View Full Version : The only thing that could top Game 6 chokejob is choking a 3-0 lead

IMO Spurs have about a 30% chance of choking this lead at the moment. They are still mentally affected by the events that transpired in game 6 of last year's finals. 1/3 chance at the moment for the most epic chokejob in sports history to become a reality..

in other news... Ginobili is already in game 6 form tbh :lol

It would, hypothetically......................but it won't in actuality. And 30% is way too high, it's more like 0.01%. You have to remember that game 4 in a 3-0 series is a very poor predictor of future success. If Portland were to somehow win game 5, then you would be somewhat justified in thinking this way, but right now...:lol no.

Actually given this series they have won 1 out of four games.

So probabilistically the number is (1/4)*(1/4)*(1/4) for them to win the next 3. Which is 1/64 that equals 1,5625% of them back sweeping us.

justinandimcool
05-13-2014, 01:34 AM
It would be poetic to choke this away, tbh

I expect the Spurs to win this series, whether in 5, 6, or 7. The biggest fear is someone going down with a major injury thanks to the extra games.

You could all say thank you to the front office for the shit off season they had, that is the reason we not for sure advance this round and for sure not advancing the next round if we get there... We just not brought any sagnificant addition to the team, only lost Neal and Blair... Pusynelli should not play 1 second in the playoff, he is not for those moments, he is garbage, too bad we didn't brought other player instead of him who could help, now we are short in firepower especially at the wing and rely too much on erratic Manu, we are fucked because of stupid front office who just hurt the team in the off season...

In all my years of watching pro ball I've never seen a choke like last year's Spurs.
I've learned that they are capable of anything - anything.

If you can't hold on to a title that's firmly in the bag, then anything's possible.

There has been far worse choke jobs than the Spurs in Sports. AC Milan losing to an inferior Liverpool team after being up 3-0 in the Champ League Final at the half. Oiler's losing to the Bills after being up 35-0 at halftime at home. Cubs losing a 3-0 series lead. Dallas meltdown in the '06 Finals was way more of a Choke job than the Spurs.

Spurs were only down by 2 with 40 seconds in game 7 and Duncan should have tied it up. But like I said before, sometimes things aren't just meant to be.

To each his own, but Game 3 of the Mavs/Heat game was much worse IMO. Double Digit lead in the 4th and the Mavs lost, and then got backdoor swept.

Biggest choke job in a game I witness was the knicks having an 6 point lead and Reggie Miller scored 8 point in 9 seconds. I watched that game live. What made it worse was the Knicks were at home and choked their FTs.

They didnt' give away a title. They had game 7 and were down by 2 with only 40 seconds left. Dude, I am sure you were jumping up and down doing cartwheels, then the wheels came off. As you grow up, games like this don't disappoint you as much b/c you realize one day YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL ON HOW THEY TURN OUT.

Spurs won't lose four straight to a jump-shooting team that turns the ball over a lot. Even last night with SA getting killed on the boards and missing multiple open threes, they were still only down two at halftime.

LMAO I was one of the few left here in this forum still posting after game 6. Many of you jumped the team and the forum already. I cheered my team through game 7 and remained here while 90% of posters including the forum owners took forced eave of absense after we lost the series. :lol

i was the one trying to talk on how thus could have happened while most posters would not even want to revisit 6. I wanted answers and closure while most wanted denial and to forget

Truth is I am probably a better Spur fan than 95% of spurstalk.

doesnt change the fact we choked it away last year and that increases the chances of another choke this year

No. Not fail, as was demonstrated by Ray Allen. The Heat were champs for a reason. They had HCA for a reason.

That wasn't for the championship. The Spurs had their sights on a title and let it get away, could not finish it(choked). It was similar when the Rangers blew the World Series but not the Yankees.

Game 6 was the biggest choke job in sports history. The Title was won, it belonged to the Spurs. The yellow tape was out, Tim was getting pats on the back, LeBron was crying on the bench and yelling at teammates, and then it happened. Game 6 will haunt us forever. Ray Allen's 3 will go down as the most clutch in NBA history. I'm waiting for an ESPN 30 for 30 on it, tbh.

it won't happen folks. Just some food for though :lol
