Small little fast guys for distance works well.
East and North Africa rule.

This illustrates why you don't find many muscular guys going from the 400 to the 800.
And then once you get to the 1600 and over the above is what you get.

Wanna see Bolt die, take him four laps against these machines.

hahahaha little guy, you can always tell the rookies.

Gilbert Jefferson, Kevin Cottonfield, Tyrone McFuckface and Slappy Nigson would smoke all of those guys in a 4x100.

Is Tech bringing in Kenyan ringers?

Is Tech bringing in Kenyan ringers?

It looks that way, and they're dominating. They're also bringing in Jamaican sprinters.

I guess my question(s) also is how did they find their way to Lubbock and why aren't more schools doing it

Maybe other schools have integrity. :lol

lol, but actually I suspect most other schools don't care enough about track to do such a thing.

Track is big in the SEC and the Pac12. Not too much in the Big12 anymore or other places.

Texas Tech was never a major player in the sport. They've have few notable tracksters.

Big 12 has 3 teams in top ten including Tech at #6. Pac12 has one: Oregon.

Why not take a good look at the point total there little man. Look at how many points the top SEC team and the top Pac12 team has, ok? Now look at puny Texas Tech. So tell me small fry just who were those great Red Raiders tracksters from an historical perspective? Little man I can take you back to the first track meet Texas Tech was ever in, trust me we'll see more "world class" tracksters coming out of the SEC/Pac12 than we will the Big12.

Now back when we had....

Big 8

Nebraska
Missouri
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa St
Oklahoma St
Oklahoma
Colorado

and the old Southwest Conference

TCU
Arkansas
SMU
Baylor
Rice
Texas
Texas Tech
Houston
Texas A&M

things were different.

Dude, compare TT history in track and field vs any big time school. Tell me what ya find. Can they have a once in awhile star....sure! But who doesn't have a once in awhile star?

UCLA and USC have had....over a dozen Olympians in just the 100 to 400m. TT has never had a "great" sprinter. long jumper or hurdler. TCU alone has had seven sub10.00 sprinters among the alumni. TT has never had a sub10.10 guy.

Gil Roberts might be approaching the prime of his career as one of America’s top quarter-milers. That’s certainly the case if the past three days were any indication. The former Texas Tech all-American won the 400 meters Saturday at the U.S. outdoor track and field championships in Sacramento, California, running a personal-record time of 44.53 seconds.Roberts shot out to a fast start and won easily against a quality field.

It was Roberts’ third major national or international title. In 2012, he won the U.S. indoor 400 and anchored the U.S. men’s gold-medal winning 1,600-meter relay at the IAAF world championships in Istanbul, Turkey.

Oh look. I had forgotten about this, but another track and field star made history last October.

INDIANAPOLIS -*Former Lady Raider track and field student-athlete*Ifeatu Okafor*was officially named the NCAA Woman of the Year Sunday night at an awards banquet in downtown Indianapolis.Okafor was selected from a field of nine finalists representing NCAA Division I, II and III for her achievements in athletics, academics, leadership and community service. In all, more than 450 student-athletes were originally nominated for the prestigious award which encompasses a female student-athlete's entire collegiate career.*"It's very special," Okafor said. "Texas Tech has just played such a huge role in my life. My experiences at Texas Tech have developed my character and transformed me into a better person. I'm truly grateful."

Sunday's ceremony marked the 23rd*in the award's history, while Okafor is the first NCAA Woman of the Year from the Big 12 Conference.

How about this one....

Don Hutson ran track (way back when) and played baseball (and football) at Alabama. So one day he had a track meet and a baseball game on the same day right there on campus. So when it came time to run the 100 yard dash he walks over dressed in his baseball uniform and wins the race, then heads back over to the baseball diamond to resume the baseball game.

I have a similar story. Was running track and playing soccer. Star forward and ran 2nd leg on the 4x100. I was the fastest but always ended up with the back leg to give us a lead that wasn't often made up. Anyway, had a soccer game and track meet on the same day. I wanted to go to the track meet which was county finals but my dad made me go to the soccer game since I signed up for that first. After the soccer game (yep...I scored most of the goals), a parent of one of the other track guys was at the game to pick me up and haul me over to the track meet. They were already lining up for the race. I hauled across the football field and got in my spot. We ended up setting the county record for the 4x100 that day. Ended up getting 2nd at state which we took as a loss. Yep...had a lead until our 4th leg gave it up. The wind was incredibly strong that day and my leg ran with it and the 4th leg against. While both me and the 4th leg were fast, I was the bigger stronger runner and probably would have done better going into the wind that last leg. Yep...stings to this day.

For once I believe that, only someone familiar with track knows about that second leg on a 4x1. You want your best 200m guy there so he can push the zone at near max velocity. Tons of 4x1's won/lost right there.

Cool story and ya need more of that and less..."see me everyone aren't I funny"...since you aren't.

I actually also was our top 200 runner. Qualified for state in that as well. But ended up skipping the race because our 4th leg skipped his 400 to focus on the relay. Thought it was cool to not care about the 200. Looking back, wish I would have ran it. Yep...the guy that I beat in county who took 2nd in county won by 20 yards. I still remember sitting in the stands watching him come around the turn thinking I might have made a mistake.

The 200m is more about....speed endurance...than explosive speed. We see more white sprinters there than in the 100m because of that. More about sustained speed.

I hear ya about looking back and thinking you made a mistake, I should have been a linebacker instead of a running back.

not by me here. yep...I did all those things. got a few medals somewhere. none of them gold which is why I don't even think about it much. the story about the 2 sports guy above brought it back to me. should have enjoyed it more at the time but was made about not winning. we lost to the same team that we always ran against in county and had beat that same year.

maybe wouldn't have felt so bad if it was to some other team. losing to someone you know you can beat...sux.

I also remember our team getting 2nd in a major soccer tournament after blowing a 3-0 lead. We only had 11 and the ref red-carded our left wing for not much of a foul.

After the trophy ceremony, most our our team threw the trophies in the trash on the way to the cars.

While the NFL is full of former NCAA track guys, there were a lot that never made it at that level, but it wasn't because of a lack of speed.

Leonard Scott who's 9.94 is the fastest time ever ran by anyone who ever touched a football. He was out of Tennessee.

LSU,s Xavier Carter, Florida's John Capel were two "world class" guys who bombed out. Capel ranked number one in the world in the 100m once upon a time.

Can't really count Olympic gold medalists Jimmy Hines Texas Southern and San Jose States Tommie Smith, they weren't footballers, they were experiments that failed. Same can be said about another Olympian Ray Norton also out of San Jose State***

Andrew Hopkins a 9.2 running back out of SFAustin, didn't make it in the NFL but would become a big star in the CFL.

*** San Jose State was the TCU of sprinting in the late 50's to the early 70's, no less than six World Record holders/Olympians coming out of there.

But I can do it in a matters of minutes for all NCAA schools. I could do the entire Pac12 before you/anyone could Google the needed info for one school. Wanna try me? I didn't think so.

Just a knowledge that nobody else has. And I can do that with a ton of subjects. Why fight it so hard little buddy?

Wrong as usual my friend. Nobody can can do that with the speed I do it with...NOBODY!

I could knock out every school in the SEC before you/anyone else could figure out one.

I know what you're thinking. You just find a site about some schools track program then merely copy what they show as that schools top 10 sprinters. Well that won't work. Ya see this isn't about just times, it's about accomplishments something you just know or don't. Google won't help you there.

I am the only one who can do what I do and everyone knows it. It is funny watching guys like you however who just can never..."yep, you're right". Why do you always try so damn hard to discredit everyone? Ya know..."oh yeah, well Chubb averaged..:".....hahahaha!~~!!!!!!!!!!!

I am the the most knowledge "sprint" fan out there, there is nobody on my level...NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!! Oxford...hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fastest footballer in the country in 2015 will be TCU rceiver Kolby Listenbee. He ran a 10.04 at the NCAA, that would have won every Olympics up until 1984. The great Bob Hayes had a PR of 10.06 (being in 64 it is far more impressive however).

TCU does hold the NCAA record in the 4x1 realay and has has seven sub 10.00 sprinters, no other school with more than three.

While here.

Look for Nick Chubb and John Conner (as mentioned in 2014) to be big in 2015.

Provided by Texas Tech Athletics

The Texas Tech men's track & field program received its first ever first-place ranking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association indoor rankings.

This is the first time that a Texas Tech program has been ranked first since the Lady Raider Basketball team received a No. 1 ranking on January 12, 2004.

The ranking marks the fifth-consecutive week that the Red Raiders have been in the top 10, and the fourth-straight week of sitting in the top five......"

"Two Texas Tech athletes are turning heads in the college sports world with their recent successes. Brothers and Lubbock natives, Trey and*Jarrett Culver, have propelled into the limelight of their respective sports. Trey, award-winning high jumper for the Texas Tech Track and Field team, and Jarrett, guard for the Texas Tech Men's Basketball team, have become leaders on their teams and are now at the forefront of Texas Tech Athletics.
*
Now a senior,*Trey Culver*continues to rise to the occasion, soaring to the top of the collegiate high jump world. With his performances in 2016 and 2017, Culver earned a spot in Texas Tech lore by winning the Indoor National Championship title and Outdoor Big 12 Championship both years. Most recently, Trey jumped an impressive 7 feet, 7 ¾ inches, breaking the Texas Tech indoor record and placing him fourth all-time on the NCAA high jump record list. Now, looking for his third National Championship title -- a feat never accomplished -- he goes into his final season with hopes of raising the bar further......"

OLONGAPO, the Philippines, April 17—*Amid the garish bars that cater to American servicemen here, a young prostitute with spiky pink hair greets a circle of acquaintances with the reminder, ''Hey, we're dying.''

The young woman and her acquaintances are among the 26 prostitutes who have tested positive for the AIDS virus among the thousands of women who work the lively streets outside Subic Bay Naval Station.

Many of the 26 remain at work even as they wait for the symptoms of illness to appear. Rather than ban them from the bars, Philippine officials have encouraged the infected prostitutes to have their customers use condoms. The officials acknowledge that many of the women still work the streets.

The Filipino women and American men at Olongapo, many of whom take part in the sex trade despite the presence of the AIDS virus, are the latest generation in a nearly century-long connection between the United States Navy and the city that lives off it. Dependent Role

Few places in the world have had as long and as intimate a relationship with the United States as Olongapo.

To Filipino opponents of the American bases, the dependent role of Olongapo is symbolic of an unhealthy relationship between the United States and its former colony. The lease on the bases is being renegotiated by the two countries.

The opponents of the bases say the spread of acquired immune deficiency syndrome and the refusal of the United States to take responsibility for infected Filipinos is a further illustration of the nature of the relationship. Although the United States Navy has twice conducted screenings of the registered prostitutes in Olongapo, the United States has not offered to care for those who have tested positive for the AIDS virus.

The Americans have been at Subic Bay for 90 years, and for 90 years this has been a one-industry town - what is delicately known as the ''entertainment industry.''

''If this place wasn't here, this would all be jungle,'' said Casey Jones, a seaman from South Carolina who owns a bar here.

Today, with a transient population of 275,000, Olongapo is home to 300 bars and nightclubs and 6,000 registered prostitutes. According to some estimates, that number swells to 16,000 when the fleet is in........

Then, yet another list arranged based on the Vitamin C content as we think this helps to inhibit various cancers in concert with other precise vitamin content.

Then if you could again reassign them a lane based on the part of the plant ex. leave, stem, root, seed/flower.. Etc that they have been specifically bred for eating.

Yep, both records went down just like I thought they would. The amazing thing was this was done on a wet track.

Tomorrow is the womens turn, watch 400 hurdler Sydney McClaughlin from Kentucky, yep, special.

LSU's Aleia Hobbs wins the 100m barring injury.

USC's Rai Benjamin split a 43.5, that gives the Trojans four sub 44.00 sprinters in school history (talking alum) only Baylor can match that.

Track is big in the SEC and the Pac12. Not too much in the Big12 anymore or other places.

Texas Tech was never a major player in the sport. They've have few notable tracksters.

2019 and Avante is wrong again.

Dude, the season just started, it ends in late June, slow down guy.

And, nobody cares about indoor track anyway, but you don't know that.

Here is my USC All Star team....

4x1...Lennox Miller...Andre DeGrasse...Don Quarrie...James Sanford

110hh...Mark Crear/Ryan Wilson
long jump...Randy Williams/Henry Hines
100m....Lennox Miler/James Sanford
400m...Quincy Watts/Michael Normam
200m...Andre DeGrasse/Don Quarrie

Now let's see your weak ass TT team, oh yeah, ya have no clue, haha~~~~

Wouldn't Wes Welker be the best TT WR? Running back....Donny Anderson, Bam Morris?

"No men’s track and field team ever dominated the Big 12 indoor championships to the degree Texas Tech did Saturday. Even at that, effervescent sprinter Divine Oduduru did his best to steal the show.

The Tech junior ran the 60 meters in a school-record 6.52 seconds, the 200 meters in a world-leading 20.08 and celebrated each victory by darting back up the track and dancing for the fans at the Sports Performance Center.

Those might be the lasting images of Tech successfully defending the Big 12 indoor men’s title, and they might fade someday, but the numbers will be etched in Big 12 annals. The Red Raiders broke Big 12 indoor meet records for points scored and margin of victory, piling up 179 points to second-place Iowa State’s 109.

“I’m so proud that we’ve got a track team and we’re scoring from all areas,” Tech coach Wes Kittley said. “Even though we have certain events we’re really strong at, we’re scoring in a lot of places, and we’re hard to beat when we can do that.”

Now it’s on to Birmingham, Alabama, where in two weeks, the Red Raiders, ranked No. 1 all season, will try and win the program’s first national championship...."

When talking track history TT is a very minor player, they don't have much of a history, they haven't had those great athletes. Simply how it's been guy. Gil Roberts a 400m cat was ok.

Florida's Grant Holloway could win the 60/hurdles/long jump and run a leg on that stud 4x4 team. That's 40 points.

I pay little attention to indoor track, but looking at potential points from below it's very realistic to see TT winning this meet. If they don't then Florida will.

No he didn't.

Montana called Clark “the consummate receiver.”

“He’s not the guy who’s going to get by you every time, but he’ll get by you if you ask him to,” the Hall of Fame quarterback said by phone. “He’ll do everything you want him to. He’ll block downfield. He’ll come in tight and be a small tight end. He never even questioned it..."

Sani Brown was a huge star in Japan, he is now at Florida and just took third in the 60 but was coming on. He is more 100m than the indoor stuff. We never see Japanese sprinters over here so this is a rarity.

With NCAA 60 champ Grant Holloway also at Florida we could see some big thing in that 4x1 relay. Holloway's first season running the sprints, so to cook a 6.50....wow~~~

Dude, you know nothing about what is going on right now in the NCAA do you? Talk to me about what athlete might score 40 points at the indoors.

Blake, you've never got most things, this just another example of just how stupid you really are.

Right here in my hands is a notebook that I started keeping in 1966, it has 76 NCAA schools listed. Those schools that meet my criteria.

There is nobody anywhere who can talk NCAA track on my level and I think you know this.

YES....TT....is not a track power from an historical perspective, they are FINALLY improving. Now look at their history and you'll see it's not all that compared to other schools.

Dude, stop acting like some idiot, ok? Hell guy, I can list everyone who ever did anything in NCAA track going back to the late 1800's. There is NOBODY I;m not aware of, ok guy?

Blake, why do you fight it so damn hard guy?

As we can see Blake has no clue about how any of this works, why he even tries to talk track is a....????????

He played this stupid shit before the NCAA Indoor Champs, TT came in 6/7 something like that.

Track starts heating up in late May, right now those who know the sport chill, take a wait and see approach. WAY TOO EARLY....to be talking shit, only a rookie like Blake talks shit.

TT not known as a track power like I said.

Right now.

Blake, work with me son.

It's like the NFL, who puts much into pre turkeyday, yep, nobody who knows the game.

You continue to simply not understand how track works. These athletes want to be peaking late May, not mid April, so they are training to be ready for league, the regionals and that NCAA Champs meet. So stop looking like a know nothing, ok guy? If they are in peak form now they won't be able to sustain that until JUNE when it really matters, I know.....huh???

Dude, you didn't learn anything from those indoor NCAA Champs were TT got smoked?

Dude, TT has NEVER EVER had a great 100/200 sprinter until right now, ok guy? Never had a sub10.00/20.00 cat, until now. TCU has had....8....sub10.00 sprinters, Houston 4 sub 20.00 cats. TONS of schools on a whole higher level that TT.

Stop talking about things you obviously know nothing about. ok?

Learn how things work, ok Blake?

Large drops in time (or gains in height/distance) stem directly from the workout and skill progressions you’ve taught during the Preparation phases and early Competitive phase. If you have a 12 week season, it’s what you do in the first 8 (or so) weeks that set the flight path for your peak. If you didn’t specifically design your progressions in a way that facilitates optimal execution during Championship Season, it doesn’t matter which elite coaches you steal ‘peaking’ workouts from. It won’t matter.
Running the type of sprints/hurdles/jumps program that performs at a high level year after year takes a consistent commitment of time and effort on the part of the coach. Ubiquitous success also requires thought, planning and, yes, some money too.

Generally speaking, ***********you can hold a ‘peak’ for 1-3 weeks***********, depending on the length of your Prep Phases. In my experience at the HS level, I think it’s reasonable to hold a ‘peak’ for roughly 2 weeks. If you do the math and time it right, that means you can get 2-3 meets with big PRs before you need to reload. But there are no magic workouts late in the season if you didn’t run good progressions early in the season. Just like there are no good jumps in the long jump (http://completetrackandfield.com/jumpstraining/) if you didn’t run a good approach.

Dude, nobody wants that 1-3 weeks to be right now, the Champs are weeks away, ok slick?

Rookies sheesh~~~~~~~~~~~~~

From yesterday:

"Just like last week, it appears to be a two-horse race between top-ranked Texas Tech and second-ranked LSU – but it got a lot closer between the Red Raiders and the Tigers.

Texas Tech received a pair of strong marks this past weekend from Eric Kicinski and Odaine Lewis, who improved their season bests in the discus and long jump, respectively. Kicinski heaved the disc 63.45m (208-2), while Lewis soared 8.10m (26-7) and is now ranked second nationally in that event. The Red Raiders also saw Drew McMichael vault his way inside the top-10 with a clearance of 5.53m (18-1¾).

LSU gained a little bit of ground on Texas Tech thanks to the efforts of freshman phenom Mondo Duplantis. The collegiate record holder in the indoor pole vault became the second best performer in collegiate history in the outdoor version of the event with his clearance of 5.94m (19-5¾) at the LSU Invitational. Duplantis wasn’t the only LSU athlete getting after it as Kary Vincent Jr. moved up to sixth nationally in the 100 at 10.07......"
