Spurs, Thunder, and the Heat are the only teams to hold home court. Seems about right tbh.

Gonna love watching clips vs dubs and Houston vs Portland...oh and mike b at Atlanta with a good win in Indiana. They have really good shot at knockin off the pacers.

Sure. But it's actually been pretty civil downstairs. I would rather spend time there since it's frequented by fans of multiple teams.

Have we ever seen this many upsets on the opening weekend of the playoffs? I didn't get to watch any games but the results mostly surprised me (Atlanta beating the Pacers was honestly the least shocking). I'd love to see Memphis start to solve OKC more reliably and for Portland to do more of what they did in Game 1 to Houston.

Too much volume for one thread - could do with maybe one thread for the East series, and one each for Thunder-Griz, Rockets-Blazers, Clippers-Warriors

Is it too early to wonder if we may actually see Atlanta or Washington in the ECF? If they both win their first round series, one of them is headed there.

Indiana has seemed so fractured now for so long, I really think they could lose. And Washington/Chicago is a toss up.

Anyone not watching Memphis-OKC right now is missing out on a great game. Memphis calmly imposing their style of play, though the Thunder have rallied to make it a see-saw affair.

Durant with only 2 FTA in the game so far, 8 minutes left.

I'll be genuinely shocked if he doesn't get to 10 FTA for the game from here.

I've only watched the second half, but I still can't determine what it is that Memphis is doing right.

In any case, OKC is gonna get desperate soon and start falling left and right trying to get KD and Westbrook to the line.

Marc Gasol is a poster child for how to battle Ibaka down low. Splitter should watch this entire series.

Almost impossible to beat the Thunder in OKC when the game is close in the 4th, tbh. Durant is to hard to stop from scoring.

He and Westbrook love going ape when they smell blood in the water. Just now, they block Gasol at the top of the key and Westbrook screams down into the post for a dunk. Watching their offense being run by an amped up Westbrook is terrifying and confusing.

I was too busy marveling at the shot that I didn't even look at whether or not it was a foul. I was in the middle of saying that, while OKC clearly has the Spurs' number, KD and Westbrook hero ball is the exact reason why the Thunder won't win a title.

Memphis is demonstrating that there is an antidote to OKC's zero-strategy-let-KD-and-Westbrook-outshoot-the-opponent offense that the Spurs get flustered by. The Grizz are showing championship resolve in OT despite that ridiculous OKC comeback.

What's funny is that Brooks is now convinced that Kendrick Perkins is an important part of a clutch offense.

Horry Hipcheck
04-21-2014, 10:24 PM
Westbrook went for glory at the end of regulation instead of playing for the tie, missed badly with plenty of time remaining, and the game would have ended right then and there if Perkins hadn't come away with the rebound. Then he goes way too hard for the steal on the inbounds, down by two, and puts and 85% FT shooter on the line. OKC's only option from there is to do what they always do when they desperately need points, which is run screens for Durant beyond the arc and let him pull up from 3. Naturally, he can't make them all, so he bricks and Memphis walks away with the W they should have gotten in regulation.

I didn't get a chance to look carefully at the replays, but my first impression wasn't that he went too hard for the steal, but that it was a dangerously dumb inbounds pass by Beno. In that situation I wouldn't throw the ball anywhere in the vicinity of Westbrook.

It probably was, though Westbrook came from about 30 feet away at Mach 3 to try and make that play. Udrih, I think, made the right choice, his pass just allowed a little too much time for Westbrook to try and be the conquering hero again.

OKC was out of timeouts and Memphis was shooting FTs. Perkins was in the game to rebound a potential missed free throw.

Does anyone honestly still think Dallas had a higher chance of beating OKC? It's hard enough out-scoring them, especially with Carlisle's roster. But the Grizzlies bring a type of pressure and know-how which is just enough to squeeze out a couple of wins.
