How is SG a team-need when it's the deepest position in our roster? The front office should draft a combo forward who can play the 3 / small ball 4, IMO. Someone in the mold of Andrei Kirlenko / Thaddeus Young / Danny Granger.

Perfect second-rounders. But I'd rather see Micic or Bod at 30.

Lavine is by far the most gifted athlete in the draft. But he can't shoot, can't dribble, and isn't even close to ready for the NBA. Which is why this mock has the Spurs drafting him. Because we develop players far better than anyone else.

Don't like Mcadoo at all...saw him play at UNC. Not impressed. Unsized big man that struggles offensively. No thanks.

And Thanasis Antetokounmpo is only getting drafted because his brother is an athletic freak. And he's a foreigner, which the Spurs love.

Honestly this mock draft is very stereotypical in relation to the Spurs. Basically saying that the Spurs are going to draft athletic young guys and foreign players to develop for the future. Same as every mock draft.

I think it's a forward looking pick (which is Spurs style) that looks for a Manu replacement. That's why I say Bogdan, so he can continue in Europe if needed until we have the spot for him.

I would think that it is hoped that Bertans can step into the combo forward role (certainly a stretch 4) in the next year or two. With Daye's performance, we may have a set of options for the stretch 4 position as well...

Exactly. It's what we always end up doing. Taking the most mature guy who can check his ego at the door and be ready to work. Lavine just isn't Spurs material. Too young, too immature, too inexperienced, and the fact that he declared so early without improving his game first shows he's not ready.

I always remember Eliott saying that in the Spurs draft room they have two lists, one reading "Not a Spur" with several names below and one reading "Could be a Spur" with several names below. And that a lot of top guys that were highly thought of in the draft were in the "Not a Spur" category.

Mock drafts simply put the most highly thought of prospect in order 1-60 for the most part. The Spurs have their own order.

IMHO this would be a great draft to trade up in, like they did to get Leonard.
They could easily get a starter if they got into the teens somewhere.

Four if Daye is waived. Functionally, though. It's probably just one or two. Diaw is almost certain to be back, and I can't see all three of Daye, Mills and Baynes moving on.

The Spurs no longer have any expendable trade assets of value. Every one of their good players are either necessary to the team or a free agent and can't be trade. Beli is probably the best realistic asset the team has, and he's not netting Capela.
