The Federal Trade Commission has sued AT&T for promising unlimited data to wireless customers and then throttling their speeds by as much as 90 percent, the FTC announced Tuesday (http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases/2014/10/ftc-says-att-has-misled-millions-consumers-unlimited-data).http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/10/us-sues-att-alleges-severe-throttling-of-unlimited-data-customers/

As we've also written (http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/09/att-congestion-magically-disappears-when-its-signing-up-new-customers/), AT&T was throttling unlimited subscribers regardless of network conditions until July, when it changed its policy. Throttling was enforced once users hit 3GB or 5GB of data per month. AT&T still throttles customers but now says it only does so in congested areas.

AT&T's "throttling program has been severe, often resulting in speed reductions of 80 to 90 percent for affected users," the FTC said.

Moving to TMobile ASAP. I might even force my way out of my contract with Sprint due to this bullshit. Unless they grandfather me in.

The worst part about this is that the networks aren't even overloaded. It really doesn't have any impact on their network to leave power users unthrottled, as they have themselves said that power users are a tiny fraction of individuals.

Basically, it's nothing more than a "fuck you" to customers. It doesn't help OTHER customers for them to do this, it just allows them to screw more money out of wallets.

Wgaf considering internet usage is almost completely useless on the sprint "network". Fuck them and their shitty service! Unlimited data that's very limited or nonexistent!
