View Full Version : Decent comedian thread

I've been trying to find some decent comedians to check out. Having trouble finding anyone consistently funny.
As a point of reference, some of my favorites have been Mitch Hedburg, Louis CK, Steven Wright. Some of the newer one's that have been pretty good are Aziz Ansari and Anthony Jeselnik.
I liked Chris Rock but I don't need to hear another black comedian doing his best to impersonate him.

Who's out there that's bringing the laughs?

Listening to Avante talk about his life is pretty comical.

Yep, nothing more funny than talking about the military in foreign bars, something all intelligent people are well aware of. How many times have we seen that portrayed in the movies?

Joan Rivers. Political correctness doesn't exist to her. She has the biggest pair of nuts on American television

Not sure about his other work, but I was surprised how funny Nick Swardson's "Seriously Who Farted" stand up was.

I have Comedy Central on SiriusXM and they play alot of this guy John Mulaney that I've found pretty damn funny.

David Cross is hilarious too, but can get overly preachy and pretentious.

Also, Doug Stanhope's new special is on Netflix - Beer Hall Putsch. He's a living legend and still has it.

Forgot about Dimitri Martin. I've been using Rhapsody so a lot of his visual stuff doesn't make the CD's. But still by and far one of my favorites. I heard the "No Moleste" bit from Tig Notaro that was funny but when I listened to the CD as a whole, I was slightly disappointed. From the laughs she got, I'm assuming she's pretty visual in her delivery because the cancer bit got pretty old just listening to it.

Checked out Bill Burr and John Mulaney. Pretty funny shit. I'd actually heard the Xanax story and Ice T stuff on satellite or something. Didn't realize who did them.
Good stuff.

Dimitri Martin is the guy who does those simple sketches on the giant pad right? I loved him on Flight of the Conchords, but I found his stand up pretty boring. Kumail Nanjiani and Patton Oswald are 2 of the funniest guys on Twitter. So is Kristen Schaal.

yeah...that's him. I like his stand up. I'll check out Kumail Nanijai. That reminds me...someone mentioned that Mindy Kaling has a good routine.

I can take or leave Patton Oswalt.

Listen to Dave Attell and Greg Geraldo (r.i.p.) on Spotify. Hilarious fucking shit. Tom Segura's special on Netflix is also highly recommended. Bo Burnham (one-man musical) was pretty cool to watch on Netflx too. I also enjoyed watching John Mulaney and Gary Gulman on Netflix.

Agreed about Burr and Louis, but Stanhope has been at that level for a long time and shows no signs of letting up.

Bo Burnham can be good at times. he's really hit or miss with his skits, but he's pretty unorthodox and unique. quite clever though
