Might as well be realists and address the elephant in the room. We are extremely lucky that we aren't down 2-0 and if the Mavs win game 3 which they have a high probability of doing,,,,we lose in 5 instead of 6. Thank God, we re-signed Manu and made no trade up grades at the trade deadline,,,,it makes Phil Jackson look like more of a genius calling us a non dynasty. Phil Jackson has never lost to an 8th seed when his team is the 1 seed,,,,,actually he may have never lost to an 8th seed ever.

Luck plays a big part. Imagine you're Dallas and you gave up an 18 or so point run to lose the game. Which team would you rather be, the team that built the lead and lost it or the team that overcame the deficit?

Exactly.....the Spurs were good enough to bounce back in game 1.
One loss is not going to kill them.
They will play better on the road and rebound to restore order!

Phil Jackson never lost to an 8 seed because he regularly coached the best players in the league and never had to face an 8 seed like the 2011 Grizzlies or 2014 Mavs. As for his extremely asshurt comments toward the Spurs, he can suck a bag of dicks.

I have come to the realization that the series will be more difficult than everybody thought, but I am still taking the Spurs over the Mavs ... as others said, last year it was 1-1 against the Dubs and everything was doom and gloom after the decisive loss in game 2. Be patient and just watch how the Spurs will play much more calm and collected with less turnovers, as they do it most of the time on the road.

The Lakers last year spoiled some people. That series gave the false impression that the 1st round should be a cake walk. There's only one team in the league that's held serve on their home floor so far. It's not going to be an upset across the board just because a team loses at home.

rascal

The first game the Spurs are faced with their own elimination they will lose. Go back and see the current history of this core over the last 5 years, bad record when facing their own elimination. So no game 7 wins for the Spurs and the home court everyone was watching down the stretch and wanting won't matter.

Would rather have the Spurs had the higher draft pick then the home court.
We will watch every team draft ahead of the Spurs this year and good players go before the Spurs pick.

It is not coming down to the Spurs bench. The Spurs bench isn't anything special, I have been saying that all year and now we are seeing it. The top 3 or 4 players (Duncan, Parker, Manu and Leonard) will need to carry the spurs.

This place will be in meltdown with a spur defeat. Most of this board doesn't deserve a title anyways.

This place has been fooled like every year with the regular season success. i say it evey year the spurs are a regular season team, built for regular season success(because they lack athletes and in the playoffs you need athletes) and not so much playoff success.

Last year was a fluke getting lucky with injured teams and easy matchups and that is what the spurs will also need this year, first sign of adversity the team folds out (loses first elimination game they face every year). I don't like the way Pop and RC construct their teams with unathletic players and coming back every year with the same team with only exchanging a low level role player or two and no impact player additions.

I already see some posters who were bragging on the team in hiding, those are the guys who are bailing out early. I am sure they will be back after the spurs win game 3.

Everything that went wrong and can go wrong vs the Mavs is purely psychological. Theres absolutely no way the 2014 Spurs, at their best, could lose to the 2014 Mavs playing their best.

If the Mavs win it will happen because the big 3 are basically ready to call it a career, at least as the core for a contender.
