What a great performance, tbh..
Completely shut down Nowitzki, cleaned up the boards and scored when he needed to..
If only he`d be able to produce on offense..

8 and 11 with excellent defense on Nowitzki. I agree he was terrific. Some dumb ass grey in the game thread had the gall to call him "shitter" and say that he hadn't earned his contract.

Tiago's our real X-factor. If he plays the Defense that he played tonight AND scores 9+ points per game, we're pretty much guaranteed the trophy.

That defense on Devin Harris in the last position made me do a triple take... his ability to keep in front of Harris almost made it look like a guard was guarding Harris instead of a Center!
Nowitzki looked like shit, he's injured tbh... Lol at scored when he needed to... Still a better night than Diaw but if this is thread worthy the standards are the lowest I've ever seen for someone getting that kind of money...

Reggie was blowing his load over that.
He got burned by Vince Carter a few times when he was on him though.

He wasn't cheering him on...he was screaming at Tiago to get up on Harris because Pop didn't want to give up a 3. If Harris blows by splitter, we have help defense to rely on. If Dallas scores a 2, we'll live with that.

Ditto on that fantastic D by tiago on Harris when they switched. What I thought was funny: Pop right there telling tiago to press him and make him drive instead of giving up the three.
That last layup that he missed on his drive should've been a dunk. Missed layup in what would have been game clenching play. Still a solid game from a guy we will need down the stretch.

as usual Splitter misses 1 shot so everyone hates him since they need a punching bag on this team to release their anger at their failed lives
Duncan missed an actual wide open layup and not a layup as the shot clock was running down and he got a bad pass and had to pull of wizardy to get open
and Pop wasnt cheering him on he was telling him to crowd Harris so he wouldnt have room to get off a 3

He is deceptively mobile. I remember in Game 3 of the WCF in OT. Pop took Duncan out on the final defensive play and had Splitter in him place. Splitter switched on Bayless and blocked his shot on the way to the basket. Earlier this season. He came up big late in a home game against GSW. He got switched off of Lee onto Thompson and managed to keep him in front of him and force him into a contested 26 footer.

Tiago shutting up the haters, per par. He may make some horrible plays at the rim, but he is our defensive anchor and his defense on smaller players is otherworldly. He regularly embarrasses smalls when he gets switched on them.
He is a key piece and his improvement this year has been nice. I am afraid that he will be in no-man's land against OKC and MIA since they go small a lot, but we'll see.

Ya - Splitter overall has very good hands. Not rip down rebounds in traffic great hands, but very soft hands. It's what enabled him to be such an effective PnR player, especially with Manu.

He wasn't born with coonlike jumping ability nor long arms.
Splits played over 20 minutes a game in 11 of the Spurs 2013 Championship run. 19 minutes in two others.
Oh that's right, it didn't end in a Championship in Game 6. :pop: (need a Turnobili icon also)
Point is, no way you can suck and play that many minutes on a team that was good enough to win the 'ship.
Yes it's frustrating when he doe not go up strong. But not always. Sometimes he makes the right choice to pull it back down rather then get blocked. Did an excellent job of that on a key hoop today. Got a couple Mavs up in the air then hooped it.
Superb defensive postioning. Also moves well without the ball.
Return to Championship Winning Tall Balls alongside a healthy Timmy Dunks is what Splits has provided.

Tiago can dunk ok he just needs to get pissed off before he will. The bigs for the Mav's don't push
him around like other bigs like on OKC. I noticed Blair only played a few minutes and Tim made him his
bitch with runs at the basket right over top of him. Back to Tiago and that sling hook he throws up about 4ft out.
I wish Chip would work with him on that shot. Till now it's a low% shot for him. It looks like he just slings
the ball up and it's a hail Mary............

Tiago has good hands for a big his arms and legs, not so much
He did miss the easy lay in but you can watch him on camera the entire way to get back on D
Switched and for 1 play guarded Harris better than anyone else at any other point in the game
You can miss shots even with better skill (Dirk & TD both missed gimmies) but most of defense is effort n he had it where we needed it

This was an expected result. He plays traditional or moderately athletic bigs really well. This is not the series where I expect him to struggle.

Wright and Dalenbert did go over on top of his head from behind a few time..Guess what no calls. Tiago matches
up well with some of the bigs who played across from Tim talent wise. He is not a thug and that's OK because they
foul out of games.

Perkins and Ayers are by far the worst bigmen at catching a ball. Its like you have to literally hand off to give them a shot at catching it. Splitters hands aren't bad.

He's had soomeof his best games against teams like Memphis, and our potential second round opponent is similar to Dallas. He could potentially keep this up til the Finals (if they get there) until his balls shrivel up against Lebron.

Yeah, he defensive instincts, footwork and agility defending guards on the perimeter is bloody good for a man his size.
He still can't finish against smaller players or post them up very well :( He has had a couple of opportunities against Vince Carter (who is strong though) this series and been unable to finish.
