View Full Version : Should the Spurs try to sign Vince Carter this summer?

He was amazing in that series and he's so classy as well... I know some people (including myself in most cases) don't want to surround the big 3 with tired old shit bags or minus defenders but the FO signed Beli so I guess they don't see it that way... I'd make an exception for Vince anyway tbh.

Yay or nay?

Well, we signed TMac last year, so...

He wants to stay in Dallas ...

I'm going to say no, solely based on superstition. :lol If you look at VC's history, almost every single time he joins a team, they do WORSE than the year before they got him and never recover until he's gone; in some cases to date still never recovering.

Sure that might be coincidence, but I'll pass anyway.

If anything he's an upgrade over Beli

But what is the over/under of him having an interview tantrum if we give him garbage minutes in playoffs? I hate players with big egos

i gave it a thought yesterday, but i would rather see us with livio jean charles. No use in signing veterans when we have young talents to develop in our specific situation.

What's with signing these guys when they're washed up. If the Spurs sign him his production will probably fall of a cliff next season. Just like Finley.

If he wants to win, he got his money in his last deal and will come on the cheap. More than likely though he'll end up on the Heat or Thunder on the cheap.

Yeah...he's chasing a ring now, so he'll likely sign with a contender. Methinks he'll be in Miami next year.

Vince 2014 salary: $3.1 mil
Marco 2014 salary: $2.9 mil

God damn, we're getting ripped off.

Carter would have been nice the past three seasons, but the Spurs should start focusing on finding younger players to get ready for the future.

No. He's already 37 and he probably only has two years left in the tank. Really classy guy though

No. The Spurs need younger, more athletic guys than Vince Carter. He hit a bunch of wide open shots, and one clutch game winner, but let's not overreact to a series where he played a bit over his head at this age.

This. Plus, he's old.

Since Dirk is out of equation for obvious reasons, if I have to pick one of Mavs' free agents, I'd rather have Marion than VC.

No. I remember in 2008 after the Hornets series people were asking this exact question with regards to Jannero Pargo. He went off against the Spurs. He sucks now.
