this is not a joke....

In an unforeseen and, quite frankly, incredulous plot twist, it appears the NAACP–the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People–will be honoring Sterling at a dinner in Los Angeles on May 15th. The irony is, he’s been honored before, in 2009, despite having a checkered past concerning his views and dealings with people of other races, but none of the previous blemishes have been as damning or as blatant as this one.

Repug, a member of the racist party, sliming racist Sterling as a Democrat :lol

GOP Congressman Falsely Claims Donald Sterling Is A Democrat

Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) inaccurately claimed Tuesday during a House Financial Services Committee hearing that Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a Democrat, shortly after the NBA banned him for life for making widely-denounced racist comments.

"We've all heard of the comments that were recently made by Mr. Sterling from the LA Clippers, who is a Democrat -- made absolutely offensive comments," Duffy said, praising President Barack Obama for condemning the comments.

In fact, Sterling is a registered Republican (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/donald-sterling-registered-republican), as confirmed by public records provided by Los Angeles County officials.

Now that this is basically over and the NBA will obviously encourage Sterling to sell...

Wait till the Clippers read this after she innocently asked and was invited back. In fact I think Chris Paul might have shed a tear for her.

the 80-year-old Sterling offered a few words (http://dujour.com/article/donald-sterling-clippers-quote-i-wish-i-had-just-paid-her-off/42821) about the situation to its CEO, Jason Binn.

"I wish I had just paid her off,” Sterling told DuJour, referring to his girlfriend V. Stiviano, who got his racist comments on tape.

===========

Now, if the idea of a racist billionaire getting a check for close to $1 billion as punishment for his racism doesn’t seem fair, consider this:

Selling the team now will cost Sterling’s family a couple hundred million dollars in taxes.

Sterling bought the team in 1981 for just $12.7 million, so if he’s forced to sell he’ll owe the 23.8 percent capital gains tax on almost all of the sales prices.

But if none of this had happened and Sterling was able to bequeath the team to, say, his daughter, she would only owe capital gains on the difference between what it was worth when she got it and what she eventually sold it for. This tactic is called “step-up basis,” and it would have saved as much as $250 million for the Sterlings.

yeah the smart thing to do is give the team to a family member and then have them sell it
