The Rockets (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/hou/houston-rockets) have yet to pick up their option on the fourth year of Kevin McHale (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/4144/kevin-mchale)'s contract, but sources close to the situation said this week that support for Houston's coach remains strong within the organization and among key players despite the team's struggles thus far in the playoffs.

Although there is no guarantee he would survive a first-round exit -- particularly a sweep -- sources told ESPN.com that the prevailing feeling in team circles is that McHale "deserves more than one season with this group." McHale has strong support from high-profile Rockets such as Howard and forward Chandler Parsons (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6466/chandler-parsons), sources said, and it's believed general manager Daryl Morey and his front office also prefers to see this group -- which is the youngest team in the postseason with an average age of 25.7 -- grow together.

Rockets fans should be praying for a sweep now. If they make it somewhat competitive and push it to six or seven games McHale will be back for sure.

Rockets are just a shitty franchise and it's beyond the power of any coach to fix that.

When you get superstar pay they expect you to show up for the games. McHale could out play Harden
now. I'll bet Kevin went looking for some shorties to put on and get out there.

McHale isn't that bad. Sometimes you just don't have the pieces. Think about last year, dude had to bank on Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik to back up Harden. -_- Now he has Howard, but he has an average bball IQ and is emotional as hell.

McHale is by no stretch a dumb dude either. When he was doing analyst work he was the only dude I ever found myself agreeing with most of the time, and he was usually right. Didn't just parrot popular opinion like the rest of them always do.
