SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Trail Blazers battled harder and stayed closer than they did in Game 1, but they came away empty-handed again Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs.

With seven Spurs scoring in double figures, San Antonio led nearly all the way and coasted much of the night in beating Portland 114-97 for a 2-0 edge in the NBA Western Conference semifinals.

Point guard Tony Parker again was the catalyst for San Antonio, but he had plenty of help.

Parker finished with 10 assists and 16 points.

Starting forward Kawhi Leonard missed only one of his nine field-goal attempts and led San Antonio with 20 points. He was 4 of 4 from 3-point range.

Center Tiago Splitter had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Power forward Tim Duncan contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Three Spurs reserves scored in double figures: Many Ginobili had 16 points, Marco Belinelli had 13 and Boris Diaw scored 12.

For Portland, Nicolas Batum improved from seven points in Tuesday's Game 1 to a team-high 21, with nine rebounds. Damian Lillard had 19 points, Wesley Matthews up his output from eight points in the series opener to 14, and LaMarcus Aldirdge tallied 16 points, with 10 rebounds. Aldridge, however, was 6 of 23 from the floor.

The Spurs shot 53.3 percent from the field, while Portland wound up at 43.0 percnet.

Portland led Game 2 for only 16 seconds — at 7-4 early in the first quarter.

The Spurs led 70-51 after shooting 58 percent from the field in the first half. Leonard's 14 points led the way for San Antonio in the half.

Lillard scored 15 points to lead the Blazers in the opening two quarters. Portland shot 42.9 percent from the field.

After their 41-point second quarter, the Spurs managed only 17 in the third period, and San Antonio led 87-71 going into the final 12 minutes.

The Blazers got within single digits a few times in the fourth quarter, but the Spurs were able to answer with baskets often enough to stay in control.

A 3-pointer by Leonard pushed the Spurs' edge to 107-93 with 3:18 remaining. After a Portland miss, Ginobili hit a 3, and it was 110-93.

The series shifts to Portland, with Game 3 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

This doesn't even feel like a playoff series.
