Ghana in the 1980s and studied at public colleges nearby. Both are nurses.
Being a first-generation American from Ghana also helps him stand out, Cohen says.
Enin says he got the idea to apply to all eight in 10th or 11th grade, discovering that each has "their own sense of school spirit" and other qualities he liked. He also applied to three State University of New York campuses and Duke — and yes, they have all accepted him.
In a phone interview, Enin said Princeton so far has offered the most generous aid package. But he has yet to get offers from Columbia, Cornell or Harvard. Either way, he'll need to accept a place in the class of 2018 somewhere by May 1. He wants to pursue both music and medicine.
Cohen says he's "sitting in a very good place right now — I think he can negotiate the very best financial aid package he can get" at his top-choice school. "Almost any of them would do anything for this type of candidate," Cohen says.
She advises that Enin call or write each of the eight and let them know that he's got a slot in each other's freshman class. They'll compete to get him to show up in the fall.
Once he decides, she says, he should write letters to the seven runners-up saying he's "honored to have been admitted." After all, he's got to keep his options open for graduate school.

UTAustin

Trinity University
Baylor University
SMU might be another one, and maybe Steven F. Austin.
There are many Ivy League schools all across the nation now because the term only loosely applies to the ones up east these enlightened days, although those eastern schools try to maintain the label, there is no patent on it.

But the term "Ivy League Schools" itself refers to more than the conference these days and has for the last 50 or years.
But I'm tired of correcting you idiots.

:lolWhich schools in Texas actively call themselves "Ivy League" schools?
I say none of them do.
And no. It's not just an athletic conference designation.
No other school would dare advertise itself as an "Ivy League" school. That school would be successfully sued by the Ivy League schools.

I'm not going to pretend like I have a high business acumen at this point, but I really don't think that undergrad should play as big of a role as it does. Sure, you congregate the gunners and the average intelligence of the students is higher, but individuals at other schools may be more qualified for certain jobs. I'm not going to pretend like I have a high business acumen at this point, but I really don't think that undergrad should play as big of a role as it does. Sure, you congregate the gunners and the average intelligence of the students is higher, but individuals at other schools may be more qualified for certain jobs. That being said, I'm sure that if I applied specifically to get into the top business program in the country, I would have a different view on things.
A degree from U-Penn >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any high business acumen.
I work with a few people who were poly Sci/liberal arts majors at Columbia/Cornell and they're all in really good jobs :lol

Its a good school no doubt, but I think your analogy of the Harvard of texas is incorrect. I would probably choose UT over Rice if given the choice (of course it depends on what you want to do..)
I'm just going on what others say who assess schools for a living:

If I had to pay my own way, I'd go to UT too but if I had full scholly to either, I'd have to do research on which might be better for me personally.

:lmaoWho is a public figure?
A public figure is someone who has actively sought, in a given matter of public interest, to influence the resolution of the matter. In addition to the obvious public figures—a government employee, a senator, a presidential candidate—someone may be a limited-purpose public figure. A limited-purpose public figure is one who (a) voluntarily participates in a discussion about a public controversy, and (b) has access to the media to get his or her own view across. One can also be an involuntary limited-purpose public figure—for example, an air traffic controller on duty at time of fatal crash was held to be an involuntary, limited-purpose public figure, due to his role in a major public occurrence.
Examples of public figures:
A former city attorney and an attorney for a corporation organized to recall members of city counsel
A psychologist who conducted "nude marathon" group therapy
A land developer seeking public approval for housing near a toxic chemical plant
Members of an activist group who spoke with reporters at public events

And more examples:

Since we all posted on this site, as well as entered into public discussions we forfeited our rights to be considered private citizens under the law.

There are different types of media on the internet. In this case, this messageboard would be considered social media. Mass media is basically what makes a public figure a public figure.
does many people watching a Tom Cruise movie on the internet make Tom a public figure? Yes.
Does Avante creating a Facebook page on the internet him a public figure? No.
Does that mean that Avante can't take legal action for libel on a messageboard as a private citizen? If he can meet certain criteria, he can absolutely sue for defamation of character.
Would he win his case? My slappy opinion is that he wouldn't stand a chance.
And the best case scenario for him would be that the board owners are forced to remove all pedo references about him and prohibit future references.

Only part of what you say is true. The part I put in bold needs to be questioned. Why did you say no?
Yes, Avante could sue as could Chump, but since they posted on this social "public" media site they would have "very little" recourse under the law.
They would have to spend thousands of dollars to sue which I said was prohibitive at best.
You are wrong that facebook and this public site here IMHO does not make you a public entity because even though it is a social media, it is also a mass media and even more so because it reaches more people than TV or the movies do, it reaches all over the world whereever there is a computer and the internet.
Even so, as a public figure, you would still be able to sue. It is just extremely unlikely you would win your suit, and even if you did win such as when Mel Gibson did, the winnings would be so negligible that it really was not worth it. I explained all this before.
That is why most politicos who are defamed resort to defamation to retaliate, it is easier, quicker, and much much less expensive.
I also explained all this in my posts before. You are saying nothing new that I did not already tell you.
The difference is you claim a facebook post does not make you a public figure, but by the very nature that facebook is a in the public domain then you are wrong.
However, if someone else posts you on one of these sites, and you can prove that you never did, then by law you are still a private entity since it was done either against your will or without your consent and knowledge.
I believe this pretty much covers most of it.
Your statement that posting on a site like this and entering into discussions, or on facebook does not make you a public figure, is interesting and needs to be elaborated on if you can substantiate your argument.
Can you?

Sorry counselor, you have provided no support for your contentions. I posted two sites that disprove your contention that putting one picture on facebook makes on a public figure.
You have posted nothing to prove it.
Regardless, one cannot post outright falsehoods about a person whose name and picture are included in the post, especially ones that could damage the reputation or livelihood of the person falsely accused. So when SA210 and SBM stalked a guy, posted his name and picture and labeled him a pedophile several hundred times, they left themselves wide open to legal action -- provided the person named can prove damages of one kind or another.
SBM and SA210 finally read the articles I posted at the time, and they have permanently backed down from ever posting the name of the guy they stalked.
It's hilarious they do pretty much everything I tell them to -- except anything that would make them find out what they really want to know.

Who is a public figure?
Members of an activist group who spoke with reporters at public events
https://www.eff.org/issues/bloggers/legal/liability/defamation
And more examples:
http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/examples-public-and-private-figures
Not one mention of "some guy who posted a few pictures of himself on facebook."
In light of this new evidence, would you like to amend your argument, counselor?
Because the legal definition of "public figure" has been definitively set. It's crystal clear what the criteria is.
Starting a Facebook page does not meet the criteria of suddenly making the Facebook page owner a "public figure".
It's realllly simple.
You best reread the "limited public figure" part over again because if you do, you will see that (a) fits this scenario at this site, and (b) fits the facebook scenario.
And if you are also saying that because it is a "social" medium and NOT a "mass" medium, so it would not apply, then I am saying that you are wrong, because internet sites are both social and mass mediums at the same time IMHO, and I believe the law says the same, simply because it says that about the TV and radio medias. And the internet medium encompasses both of those and more.
Thus in a libel suit one side will argue that posting and discussing on this site, or a site like facebook constitutes that one IS a public figure, and the other side will argue that it does NOT make one a public figure, and thus they have been defamed.
The laws are very precise and try not to leave room for misinterpretations, and usually when they are misinterpreted, or loosely interpreted, then those are the cases that usually end up going all the way to the supreme court.
In a libel suit it would be extremely hard to prove that internet sites like this site here which especially allow discussions, or a site like facebook which has minimal discussions, would not be ONLY a social or a mass media and not both.
I seriously doubt that the law specifically makes a legal distinction between social and mass media tbh. I could be wrong, but I doubt it does.
A little more research is in order IMHO.
The question I have is, is your source a media source definition, or is it a U.S. law source definition? They are not often the same.
I am not quibbling over this, rather I am trying to get to the definitive legal definition.
If your point is that you can still sue for defamation of character, of course you can, and I never said you couldn't.
I did say it wouldn't matter, because the suer would have too hard a problem winning, mainly because of the public figure issue. I also said that even if you won, it would be financially unfeasible, and mentioned Mel Gibson case and what he barely won. The fortune he had to spend in order to win the case is another matter.
Until I see it written in legalese then I seriously doubt that the internet is unlike the TV and radio medias as far as media law goes.
I will however check out your links to look specifically for that.
I never said that you could not sue. Hell, you can sue anyone for practically anything these days.
I said that it wouldn't be worth it to do so even if you were lucky enough to win, and most likely you would not win.
Later.

I don't have him on any high school lists so if he did run he did nothing. He did run an indoor season while at Marshall, his 60 wasn't much but he did run a stellar 200m. And with his built that's where he'd been, a 200.400 guy. I don't see him as a stud 100m guy, he wasn't about...zoom...he would have been more about sustained speed. But, I don't see him "world class" more of an NCAA guy.
This will work, the freak bumping me up and giving me a chance to show off. No doubt he'll constantly be with me.

You can be arrested for calling someone a pedophile on facebook a social media, and I am pretty sure by extension the same would apply here at this site.
It is called "malicious communications" and is defamatory. It has already happened.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2539868/Woman-arrested-writing-Facebook-ex-paedophile-picture-him.html
So be forewarned, all you who called someone a pedophile on here can be arrested for doing so, and the proof is in the quotes in these threads so going back and editing your original words will not help you.

Nope, it doesn't.
The rest was too long to read. Sorry.
Yes, it most certainly does and I am finding more and more proof that it does by following those links Chump posted.
There is even a recent arrest for specifically calling someone a pedophile on facebook. I posted the link.
And they say they are going to start aggressively doing this more and more.
So it looks like your days are numbered because I can find lots on here of you calling Avante a pedo.

At what point do you start feeling sorry for the guy like I do? It's real obvious he's not right and has problems. His goal is to bug you, now how sad is that and it's all he ever does here. I don't really care about the pedo thing I realize the game that has to be played, it's no big deal, everyone knows my stance on that. The kids like this Blake freak just look stupid and childish playing that.

Washington was a 13.7 hurdler while at Michigan State, a tall fluid guy with a stride. He was howver pretty much a fly pattern receiver, sorta limited but succesful in that role.

It doesn't matter if the person were public or private in this case because they will still arrest you for "malicious communications" which is defamatory issue.
Here is the link of the most recent arrest:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2539868/Woman-arrested-writing-Facebook-ex-paedophile-picture-him.html
So whether or not you are private or public makes no difference in being arrested.
It may make a difference later in court however if you can prove you are a private figure versus a public figure.
We are going to see more and more of these arrests due to the ignorant trolls on sites like these who like to accuse people of being all sorts of sick characters.

Only as far as her court case is concerned in proving defamation of character in a libel suit.
Being a public or private figure did not stop them from arresting her though, nor did it matter whether it was a social or mass medium.

It's an "I don't know what the court will decide". They are the ones who will determine whether or not they are public or private figures.
What you would like to believe one way or the other won't make a bit of difference.
What back pedaling? How can I answer what has not been determined by the courts yet?
Can you? No.
Why? Because it will be determined in court.

But here is something you all should think about before making wild defamatory statements in the future especially with respect to sites like ST:
http://www.infotoday.com/OnlineSearcher/Articles/Features/Getting-SLAPPed-Defamation-and-Your-Blog-89349.shtml
Which says:
"I’m sure everyone’s mother, like mine, at some point paraphrased Bambi’s advice to Thumper and said, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” No doubt this is sound advice when you are 12, but as an adult and an information professional, it takes on a whole new meaning. Where does saying things that aren’t all that nice intersect with freedom of speech?
Those who blog, tweet, and otherwise comment on critical issues affecting their work and workplace communities do so to offer constructive criticism. You have opinions, and potentially concerns, about issues that you want to share with others who might be dealing with similar issues. Sometimes as part of those commentaries, you can’t restrict yourself to remaining “nice” in order to communicate your thoughts, beliefs, and perspectives about the practices or actions of others. But then you run the risk of a SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation)."

And for Blake and Chump who are the anonymity issue, you had best take notice of what has happened in Philadelphia recently.
https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20140308/12472826497/philly-court-orders-website-to-unmask-anonymous-commenter-named-defamation-suit-update.shtml
Basically it says: "Anonymous commenters are often held up as examples of the worst aspects of the internet. It's an enabler of abhorrent behavior, as the lack of identification allows people to make statements without suffering consequences. Of course, this isn't the only "benefit" of anonymity, but it's the one that gets the most press, so to speak.
A new website has just been ordered to turn over information on an anonymous commenter who's currently the target of a defamation lawsuit.
A Philadelphia judge has ordered the owners of Philly.com - who also own The Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News - to disclose the identity of a person who posted a comment online.
The ruling came in a defamation suit filed by John J. Dougherty, the powerful head of Local 98 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
In October 2012, Dougherty sued over a comment posted two months earlier on a Daily News blog that described a public feud involving Dougherty. The comment identified Dougherty by his well-known nickname, "Johnny Doc," and called him "the pedophile."
Dougherty sued the anonymous poster, and his lawyers subpoenaed Philadelphia Media Network, Philly.com's parent company, to supply the person's identity. Right or wrong, Philly.com did at least put up a fight. It turned down Dougherty's subpoena, stating it would only reveal the commenter's information with a court order. The order itself is fairly expansive, not only asking for identifying info, but also for all comments posted by "fbpdplt" from August 2012 thru January 2014. (Apparently, only one comment is currently being referred to as defamatory.)
So if I were you two, and your buds who call people pedo and faggot, I would censor what I say from now on because your days being anonymous are over once they decide to arrest you.
