If I recall correctly: If Rockets push to a game 7, then Spurs at noon and Rockets/Blazers at 2:30 with Nets/Raps at 5.

If Blazer win, Nets/Raps at noon and Spurs at 2:30.

I'm excited for the future. Last year was just the final push by an all time great to show us that he once was one of the world's greatest. I think it's time. Sure we may win but what's the prize? A date with Portland/Roxs. Spurs are liable to get swept in the next round. I'd much rather see Tim lose to an old rival than bitch made Howard or a just as annoying Blazers team.

Supreised by the lack of meltdown as well. Maybe its a sign that Spurs fans are starting to see this once great trio no longer able to win close games like they used to. The great role players of Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry are a thing of the past. Gotdamnit, this loss hurts. Makes me feel like this team isnt what they used to be and most likely never will.

Hurts to say but even if we win on Sunday, the chances of us making it back to the Finals look grim.

Spurs, it's been tougher because I hate seeing Duncan's remaining time be squandered. I never liked the idea of the Enrique Experiment, but might as well ride it out.

Agreed tbh, tho I'm extremely iffy with Kraep at the helm. They had the talent, coaching, and luck/breaks to win at least one Superbowl but shat the bed three years in a row. Should've stuck with Alex or tried out Colt Jesus McCoy.

definitely. my gut feeling was to not screw over Alex like that, especially after the season he was having. my gut instinct was to not pull Duncan in game 6. who knows, it's possible things would've worked out the same way regardless of what happened, but a lot of what ifs in the past few years.

I think everybody is tired. Spurs and Spurs fans. let's face it I know Spurs fans don't go out on the court and play but this long running of ass kicking takes an emotional toll. I don't even sleep good when spurs lose. Our boys are spent and so is Pop. I think they don't gaf anymore and ready to book those vacations and spend some time with their family, tbh tbh. Not to mention the time people invest on this board.

This is my feeling as well. Manu and TP each having kids recently, Duncan with his divorce, just some off the court stuff for guys that have already accomplished everthing they have in their profession. Just gotta question how badly the Spurs want to advance as they really haven't played that hungry in a month. I don't think they much left in the tank even if they somehow win this series.

Also, some reports came out that Jeff's dad asked him to change his name back to Pendergraph. Just that kind of ending tbh....

i thought this place would pick up with the postseason, per hte par, but it only seems slightly more active. it's nowhere what it used to be, I guess 6 and the lunatics taking over the asylum has that effect.

Tim is the franchise, the foundation, this will always be his team. Misses the point though, this team always needed a couple of extra guys to come up big, and they've been largely Manu and Tony.

Even Pop said he changed the offense to run it through Manu through those years, and did it again to run it primarily through Tony the last couple of years.

Father time catches up to everyone, it only makes sense that the heavier burden is carried by the younger legs... it's certainly nice that the old guys are still able to put up a solid fight here and there though. You just can't be dependent on the old legs to work all the time.

You just can't be dependent on the old legs to work all the time.

yep, and here we journey to the 'Spurs FO' thread. As always, I believe they didn't do enough to surround TD. I still think they only wanted to "appear competitive" to keep the fans forking out the cash.
Legit FO's who care about :lobt2: go out and get a Gasol or Garnet or Shaq or Lebron, etc.

c'mon Elnono, where would Manu be if he was drafted by any team other than the Tim Duncans?

TD = 4+
there is no scenario on this earth where TD doesn't get at least 4. Manu did nothing to increase that number

Yeah, 09 was the broken ankle, IIRC... but even 11 was somewhat of a trip, with Duncan looking like he was ready to hang them up... this place was basically calling for either blowing it up or going on a farewell tour...

07 was the most carefree IMO. Even when the Suns tied it up in Game 4, I never seriously thought the Spurs would lose that series.

I was probably more worried after losing Game 1 to the Nuggets tbh

:lol sure vander... it's so easy. Small market winning 4 ships... look at Cleveland with Lebron... or heck, look at the Knicks. But I know you'll never appreciate what the Spurs have done. That's on you.

And sure Tony and Manu had a lot to do with it. That's why they're called the big 3, not the big 1.

Every Jordan had a Pippen, every Shaq had a Kobe, every Kobe had a Gasol, every Lebron had a Wade... That's just how you win this game.

I wanted to blow the team up after 2011. I can't believe just how much of a drag Jefferson was on the entire team. I didn't figure one player could completely wreck a team and make two legendary players look so shitty. You could make a pretty solid case for Dick being the worst Spurs player all-time.

Just as amazing how quick the turnaround was once he was ejected... people harp on the FO a lot, and they had their shitty moments, but they put together a contender in basically 6 months... obviously, Diaw dropping in our laps was huge too, and sometimes you need to have a bit of luck, but still...

quite the prepared defeat speech tbh.
however, LA added Kobe/Shaq, did that not work?
then Gasol to Kobe, did that not work?
Miami added Shaq to Wade, did that not work?
then LeAthlet and Bosh to Wade, did that not work?
Boston added KG and etc. did that not work?

seriously, basketball is not rocket science, and being given TD makes makes it obscenely easier...

Only Boston and LA has more titles than San Antonio... Miami might catch up this year if they 3-peat.

That's how good these Spurs have been. You missed it, that's your problem.

And those are all big market teams!!! :lol At least all of them are certainly much larger than San Antonio...

You're making my point for me.

Plus he lists the 5 or so examples that worked... but there's gazillion that did not.

Heck, the Knicks are the epitome of throwing cash at the problem, piling up talent and having absolutely nothing to show for it.

Amare/Nash didn't work
Amare/Melo/Chandler didn't work
Howard/Kobe/Nash didn't work
Howard/Harden didn't work
Durant/Westbrook/Harden didn't work

you can go on for pages...

last I checked the NBA had a salary cap and and luxury tax and whatnot...
your small market tears don't amount to shit compared to TD.

If Manu had been drafted by any other team, ANY, ANY other team he would have zero

The small market is a reality Tim accepted when he decided to stick with the Spurs. I doubt he's in tears after 4 championships, but he only knows.

zero what? championships? maybe, but he was drafted by the Spurs and he was an instrumental piece in 3 championships. That we know. The rest is :blah

I didn't say they're the same as TD, stop making stuff up :lol

I'm pointing out that all this players you say the Spurs should've traded for to pair with TD are the same "hack players" you're talking about.

After all, neither KG or Allen had a championship until they set foot in Boston. Gasol didn't win a single playoff game before landing in LA. All "hack players".

You're capt hindsight, that's your real problem. You think it's easy, but it isn't. Again, look at the Knicks. They always had the megabucks and are easily the biggest market in the NBA. Failure after failure.

did the Shaq/Kobe/Gasol/KG/Lebron etc. acquisitions lead to championships because the cities were big markets?

or was it because they were known quantities and competent FO's ...

using NY to support your argument of randomness rather than incompetence is pretty weak

this line: "After all, neither KG or Allen had a championship until they set foot in Boston. Gasol didn't win a single playoff game before landing in LA. All "hack players"
these are examples of other front offices identifying talent, getting it, and winning with it.
something the Spurs have never done.
do you understand?
Spurs. Have. Never. Done.

other teams have done this, Spurs have not, despite drafting Tim Duncan

Spurs sucked in 1997 and so managed to drafted one of the top 10 players of all time.
after this, the Spurs were never able to identify talent on the free agent market and add it to the team in order to win championships.

:lol it's ridiculous vander, you always bring this shit. The Spurs never had sugar daddy Buss to throw millions, or a mole like Jerry West to wink, wink hand them a player.

You'll never hear the NBA commish say he would love a Spurs vs Spurs finals. You're comparing apples to oranges.

Did they know when they traded for these "hack players" they were going to win? Ofcourse not. You're talking now with the score already settled. Hindsight.

Every FO makes moves that think will help them get better, and every team does it depending on their ability to make those moves. For every of those 5 you mentioned that worked out, there's thousands that do not.

Cherry picking the ones that do means absolutely nothing. It's like saying, well, the Spurs FO were geniuses for trading Malik for Nazr... hey, we won a championship so they're geniuses!

Your bar for "competence" doesn't exist. Under your premise, no FO was ever competent outside of LA, Boston, San Antonio and now Miami. It's an imaginary bar that's only in your head.

But you go through this every year, even during the time the team was actually winning a championship, and you were still sour and whining.

It really doesn't matter how many championships do you feel the Spurs should've won. Tim choose to stay in San Antonio fully aware of the limitations, and the Spurs went from nothing to third best team in NBA history.

An amazing feat for a team that always had limitations due to where it was, and just a testament on how good Tim and the FO have been.
