:lol every year a high-end role player gets overrated and inexplicably receives MVP hype, tbh..

Last year was Marc Gasol, but at least Fat Gasol can create his own shot occasionally:lol..

:lol so true. SNL made a skit completely mocking and trashing Chicago fans, and they're so clueless that they love and embrace it. No way San Antonio fans would ever embrace a SNL skit called "Julio Swersky's Super Irrational Diehard Fans With A Persecution/Inferiority Complex That Would Put North Korea To Shame" the way Chicago cluelessly embraces their equally insulting SNL parody.

Hes a solid player that could play a role as a big 4 in a contender. Maybe even a big 3 in a team such as Okc. But his offensive limitation takes him out of clas A status.

Solid player in an atrocity of a team.

he's fine... he's not a #1 on a contender, and could only be the #2 if he's paired with an elite offensive player like Durant, and even then its dicey and would require an above average cast. unfortunately, Chicago has him as their #2 with gangbanger as the #1, which is why they didn't see playoff success even when healthy

It's more a function or how much the NBA talent has sucked, especially from the center position.

Big guys who can man a defense will always get hyped (Hibbert, Chandler, Gasol, and now Noah), because those are rare commodities. In the golden age of big men (60s with Russell, Wilt, Thurmond, Unseld, Reed, and the 90s with Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq, Ewing, Daugherty, Mutombo, Mourning), you don't see these role players being hyped. Nobody ever gave MVP considerations to Mark Eaton because, by comparison, there were so many good centers then. But now, Eaton would be a beast on defense and he'd be winning DPoY and getting MVP considerations because you can structure your defense around him.
