All right SpursTalk we have another epic series on our hands and this time the Spurs, still recovering from a brutal 7 game slug fest, will be facing an even more dangerous team in the Trail Blazers. Both teams will be sporting all-star point guards with one team possessing the greatest power forward in the game today and the other team possessing the living legend GOAT power forward. These two teams seem almost evenly matched so it stands to ask: who will be the X factor? Who's bench will step up in the bright lights? And most importantly, who wins? Vote and post your thoughts below.

Spurs in 5
Blazers in 7

Spurs don't win game 6 in Portland so I can't vote that.

I'm thinking Spurs in 6 which is the safe guess most will probably come to. I wouldn't be surprised if this series went 7 games but I'd be really surprised if either team sweeps or wins in 5.

I am not very confident because Portland can do everything Dallas did and they have younger, more athletic players to do it. Also there will be a game every other day and the Spurs had no rest going into this series, so it will be tough ... I am still looking forward to some great basketball.

Spurs in 5 (if they played like yesterday afternoon for the majority of this series). Portland has a great starting 5, but they have no bench. Spurs starters just need to keep pace with the TB and let the bench build the leads. The Mavs have a better bench than both the Blazers and Rockets. Blazers matched up well with the Rockets b/c the Rockets have no bench as well. Look who really beat the Spurs last year, Allen, Miller, Battier (All bench players). Starters are going to get their own, but it always comes down to the bench in a 7 games series.

I can't even remember a team that won a championship that at least didn't have a good bench. Over the past 10 years, the Lakers, Pistons, Spurs, Heat, Mavs, etc all had at least two players that could put 20 points on the board any given night off their bench. Blazers have Mo Williams and that's it, and shooting 37% FG and 28% from 3pt thus far in the playoffs is nothing to write home about. Only scoring 93 pts in a 6 game series where your team averaged 112 pts per game is really really bad.

I said Spurs in 6 though it is possible that the athleticism of the Blazers makes it go to 7 games.

Thing is, since I don't expect us to win every single game I am unlikely to commit seppuku if/when we lose a game or two (or even three). That is what I ask of people on this forum….looking at all the comments, virtually no one is predicting a walk in the park. So let's not have melodrama when we don't win each and every game by 50, okay?

Also, value of regular season games was just shown up in the last series. HCA really does count for something, so it might be nice to occasionally remember that 'even though' some wins during the year are 'only' rs wins, it can make a difference in the playoffs.

For some reason, I am not as worried about Portland as I was for Dallas. Portland is a better team, no doubt, but they are also a younger team. Dallas was a veteran club with excellent coaching. There will be more pressure on Portland's stars than they have ever faced. Lillard has looked stone cold thus far, but he is going to have to prove himself every step of the way going forward. Same for Aldridge.

Dallas threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Spurs defensively, and yet the Spurs had their best offensive outing in game 7, adjusting to all counters along the way. While its not good that the Spurs had to play all those extra minutes against Dallas, it ultimately helped round them into playoff form. I've got the Spurs in 5 or 6. Portland has the talent to beat the Spurs, but they are going to have to prove that they are capable of doing so.

Last year Spurs (or Game 7 Spurs) would take this series... the problem this season is that you don't know which Spurs team is going to show up.

I do think the Mavs had the much better coaching and experience though. We'll see if Stotts borrows some ideas from Carlisle. Sometimes even if you can borrow, the personnel struggles changing too many things. So we'll see.

I agree, hopefully the Spurs momentum will carry over from Game 7. I don't think Bellineli and the others can play any worse than they did against Dallas.

Well it would have to be game six that is stolen right? I think game three or four is stolen and Spurs in 5/7. Portland can win in San Antonio.
