You keep saying that its viewed as worse than rape and murder, please tell me how many people have served life / death sentences for racism. (You're going to need more than 160000 cases to come close)
Should follow his own advice and dedicate all of his valuable time fighting this despicable atrocity of racism now being considered worse than murder and rape:lmao

Rivers: 'I believe he said those things' (http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2014/story/_/id/10853370/doc-rivers-los-angeles-clippers-spurns-owner-donald-sterling)
LOS ANGELES -- Coach Doc Rivers says he turned down an opportunity to speak to Los Angeles Clippers (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/lac/los-angeles-clippers) owner Donald Sterling in the wake of the racist remarks allegedly made by Sterling. Rivers also says he believes Sterling made the remarks and that he isn't sure about his future with the team if Sterling remains the owner.
"I was asked, do I need to talk to Donald, and I passed," Rivers said Monday during a nearly 30-minute conference call with reporters. "Quite honestly, I don't think now is the time or the place, for me at least, so I took a pass."
The comments allegedly made by Sterling were to his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, on an audio recording obtained and released by TMZ. The man making the comments urged Stiviano not to bring black friends to "my games."
When Rivers was asked if he thought the voice on the recording was Sterling's, he said, "Yeah, I believe he said those things." :wow
"I still want to make sure it hasn't been doctored, but 'yes' is the answer," he said. "As far as believing those things, I heard what he said. Until someone tells me differently, you usually listen to what people say. I haven't given him his due process. I haven't given him an opportunity to explain himself and quite honestly right now don't want him to, or don't want him to to me. I'll wait for that further judgment."
Rivers said he isn't sure he could continue being the team's coach and executive vice president of player personnel with Sterling as the owner.
"For me, I honestly don't even want to answer that question, because I don't know," Rivers said. "This just happened. ... I don't want to be part of this story. I don't have an answer one way or the other on that. We'll just wait and see."
Rivers canceled practice Monday, the day after the Clippers lost Game 4 of their first-round series against the Golden State Warriors (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/_/name/gs/golden-state-warriors) 118-97. He met not only with players but also several other members of the organization at the team's Playa Vista headquarters.
"These last 48 hours or more have been really hard for our players and for everyone," Rivers said. "I would just like to reiterate how disappointed I am in the comments attributed to our owner, and I can't tell you how upset I am and our players are. Today I had a meeting with people in our organization because I just felt they needed to hear a voice as well. When you're around all these people, you realize they are just as upset and embarrassed, and it doesn't reflect who they really are.
"That's the thing I got from all of them. They didn't sign on for this, but they're a part of this. They're upset at this, but they're going to hang in there, and so are we as a group and as a team. I have to do a better job with our guys and get them back. From our fans' standpoint, being here for the past 10 hours since we landed, they've been amazing. We need them. I can tell you that. We need unbelievable support right now from other people, and we're hoping we get that tomorrow."
Rivers said he slept for about 45 minutes before Sunday's Game 4 and canceled Monday's practice because players needed a day off to be with their friends and families, although most of the players came to the facility anyway.
"I felt like they needed to breathe," Rivers said. "They've been inundated with this. They've really had no time with their families. I just think they need time. In most cases we'd be practicing and on the floor today. I'm at the facility, and 95 percent or almost all of the players are here anyway. I'll go down and say hi to them and talk to them and make sure they're in the right place.
"Right now it's more than just basketball. This is a non-basketball decision that I thought I had to make, and I thought it was the right decision. If you get your life better, then you can probably do your work better, and I think they needed to do that."
This isn't the first time Sterling has been involved in racial controversy. In November 2009, he agreed to pay $2.725 million to settle allegations that he discriminated against African-Americans, Hispanics and families with children at several apartment buildings he owns in and around Los Angeles.
Awwwww shit! CN get your sweet and sour chicken ass in here and :downspin: this shit. :rollin :lmao :rollin

Doc Rivers played for the Clippers and when he took the job as coach a reporter asked him directly: "Are you ok being employed by Sterling". Doc said: "it's different this time" while smiling. It was not different at all.

Jay Z wears his ignorant-assed Five Percent Nation medallion while sitting in the $4,000 seats at an NBA game, and none of you shitheels got upset. For those who don't know, the Five Percent Nation people believe that “Whiteness is weak and wicked and inferior — basically just an errant child who needs to be corrected.” That's about as blatantly racist as it gets. But most of you will fall back on the most blatantly ignorant response in existence... "That's different." It's not different. Both are reprehensible. And yet you focus on one, and offer the other a pass.
Jay Z has been on speed dial for Obama for years, and none of you make demands that either of them should be boycotted for their obscenely racist associations. Ex-Knicks player Larry Johnson called for an all-Black league today, but none of you are "appalled" by that comment.
The one and only fact here is that this isn't a discussion about racism. Most of you don't really give a shit about racism. This is about who gets to be on top. Sterling is a racist fuck, and I dislike him intensely for it. A whole bunch of you are racist fucks, who pretend that you aren't. Ditto for you. In spades. You can't have it both ways. If you don't have a problem with Jay Z's racist bling on the front row at an NBA game, or in the White House, you're part of the problem. Free your mind, and the rest will follow.

So, if we’re all going to be outraged, let’s be outraged that we weren’t more outraged when his racism was first evident. Let’s be outraged that private conversations between people in an intimate relationship are recorded and publicly played. Let’s be outraged that whoever did the betraying will probably get a book deal, a sitcom, trade recipes with Hoda and Kathie Lee, and soon appear on Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars.
The big question is “What should be done next?” I hope Sterling loses his franchise. I hope whoever made this illegal tape is sent to prison. I hope the Clippers continue to be unconditionally supported by their fans. I hope the Clippers realize that the ramblings of an 80-year-old man jealous of his young girlfriend don’t define who they are as individual players or as a team. They aren’t playing for Sterling—they’re playing for themselves, for the fans, for showing the world that neither basketball, nor our American ideals, are defined by a few pathetic men or women.

I'm honestly not sure why anyone would be surprised that a jew is racist...look at Israel it's basically an apartheid state. Hell, look at the way they use blacks and minorities here in the US through the democrat party. Bribing them with a few cheap benefits in exchange for their vote and political power.

The only reason why there's a moral outraged is because it was on tape, old Clipper fans have been supporting the franchise knowing full well DTS is a racist, the fans have always rooted for the Clippers and not for Sterling, so this should've never changed anything. This also applies to almost every NBA personality who are "shocked" and "appalled" by his comments, Doc Rivers and Magic for example. DTS will eventually step down by force I presume, and it should be ok, because no one is pro Sterling and that's crystal clear. I just really think this is not a huge issue and most people should use more common sense. This is a tale between two people with a fucked up point of view and the Clippers or basketball has NOTHING to do with it.
A large fine is sufficient but the damage is irreparable, so he has no choice but to give way. People need to calm down and put things in perspective before pulling the race card tbqh.

I disagree. I normally agree with that, but look over at Kramer actor from Seinfield, the only thing that can bring you down is racism. Of course, Larry david hooked him up as much as possible and they tried to make light of the situation in Curb your enthusiasm. Ultimately, the one thing that can destroy you in this country is bigotry.
I see him losing his team, even if they dont vote him out, the brothers will get pressured to not resign for that slave master owner.

If the NBA makes the players FA, then the Clippers are fucked. It means Sterling isnt leaving and now what? No player (black, white or pink) is gonna want to play there.
They have to force him to sell. Sponsors already started quitting, and they are a huge part. If theres no legal way to make him sell, the financial side would make him do it.
Now...assuming the do make players FA (Clippers fans are FUCKED) then...well..the Spurs could use Blake!!:toast

When the Lakers suck they still get attention for the sucktitude. The franchise will never be out of the spotlight as long as they're the Lakers. It's not a heartwarming story like the Hornets were as their last year as the Bobcats, but it is a nightly concern. What is wrong with the Lakers...can they be fixed...why the f@#k is Jim running things? I don't think the team moves. I wouldn't be surprised though if Magic and Guggenheim open up their wallets. They'd control the Dodgers and Clippers. That would mean they'd be dominant in L.A. Except for the fact you'd probably wouldn't be able to watch Clipper games. Because you sure as hell can't watch Dodger games from the comforts of your home.

They were still talked about. Laughed at mostly. But then again, Boston is not as massive as L.A. in terms of exposure. With ESPN's office spread out west, it is still close to home. Plus, the 90's weren't as exposed as the 10s. Face it. There is no such thing as anonymity anymore. Even if you suck. Tony Romo still gets air time and he hasn't come close to bringing Dallas to the promised land. It is because he is the QB of America's supposed Team. It will always be relevant.

Did not say they would.
I did not say they should.
Just said it was in play and they should want their own shit.
Would not want to be the Mets in NY either ... but that's just my personal opinion.
If jacking up the value of the team is the goal adding Seattle and OC groups to the mix makes sense.
Of course, they'll be mentioned in the discussion. But the chances of that happening are <1% considering it'd be a terrible financial decision.

Fair points.
But if I was a Seattle billionaire and wanted to get a franchise why not go after one with 2 stars already on it?
I agree that leaving a large market makes little sense which is why I mentioned Anaheim.
stern screwed Seattle/Sonics not silver, maybe he could care less about replacing them.

Jamele Hill is an idiot. Stephen A, when composed on big issues, really does a great job of making his points. Hat's off to him for shutting that dummy up.

Don't see it, as driving to Anaheim from LA for a 7:30 start is a nightmare. I left one time at 4:30 for a 7:30 Angels game and still didn't make it until the middle of the first inning.
But I think they would become more orange county's team than an LA team then. I don't think they're staying at staples.

People should be happy with the result. They shouldn't be able to walk away without lessons learned and dealing with their share of the blame. I also can't wait to see if the players applaud Silver when he bans a player for life for saying "honkies" or "fa**ots" in private when one of their birds record them.

Considering Sterling also has shares in AEG and in Staples Center, does that mean he has to forfeit those holds as well? A la Frank McCourt who tried to keep control of the parking lots around Chavez Ravine.

He absolutely did. It was the right decision and the end game was achieved. Still many questions that will be swept under the rug and I am very interested to see this play out legally. Especially when the next private recording leaks and it's from a player and someone gets offended.

Like many have said before--it is a business. Remember that one CEO chick who got murked because she was tweeting racial stuff about South Africa? Or, the other CIO or whatever who yelled racial epithets to a black kid on an airplane? He got the boot. It doesn't pay to be racist in plain view and Sterling has been this way for decades and he's been nonchalant about it. The ultimate end game was to wrest control over the Clips and secure the 2nd team in the 2nd market to squeeze more blood from the L.A. stone.

If you want to put a hefty fine on him, put an unprecedented amount to set an example and appease the media and move on. But to force him to sell his team over a private and quite honestly a petty issue to which he was obviously baited in btw is laughable.
Called it tbh. People are talking about forcing him to sell isn't going to happen easily. It's a long dark road the league quite honestly wants to avoid.
At at the end of the day, Sterling is going to continue making profits from his black players lol. Balls on your court Clipper fans and players.

SAS going in on NAACP and rightly so. He should be going in more on NBA and the coaches/players who buried their heads in the sand for money too. The focus is on Sterling and the result is great, but there are other issues at hand.

I don't foresee much of a problem, tbh... what Silver did is well within the commish power... we might not agree with his decisions all the time, but that already happened with Stern, tbh

We will see if it's within his power. I think it was within his power to envoke the vote, fine and suspend him. The point is, this now opened up rulings to judge by any means necessary any actions by players, owners, coaches or NBA employees even if it's private. There could absolutely be some nasty litigation because of this either now or down the road.

They already do that though. IIRC, NBA contracts stipulate certain conditions on what players are forbidden to do even on their private time (including random drug checks, prohibition from certain activities, etc).
That's basically a lot of what's fought over, besides money, during CBA negotiations.

No,no. The contract do stipulate conduct in public places. They don't regulate anything with regards to private life, especially without conviction of a crime. This is an entirely different thing and incredibly monumental from a policing state.
You can have things in the contract (like no riding motorcycles) but that is explicitly laid out. Someone essentially illegally recording you (which I am not sure if thats the case here) just expressing views (no matter how disgusting) is an entirely different thing. Who defines what is offensive? Racism is generally considered offensive, but what about views on gays? Religion? Sexual practices? There are a lot of moral questions and that is the grey area and why this is so big.
Ultimately, it's about what will impact the bottom line. But these are still important questions (although we all know nothing will be done overall).
