here's a legit source.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling reiterated to Fox News Wednesday that the team "is not for sale," likely signaling a looming legal battle with the NBA should his fellow owners try to force a sale over Sterling's racist remarks.

The prospect of a forced sale of the team was raised Tuesday by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after he announced Sterling will be banned for life and fined $2.5 million for comments recorded by his alleged former mistress. Owners plan to vote on the matter next week, and an affirmative vote by 22 of the league's 29 owners could force Sterling to divest.

But experts say the case could be tied up in court for years if Sterling fights back. Richard Sheehan, the author of "Keeping Score: The Economics of Big-Time Sports," told The Los Angeles Times that the 80-year-old Sterling, a lawyer and real estate tycoon, could tie up the sale of the team for the rest of his life.

the team is NOT FOR SALE :lol

It's funny that it's Fox news that got the inside scoop on Sterling

Sterling is a California democrat,,,he has donated money to liberals,,,not much but it still tells you he is a liberal. Democrats are trying to hide that fact because they want people to believe the only racists reside in the republican party.

Yeah I even said so in my "begins" thread. I said he's worth a couple billion, and after the sale and lawsuit would be closer to 4. I think the amount is because of the California law that allows a 3x damages suit to be filed if there's not a 2 party agreement when a recording is made.

That's the second best case scenario for him actually. It'll save his family a ton of money in taxes for when the Clippers are actually sold.

Actually it would be a lot of fun if Sterling keeps owning the Clippers.

Imagine free agency, him trading for black players (he offically can't be involved, but really can't he?), the season ticket holders, opposing players, Dirk schooling Blake in a huge game and so on!

I am in no way supportive of Sterling, but I would think he actually has a fairly strong legal case here for the very reasons outlined in the faux article that started this thread.

Btw, does anyone else find it odd that this man's private conversation with his mistress provokes this massive response by the league and media once it somehow becomes public, but the professional football team from Washington DC has an openly racist name and everyone with the exception of a few enlightened folks in the media and in politics is pretty much ok with that? I find the disconnect puzzling.

His attorneys assured reporters that the lawsuit will be an open-and-shut case in their client’s favor, stating “No one approves of what our client said on that recording. There’s no denying that. But it was recorded in the comfort of his own home and later obtained and publicized illegally. Not to mention, the mafia tactics the league is using to try to muscle Mr. Sterling out of his rightfully owned franchise are highly illegal and even unconstitutional. We have no doubt that our client will be exonerated when it is all said and done.”

They make some good points. All anyone focused on was the racist comments which is typical today but how the recording was obtained is ridiculous. That bitch basically wore a wire on him, goaded him into an argument she knew he was passionate about and ran to the media with it.. Everything he said was horrendous but he has some legal legs to stand on here..

Unfortunately the American Indians have no representation in any platform wether its media, players union, voter prescence, or pretty much any public forum. In Amerika, its ok to be racist against tiny powerless minorities.

If sterling had said dont bring any pakistanis or north koreans to my games. It would have been business as usual.

Welcome to Amerika.

Hearing those tools Michael Wilbon and Stephen A say the players were ready to boycott playoff games had me rolling my eyes. Players play unless there is a CBA issue with their contract. The idea that they would not play unless the league muscled Sterling out was a complete lie IMO..

It doesn't matter that it was illegally spread. Whoever did that could be prosecuted because it is illegal but Sterling isn't being judged in a court of law. He is hurting nba and owners business and they can vote him out by their by-laws.

He fucked up good, but I can definitely see how they can pull the unconstitutional card under the grounds the recording was obtained. He's just a senile stupid old fuck tbh.
